With all the novels and comic books that are being made into movies or shows I'm amazed that some studio hasn't given Brandon Sanderson boatloads of cash to use the Reckoners series. I mean imagine how great it could be on screen.
I have heard from various YouTubers that mistborn first book the final empire is enough to read in the series of trilogies, meaning - only read the first book!
How do you view this and your own recommendations who are cosmere fans? I don’t care about Easter eggs etc. just want to enjoy reading.
I heard the same with Dune and Hyperion that first books are basically ok to stop and don’t read the sequels.
Regards
I know that Whispersync has been "broken" (I believe disabled by publisher) for quite a while now for Stormlight 1-4. I like to be able to swap between reading and listening reasonably seamlessly depending on my situation but the lack of working Whispersync for Stormlight Archive main entries makes this more difficult, especially after a long session on one. I tried to do RoW this way and ended up having to give up on the Audible version
Is there any word on whether Whispersync will be available for Stormlight 5 or should I just assume it won't be?
Hello!
I'm from spain and friends (3 and me) and i want to go to the DragonSteel and i just read the last year the VIP Badges sold out in 20mins, u know if i need to do extra steps bcs i'm and foreigner?
Is a maximum badges by user buying? can i buy the 4 vip badges at the same time? to be more quick than the 4 of us buying individually
Thx a lot :D
i hear so many conflicting things. I want to get into brandon sanderson but i’m not sure if i should dive into stormlight first, start with mistborn and idk. I do have a lot of fantasy experience
Any ideas for names?
Should i reread way of kings and words of radiance? I read them way back in january but forgot a lot and was gonna start on oathbringer but honestly hardly remember much 😭
Hi guys, I am new to Brandon’s work and am planning on attending Dragonsteel this year. I will be flying from another state and am wondering what to expect of the conference. Should I be attending all 3 days and are there enough things to do and events to attend? Should I get regular or ViP tickets?
I haven’t gotten a vip badge previous years and was thinking of doing it this year, but was curious if they have sold out very quickly in the past, or if they are usually around for a bit?
Today at 4am I finished Rhythms of War and I don’t know what to do with myself.
This saga has left me crying, laughing and everything in between. As someone battling depression i could feel Kal’s continuous pain and suffering and that darkness looming at all times.
And boy, was I not ready for Teft’s death. That nearly broke me and I had to seriously stop reading and gather myself.
And im left with all this questions that won’t be answered until the end of the year like wtf is happening to Wit after the final pages? 10 frigging days to prepare vs Odium that is now 10 times more dangerous with Taravangian. I need to KNOOOOOOOOW.
So…not for today because I need to process, but…what should I read next from Sanderson? (This was my first venture into the Cosmere)
At the end of The Lost Metal, we last see Melaan in Shadesmare going to help a bunch of red headed people who look lost. Thats all the clues we get.
Anyone know or have good guess as to who they are.
I don't personally have spoiler qualms and have read most Cosmere books but for the secret project books - which are next! beginning with Sunlit Man
Hello everyone, I just finished 'The Final Empire'. I'm almost 28 and I've never liked reading. Thanks to a Spanish YouTuber, Alexelcapo (a true fan of Brandon Sanderson) I decided to venture into the Cosmere and started reading Mistborn. As I say, I just finished the first book, and it is literally the first complete book I have read in years. I can only be grateful for this wonderful work, I loved it from start to finish and I am speechless. Can’t wait to start the next books. I’m so happy.
I’m a huge Wheel of Time fan (first read was during lockdown and I’ve reread it twice since) and was impressed with ow Sanderson was able to complete the series, in fact his three are in my top five of the series. So I’d like to start reading his own stuff but I’d like to get some opinions on where I should start. Can y’all help a brother out?
This was a wild ride and I LOVED it sooo much. I really don't know how or why I waited so long to read it 😵💫. I can assure you though I am not waiting that long to continue with the trilogy.
Lets get the obvious part out of the way first. The magic system was beautifully phenomenal. So detailed, complex, and interesting, yet not without its "flaws" and limits. The way he slowly builds it up snd teaches you as you go along the story makes so easy to understand (shout out to the table at the end of the book 😂). Sooo good.
Now the characters were really good but it was not really the book's strongest point (I am a character first reader). Beside Kelsier, Vin, and Sazed (I will get back to them in a bit) the rest felt a bit ..... Flat. But I still liked them.
Ham and Dox felt like they are almost the same person sometimes 😅. Although both had their moments. Breeze I liked a little more with his "fancy" and sarcastic character 😆.
Marsh I was kind of meh on but that twist with him in the end and him turning into a damn inquisitor ..... DAMN 🤌🏻🔥 .... That I really did not see comming.
I also really liked how the Lord Ruler was always this big threat looming over everything while not actually being involved much in the book. Really made the feeling and effect if his power and threat much stronger.
Now to the stars of the show.
For most of the book I did not really click with Vin. I did not some more time to warm up to her, and to be honest I think I still do 😅. As a concept I really like her character, and actually understand her. Her arc was really interesting to follow, especially how she slowly learns that the whole world does not to be all evil and darkness. Hope can always be found if you look hard enough. Her journey through learning allomancy was AMAZING though. I loved how we learned most things about allomancy as she was learning it. Often actually I would find myself having the same questions she would had. I think I will end up liking her more and more in the next books.
I loved Kelsier soo much. He determination, stubbornness, and happiness (the much of it that was real at least) made him really stand out in a world where everyone else already gave up. The way he always smiles (even when he does not want to) ends up being contagious to those around him, even when they are annoyed when he is being an idiot. But that is hope I guess. Now when I read a book and one my my favourite characters dies Im like "I will not believe it until I see a bode" ...... Well Sanderson did not really give me much time to cling to that hope 😭😭. It hurt, but it was very effective. It worked.
I don't know who but with almost every good book I read my 2nd favourite character dies. Not my top favourite, always the 2nd 😭😭. Maybe I'm the problem 😂😂😂
And now to my favourite character of the bunch, which might be a ... Different .... opinion, since I see most people here love Kelsier the most.
For me, Sazed was my favourite. I loved his character so much. His calm and reassuring presence, the way he talks, how he is always there for Vin and Kel .... Everything. Like he had the perfect balance of looking and being so nice but also being one with the ability to kick you in the face 😂😂. I would really love just to sit down and have a looong conversation with him some time 🤌🏻😆.
This has been a very fun ride and loved every bit of it. If I dont come back soon (in a month or so 😂) for updates on book 2 I want you guys to bully me into it 🤣🤣🤣
Came home from work and this is what I saw when I pulled into my driveway. I'm glad I wasn't going away for the weekend!
Hello! I know this is going to be a weird request, but can anyone summarize what I missed between pages 608 and 641 of “The Way of Kings”?
I bought the books and I’m now on book 3 of the series, but it’s still bugging me that I missed 30-something pages of the first book. They were just… missing.
I tried to find contact info for the publisher but it seems their only posted info is a mailing address so I just gave up and moved on.
If anyone can let me know if anything interesting happens in those pages I’d very much appreciate it!!
Hi all! I’m planning on attending Dragonsteel Nexus this year. Due to it being quite a long flight for me (coming from the UK) I’m booking a few days either side of the convention to spend some extra time exploring Salt Lake City / Utah.
I’m looking recommendations of things to do in the area on those days - as it’s December probably things like Museums, Christmas Markets, etc.
Also how good / reliable is the public transport and are things generally walkable around the downtown area (we weren’t planning on renting a car)?
Original art by myself, companion piece to previous "Twin Hion Lines." Inspired by Yumi and the Nightmare Painter.
There is punchline. Just depends on who has the most offensive joke.
Anyone to interact with me? I love Books and anime btw🙂
Does DragonSteel have any kind of local meet up event?
I'd love to meet other Sanderson fans from my area or state while at the convention, and I'm wondering if there's any kind of formal process for that?
I know this has probably been asked here a million times 😅😅.
So far I have read The Emperor's Soul, Warbreaker, and I'm almost done with The Final Empire. I just got Arcanum Unbounded and I know about some of the stories there. Now should I read The Eleventh Metal after The Final Empire or after the trilogy??
Also if there is a list somewhere (or if someone can write here 👀) on when to read each story, that would be great :)
The Reckoner's Trilogy has been my favourite work of Brandon's. I also loved Mistborn Era 1 & I enjoyed Warbreaker.
I do have a bunch of Brandon's books in my to be read/listened to folder on audible, but right now I would like to get two of the secret projects.
Which ones should I get?
Edit:
Have read:
Steelheart
Firefight
Calamity
Mistborn
The Well of Ascension
The Hero of Ages
Warbreaker
In my library to be read:
The Way of Kings
Elantris
Arcanum Unbounded
Having an absolute blast making these bookmarks. Decided to make one for every Cosmere book!
Do you have a favourite piece of artwork from Brandon’s books or even some fan art? Share it, I’ll pick one or two and turn them in to a bookmark. If you’re in the UK and you want it, I might even send it to you 😊
