Help: I'm trying to make a "New Sanderson book" kit

Hi all, I made an account for this purpose specifically, so please excuse any mistakes

I want to make my partner (31F) a "New Sanderson book" kit for this upcoming weekend. She is a huge Sanderson fan and has been for many years. She has been so excited for Wind and Truth and has been doing a reread of Stormlight for months now. Unfortunately, she was just told this morning that the time off she had to read this book (Friday through Monday) has been taken back so she has to work. We already have plans to go get the physical copy Friday night after work, but I wanted to try and make this release special anyway

So, onto my question. What things would you put in this small basket? I already am going to make sure tissues are in it, obviously, and her favorite chocolate for the rough parts, but is there anything Cosmere specific I should add? Any fun treats or names to call things to make it a better experience? I myself am very new to this (I've only read Mistborn, but plan to continue), but I want to make this special

Any advice/ideas is appreciated!! Thanks so much

An idea inspired by Kevin Smith for how Brandon could potentially do more signings at future Dragonsteels

As someone who didn't win a ticket to any of Brandon's signings, I was incredibly bummed. It sucks to travel to a convention for an author only to not even be able to get anything signed by that author. I understand it though, there's just too many people to get everyone but I had an idea for how he could get a few more in inspired by a past experience I had where I got to see Kevin Smith film a live episode of his podcast. Prior to filming, people from the audience were able to give items to Kevin that he would then sign throughout the filming of the podcast. So I was thinking Brandon could do something similar? People who win tickets for this signing would hand an item over to Brandon's people, a sticky note or something would be put on it to mark whose it is, then these would be sat next to Brandon for him to sign while filming the live intentionally blank episodes similar to what he does with the non-live ones. I doubt he could do as much as a lightning signing, but it would atleast be a few more lucky individuals that could leave with a Sanderson signature.

Which should I read next in preparation for Wind and Truth?

Obviously don’t spoil anything. I have time for one more Cosmere book before Wind and Truth rolls out.

I’ve read all four SA books, edge dancer, mistborn era one, Tress, and Elantris. I am on book two of Mistborn era 2.

I own Sunlit Man, Dawnshard, Warbreaker, and Yumi. I of course could also buy a book on audible.

So of my options and considering what I’ve read, which should I read next to optimize the Wind and Truth read?

Sander-likes

Hi, I have currently read the entirely if Cosmere so far and I absolutely loved it!! >!Recency bias maybe but I loved Wayne so much, I always shipped Marasi and Wayne he didn't deserve to die though his death was well written off!< .

We're now 20 years into the Cosmere, ( Elantris was in 2005 ); I was wondering if there are more authors who write this type of epic fiction - Different Worlds, Interconnected stories, Magical?- who I can start to read in between BrandoSando releases which are kind of in the "early" stage of universe development. Completed works are also fine, I just love epic fantasies!

Sanderson Introduction for a Piers Anthony Fan and Vice Versa

I'm looking to get some books for my best friend's mom for Christmas. She isn't familiar with Brandon but she reads a lot of Piers Anthony. I'm not familiar with Anthony myself, but maybe someone here is, and could let me know which books would be a good Brandon introduction for her.

On the other side of the coin if Anthony has any books that are similar to Sanderson, I wouldn't mind grabbing a couple for my husband, if anyone can give advice going in that direction as well :)

Thanks everyone!

Just finished Hero of Ages (first-time reader)

Like the title says, I just finished HOA and I need just like a support group or something. Before the epilogue I was like, “this was great, but I’m not totally satisfied.” And then I read the epilogue and now I’m sobbing and I’m actually in love with this book. If this is a taste of what I have to look forward to in the Cosmere, I will need to schedule some more sessions with my therapist. Please tell me what your favorite part of the original trilogy is so that I can experience community after what I just endured, thank you.

(I marked this as spoilers in case anyone comments anything spoiler-y)

Skyward Series

I am a huge fan of Sanderson and have read every book he has put out ... except for the Skyward series. I was wondering yalls opinion on these books? Are they aimed more at young adult? If so do they still compare to his cosmere books? I am working on a reading list for after Wind and Truth and was debating adding these.

What book did you appreciate more on a re-read? (RoW spoilers)

For me it was Rhythm of War. At first it felt way too long for what felt like a much smaller and less epic story. Compared to previous books that ended in a large scale sanderlanche of a battle, we got kaladin crawling around air ducts and fighting his dad, adolin in some court room drama, shallan being wimpy while trying to find a spy, backstories for characters I did not care about, and navani learning what seemed to me the equivalent of Mongolian throat singing. And my favorite character, Dalinar, had almost no screen time. What gives??

However, because I knew what to expect this time around, re-reading the rhythm of war allowed me to greatly appreciate the deep nuances the books.

As dense as he may have been for attempting to represent himself, and all of humanity accidentally, in the face of the stubborn honorspren, Adolin’s honor and loyalty was immensely commendable. Not only did he prove them wrong, but he did so because of his loyalty and care for Maya. His relationship with maya also has major and exciting implications for all the deadeyes on Roshar.

Although Dalinar barely had screen time, I recognized that as he had already experienced his character arc in the last book, it felt more appropriate to use his time in this book to prepare him for what’s more to come in book 5, where he is surely bound to have a much more direct role in the story.

I also came to acknowledge the internal conflicts and guilt that Venli had experienced. Watching her recognize the irreversible mistakes she had made for her family, her, people, and Roshar, as well as her attempts to make reparations for them was redeemable in my eyes to say the least.

The crippling anxiety that shallan experienced, along with her immediate urge to hide away, when she was under the impression that one of her closest companions may have been a spy should not be overlooked or dismissed. For a girl to have as messed up of a childhood as she had, it was almost inspirational for me to see her finally come to terms with her traumatic past and reconcile the multiple personalities she fabricated in order to hide from the pain and anxiety.

Despite struggling with self-doubt and nightmares, Kaladin’s strength and resilience to save others while carving his own path shined when he still pushed himself to crawl through the dark corners of the tower while working with navani to save it.

And speaking of navani, by far my favorite thing of this book was her scholarly relationship with raboniel. It was such a full circle moment to see navani experiencing imposter syndrome from the very beginning of the prologue, to see her being recognized as a true scholar by an ancient one. The respect they had for each other, which ultimately lead to raboniel’s heartfelt sacrifice was also deeply satisfying.

Overall, I still think Rhythm of War could have been a bit shorter, but I have now come to like this book more than Oathbringer. What are some of the books you liked more after reading-reading them and why?

Words of Radiance

So I’m 42% through this book and just got acquainted with Sebarial and Palona and they may have instantly become two of my favorite characters. Imagining Matt Berry and Helena Bonham Carter in my fan casting.

(Will never finish books 2, 3, and 4 before Wind and Truth)

Perfect condition mistborn 4,5 and 6 for £10!

Got these on Facebook marketplace for £10. Unread and basically perfect condition. They’ve sat in a drawer so they don’t even have sunlight discolouration.

[Audiobooks] GraphicAudio adaptations or standard reading? I want to listen to these, but I'm not sure what the difference in content will be.

I know GraphicAudio books are usually full cast with sound effects and/or music, but I don't know if they'll be abridged or not. I would really prefer not to have an abridged audiobook if I can avoid it (which in this case, I can). Could anyone help me decide what's right for me?

Re post minus personal info Finished my 5th re listen of oathbringer on my first 50mile ride! Also a quick thank you to Brandon

Ive been prepping for wind and truth and this quote came at a hard part of the ride and really helped me push that last 15 miles! Also ive been wanting to make a post as a thank you to Brandon. Brandon your books (especially Dalinars struggles) and listening to your podcast make me want to do more and be a better father to my 4 kids. So just thank you for helping inspire me to keep taking that next step for both my family and myself.

Copies of W&T sold at Nexus?

Can anyone confirm if there will be copies of wind and truth being sold at Dragonsteel Nexus? I preordered a signed copy and also got a lightning signing ticket. So I need another copy of W&T.

After Wind and Truth, Brandon Sanderson's next project should be...

For someone who hasn't read sanderson's books yet, seems like a nice and pleasant person, would be a perfect match to write a superman comic
