The claws are as thick as the branch: common kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) [OC] [1929x2894]

Unfortunately, the sky has been cloudy for days, but I still walked with my camera to the nearby nature reserve in search of the next photo opportunity. And already on the way there, this pretty kestrel greeted me.

Shot with a Canon EOS R and a RF200-800mm F6.3-9 IS USM lens in the Örmis nature reserve near Illnau, Switzerland.

Always a joy, the very shy Eurasian jay (Garrulus glandarius) [OC] [1849x2775]

Even though the light was far from optimal with an overcast sky and pretty dark clouds, I went for a walk with my camera in the Wildert nature reserve near Illnau, Switzerland. And today I was lucky and saw several of these beautiful, but very shy birds. Usually, they fly away before I even notice them. Luckily, I managed to take a photo today. Shot with a Canon EOS R and a RF100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 lens + a RF1.4x extender.

Ready for takeoff: Red Kite (Milvus milvus) [OC] [1122x1685]

This red kite was actually resting on the branch. But just as I wanted to take a photo, it flew away. Fortunately, that made for this "action" shot. It was very far away. Therefore, I had to crop the photo quite a bit even though I used a Canon EOS R with a RF100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 lens + a RF1.4x extender…

A regular guest in my garden: A great tit (Parus major) [OC] [2442x3663]

Even though great tits are among the most regular visitors to my garden, I still enjoy their agile flying skills.
