In trying to buy a ticket here on this sub. Trying to know how can I make sure that he’s legit. He told me he sold some tickets here before. Anyone remember buying tickets from him. Thanks.
I’m debating on getting shoes now, or waiting until he releases a pair. I’m between the KD 17s, New Balance Two Wxy, or the New Balance Hesi Low. However, if Trae comes out with a shoe within the next year I’d rather wait until then. Do y’all think that’s gonna happen? Or is he just signing to Jordan for the sake of being able to wear various Jordan models in game?
Here are our next 16 games:
San Antonio
Memphis
Minnesota
Chicago
Miami
Toronto
Denver
Lakers
Clippers
Utah
Phoenix
Houston
Phoenix
Chicago
Boston
New York
We get Utah, Toronto, and Chicago twice. Otherwise every damn one of them motherfuckers is at or way above .500 and are top-6 contenders if not division favorites. Holy shit that's a rough stretch man the boys need to get ready to work, will be interesting to see how we fare.
DFS helps alleviate Jalen’s minutes at PF and provides more 3 point shooting/spacing. Thoughts?
because y'all keep making trade posts
I'll admit I'm not really a Hawk's fan so I haven't watched a ton of games the last few years. As a USC alum though, always been a big fan of Okongwu, and catch parts of Hawks games every so often to watch him play. A lot of what I see in the Hawk's reddit the past year or so is pretty negative on Okongwu - I see a lot of: he's less effective than Capela, that he's not a good rebounder, can't consistently shoot the 3 (although he's clearly trying to incorporate it into his game), or more generically, that he's just too short/small to be a starting C. Or even just a lot of "OO sucks" type of comments lol
I'm not sure if he's more of an easy scapegoat when the Hawks lose and if people are disappointed in his production so far relative to where he was drafted, or if he's genuinely worse than the numbers suggest or from what I've seen when I watch the Hawks. He was a pretty high BBIQ guy at USC so it's hard for me to believe he's stat-chasing or significantly worse than his numbers suggest, and his stats in general and many advanced stats (totally understand some advanced stats are dumb/pointless lol) suggest he's actually a pretty solid player.
Here's my thoughts to spur some discussion:
The Positives:
- Decently well-rounded on offense. At least compared to Capela, he is a massive upgrade in being able and willing to finish around the basket outside of being spoon-fed by Trae. Has a variety of little hooks/flips and has some basic counters when he knows he has a mismatch. More effective at finishing putpacks off OREBs than Capela who ends up kicking the ball back out off OREBs too often imo. ~17 pts per36 on solid TS% is not shabby at all for a big man who doesn't have plays run for him.
- Has increased his assist rate AND decreased his TO rate pretty consistently every year since he came into the league. He's not Jokic by any means, but this shows a clear and steady improvement in his offensive awareness and understanding his role.
- Has flashed near-elite defensive potential as a rim protector and overall defensive versatility. Still struggles with the Jokic's, Sabonis', Embiid's of the league (who doesn't), but I think he has the BBIQ to learn to how to defend these players positionally with the right defensive scheme as a team. Look at someone like a Horford or Marc Gasol who were great defenders, but it wasn't because they dominated physically (neither were particularly athletic; Horford was short for a 5 and Gasol was slow for a 5), it was because they were smart, knew player's tendencies and played the %, and most importantly, their teams had great defensive schemes. Will need to become more aggressive and learn how to go for the defensive plays he is capable of without getting into foul trouble.
The Negatives:
- Defensive rebounding is well below average at face value. On the other hand, I think this is somewhat amplified by Okongwu's role as the backup big to come in and run the floor hard and help the team play faster compared to when Capela is on the floor. Plenty of great teams have played with 5s that are worse defensive rebounders than Okongwu (Al Horford, Brook Lopez, Draymond Green etc.), and with Jalen Johnson at PF, I don't think this is THAT big a deal. Obviously an area for improvement though.
- Block rate and overall defensive impact has gone down over time as Okongwu has learned to foul less. He will need to find a way to provide the rim protection and defensive versatility he flashed in college and early on in his career without getting into foul trouble if he wants to be a starting C. He has shown the BBIQ that I think he will be able to find this balance given enough time and reps, as well as a hopefully improved whistle compared to how rookie bigs are usually reffed.
- Shooting stroke and %s haven't shown enough improvement to suggest he has a good chance to become an above average 3PT shooter on a significant volume in the mold of a Brook Lopez or Al Horford. The steady improvement in FT% and willingness to shoot 3s shows that he's working on it at least, and I think he has a decent chance to be okay enough for it to still benefit the offense compared to a strict rim-running C with no shooting.
Overall, I still think OO can become a solid starting C in the league. He may not be the franchise cornerstone people hope to get at #6, but I think he's a smart player that is pretty solid in most aspects that you want your 5 to be effective in. I don't see any reason he can't be somewhere along the Poeltl-Zubac-Jarrett Allen spectrum of solid starting 5s in the league. It really all comes down to team success. Someone like Jarrett Allen gets his flowers because the Cavs are having a lot of success and he plays his role well. He's averaging 13/10/2 with a steal and block, something Okongwu would probably average today if he was getting 30 mpg. On the other hand, Poeltl is more or less forgotten because he's playing on a tanking team, even though they have pretty comparable skill sets.
Anybody got any questions, I’ll ask them. Should be fun.
Whats the realistic trade you make if Landry gave you carte blanche?
I been thinking. Obviously there’s a consensus that we need to upgrade our 5 spot in due time. But let’s say we wanted to make a move before the trade deadline, do we even have any assets that we can trade?
For example an upgrade for Capela or OO means we can’t just swap each guy like for like, there would have to be other assets involved.
I’m heavily against trading anymore picks, especially the ones we have this year. We’ve already seen how moving picks goes, and there’s no point squandering a first for an incremental upgrade that’s not gonna move us within a championship window.
Then you move to the players. I’d say no one in the top 8 rotation can be traded without an upgrade or like for like. Then the next group of guys. Vit?, Garry Bird? Roddy? Not sure how much value there is in there.
Maybe Larry nance, or we trade OO and use nance??
In my opinion I hope we aren’t too active in the deadline. This roster obviously we need moves to be done but I think that’s an offseason story with the draft and FA involved. I just don’t see us having any assets at the moment that are
What do youse think?
What do yall think is the ceiling for this team in my opinion I think we can to final but get are ass handed to okc
I think the most I’d give up is like Clint, Hunter and that Lakers first. Even that may be too much.

APG vs SPG for all players this season
Trae Young is by far the APG leader this season and Dyson Daniels is by far the SPG leader. Both are averaging the most a player has averaged in their respective stat since at least the turn of the century.
The last player to average 3+ SPG was Alvin Robertson in 1991 (Alvin Robertson has the record for highest SPG in a season).
The last player to average 12+ APG was John Stockton in 1996 (John Stockton has the record for highest APG in a season).
Here are the current season APG and SPG leaders (notice how far ahead Trae and Dyson are):
And here is a look at the season leaders of each stat since the turn of the century (starting with 2001):
Both players' seasons stack up to some of the greats of the game. It's pretty cool that we have two players that are having historic seasons in a certain category. Hopefully they can keep it up.
P.S. Shoutout Chris Paul for getting on both historic APG and SPG lists. Some of you may remember that 07-08 season he finished as runner-up for MVP of the league.
This was always meant to be a developmental year for the Hawks, but it’s like everyone is itching for the front office to make some big move. I truly don’t think anything is gonna happen though. I honestly don’t even see Larry Nance being traded at this point. The Jazz and Nets are gonna want too much for Kessler and Claxton, and neither of those moves make the Hawks contenders anyway. Everyone seemingly wants to make a move just for the sake of making one.
I watched the entire game and it was clear that we (the Hawks) weren’t able to adjust our offense when Giannis and Brook Lopez were hanging around the rim defensively.
Lopez finished the game with a +21 rating, while the next highest on the Bucks was a +8. It was frustrating to watch the guys put up difficult shots around the rim when Lopez was in the game. Especially when we were killing it from 3. We only took 24 3s compared to the Bucks 45.
What could we have done to avoid this outcome? Lopez wasn’t coming out of the paint on pick and rolls and for some reason we didn’t switch to an offensive style that generates more 3s.
I think we did a decent job on defense but if the Bucks hit a couple more of their open looks we would have lost worse.
And the mystery unveils. I really love this guys work ethic he’s going to be okay. I’m glad he’s a hawk. 🦅
Obviously these guys didn’t look into the games or trae much, stat sheets showed he was a playmaker but yet still had hogger allegations? Who started the narrative and why did it keep continuing despite the Cinderella run we had dismissing that narrative alone?

Hello Hawks fans, I am a Blazers fan. Any interest in a deal for Ayton? He is definitely inconsistent and can drive you nuts, but when engaged is really good. Could be a really good fit with Trae and JJ. Something like Ayton and Jabari Walker for Capela, Nance, and a pick. What do you think?
