Hey everyone I’m not a Douglas county resident but I know of someone who committed a crime and was arrested in Douglas county… I was wondering if there is a page or a news place that reports local arrests for duis and such. The case is pending so we can’t get the whole story from the arresting agency till it’s over.. but for safety of a child we are trying to see if a person picked up for the dui had the child and or possibly physically assaulted the officers like a previous arrest. Their previous arrest was reported on local online news locally so we were hoping for it again this time!
Any help in that direction would be amazing!
As the question states, I have PLO as I have children with severe behavioral issues. I take at least one day a week off for them for counseling (more if they are having a rough day, but not often)
If I take a job with a new employer, am I still covered? And if this something I should be disclosing in an interview?
I can't really find an answer on the website as I'm taking time as needed and not in a lump.
I just discovered a new facet of our broken healthcare system: I’m self employed and I make too much money to qualify for OHP, so instead I get to pay $500 a month for a Moda Health plan that doesn’t cover anything.
I tried to go to Urgent Care on Saturday and I was told they don’t accept my insurance. That’s fine, I said, I’ll just pay out of pocket. Nope, they told me they’re not allowed to bill me personally if I have insurance, and they don’t take my insurance, so I’m shit out of luck.
TL/DR I pay $500 a month for insurance that’s actually worse than not having insurance at all.
Since they’ve changed the speed limit on OR-217 to 45 mph from 55 mph, I’ve noticed that no one follows that, and always drive 60+ through active work zones.
It doesn’t feel safe to drive 45 or even 50 because traffic is driving 60+. I’ve had multiple close calls because of tailgating when I was driving 50-53 in the right line.
With daylight savings and Oregon rain, I can’t help but feel a little nervous about driving on 217 in the dark. There is little reflective lane paint, and the faded old lane along with the newer (still faded) lane paint makes me feel real sketchy driven there after 6 pm.
What is the appropriate speed limit on 217?
Wife wants a flocked christmas tree this year -- looking for any tree farm located around the Portland or Salem area that might offer this?!
Thank you!
So I am 21 and this will be my first presidential election I can vote in. I registered a long time ago, and I was expecting my mail ballot and I never received it. I 100% want to vote and I am having a hard time figuring out how to vote on Election Day. I live near Salem so I figured it would be easy to find polling locations there but I just keep getting stuff about the drop boxes.
So how does voting work on Election Day? Or does anyone have any info they know about what Salem is doing that day for people voting?
The mountain got a fresh coat recently so I took the dog for a walk and snagged this photo.
As the title asks, curious about what you guys in Newport have to say about coffee! What’s your picks for favorite spots?
Just ideally no chains unless it’s just THAT good lol (cozy places are especially welcomed!)

So im not from here, purchased prerolls. Im gonna be smoking like once in the evening, and will drive only after a good night of sleep. No intention of driving while high.
Im a bit worried because where I come from, mouthswabs detect THC up to 72 hours after smoking - which means you can get a DUI even if you're not high at all.
Is this the same here ? Should I just not smoke ?
I have no clue what type of mushroom this. It was about the size of a softball.
Reishi mushrooms have been used as medicine for thousands of years. I'm not a doctor or scientist so I can't really speak to that. However, I'm a mushroom hunter, and I found one of our local reishi mushrooms while teaching foraging lessons yesterday. They favor pine and fir trees.
There also exists a mushroom that looks exactly like this called Ganoderma tsugae, or hemlock reishi. Some people say G tsugae doesn't grow here. Some say G oregonense doesn't actually exist and they're all tsugae. The truth is, we just don't know for sure.
It has been my experience that, when the host tree changes, very often the species does, too. Thus, I believe this to be a true G. oregonense, and the ones I've found on hemlock are actually hemlock reishi.
But all of that aside, this is truly a magnificent mushroom, and I thought I'd share one of our local hidden gems.
I made a harvesting video, which is available here:

Stay safe, warm and dry!
a job I am applying to told me to get this before I can be hired but I’ve seen there is multiple sites to acquire it Can someone send me the best or atleast some of the sites needed for an online course?
I am 51 and don't plan on working in 2025. My plan is to use money from investments for my expenses, probably will have close to $40,000 in unearned income that I will be living off of. Is it worthwhile for me to sign up for OHP? How would it compare to private insurance? I'm pretty healthy so I'm not expecting to have a lot of health expenditures during the year.
I know aspens aren’t exactly all to common in Oregon but I heard they can be found In select areas throughout the state. I heard Steens might have some, what are some other areas around that might have some?
Let's say there are Dems, Republicans, and we'll call the third party the Beavers.
For a senate race it is simple. If there is no candidate with the majority of the votes, then whoever voted for the person in last place has their votes switched to their second choice. Keeps going like that until there is a majority and that person will win.
But what about for the presidency? Let's say the Beavers win the state, but the Beavers don't have enough votes in other states to win the presidency. Does the entire state's outcome then switch to the second preferred choice? If not, then oregon's 8 electoral votes could effectively be nullified...
Sources please :)
Was trying for a sunset, but the clouds had other plans.
Lane County, for the record!
Hey, I've never been educated in money my whole life and don't have family to ask for advice, how does someone find a reliable rural realtor?
Were living in Eugene, but want to get out of the city and back to some land, and didn't know exactly where, but needs to be within an hour of Portland so I can keep my art business going.
It seems like most realtors specialize cities and neighborhoods, but it's there a way to search for someone who can help with a larger area and specific needs (workshop / ADU)?
Everyone I've talked to seems to serve their narrow area, and I might fundamentally misunderstand something, but I thought people here would have opinions because it's reddit and people will give you opinions

I’m moving to Redmond from Bend and wanted to see what folks out here use for their internet. I was using CenturyLink before, but I’m exhausted by their horrible customer support. Are there better alternatives or am I stuck with them?
Can you help me with an itinerary for Oregon coast from Portland and back? 6 full days November end. I am thinking florence for the dunes, cape kiwanda, cannon beach. Thanks so much!
The idea of removing the ability of politicians to set their own salaries sounds nice, but it's weird to me that this proposal was referred to voters by them instead of the ballot initiative process.
Arguments in favor say this increases accountability, but I'm not sold on that point. We don't know who the commission will be or who selects them. But we do know that whatever salary decisions they make aren't subject to any verification or approval process, and are automatically funded from the general fund.
Currently legislators are accountable to their constituents. If they make a salary decision they can't justify to their voters, then we vote them out. Who would this commission be accountable to? Who do they have to justify their decisions to?
Edit: Thank you for all the input!
I'm not opposed to an independent commission. I do agree that legislators should be paid enough that they can focus on this work without having to hold another job or worry about income. I also like they idea of them not being directly in control of that.
I'm not sold on this plan. There needs to be some type of accountability for the commission and/or check for their decisions.
I'd also like to see a plan for qualifications/selection/terms for the commission prior to supporting it.
