Holy fuckk !! What i just witness right now lmaoo, one of the biggest plot twist ever with that immunity that Vic get holy shit i'm still shocked 😂.

Incredible performance by Michael Chiklis, i still have one épisode left but damn it's the P4P of series, GOATED, BEST OF ALL TIME, Shawn Ryan made THE ultimate show ( breaking Bad, sons of anarchy, banshee, vikings or even GOT... For me they don't even come close to this one )

First Time Watch

I finally finished this show for the first time. Watched it back in the day but dropped off at some point. I think I watched it off Netflix DVD's via mail, so it was a long time ago. Had the box set on my shelf for forever so finally finished it off.

I'm guessing I dropped off around Season 4 and after watching the whole series I can see why. The beginning of season 4 is a drag to get through. Glenn Close's character is such a drastic change at first, but becomes better as the season goes on. I still have a soft spot for the first few seasons over the last half, but season 5 and 7 were really good. The addition of Kavanaugh made the show exciting again.

I always had some vision of Dutch ending up being a serial killer but they never ran with that. They even played with that idea in the last episode. I think that actually would have been a pretty interesting route to take that character.

Some of the episodes are still rough and edgy even by today's standards. That Acaveda assault scene is still tough to watch.

Also, can someone help me out with the Vic/Danny baby thing - the last thing I remember about this plot line was Vic demanding some rights and it looked like Danny was packing up her house to move, but I don't remember a follow-up to that. Looked like she was pulling a Corrine and GTFO.

Random complaints about the old DVD box set I have: lack of pre-show recaps on season 7 and I believe another season. No subtitles on season 7 as well.

Favorite episode/moment from the show?

I know a lot of people are in love with season 5 but if I had to pick one moment from the entire series, I would have to say it’s the end of S1 E10. Dutch breaking down crying in the car while that song plays after he nails Sally’s killer is just epic. (Spectacular use of music in this series generally btw)

Vic's Tics

After several rewatches, you start to notice some of Vic's mannerisms and tics.... such as:

  • how he puts on a jacket or coat, swinging it all the way over his head

  • how he drives a car, with his right hand on the gear shift

  • when he knows someone is lying and how he gets super close and almost has a smile on his face

People who dislike the women on the show, really need to watch the Sopranos

Listen, I get it. We have our main characters in anybody against them we don’t like. But even characters like Mara genuinely seem to care about their significant others and their kids. They aren’t completely reprehensible human beings.

Some of the characters on sopranos seriously make the shield characters look like scenes in comparison. If you’re a fan of the show, and haven’t seen the Sopranos, get to it!

Woman Aceveda gets rough with

So s4ish david starts a frequent rough sex relationship with a woman...they meet like they're complete strangers but she's the same actress that accused him of raping her in college or something in s1. Is this ever addressed or explained?

Season 2 Episode 4 - The first time Vic and Shane see the Money Train

I'm on a rewatch and feel like I'm forgetting something or maybe wasn't paying attention while I was watching, but after the arrest of the Armenians everyone checks out the locations that Vic had, and Vic and Shane go to the 'mysterious address on Escovida' where they see the Money Train.

They'd been told earlier in the episode that the Money Train runs out of LA every couple of months - was it just chance/a plot device that the night they went there it was happening?

Why couldn't Lemansky just told the truth?

He was going to be sent to jail because that IAD agent found the brick of tar or whatever in his car. But he genuinely forgot about it so why couldn't he say that? He didn't seem like he had a lot of controversy and rumors surrounding him like Vic. He was able to work with kids even. Shouldn't that have bought him some goodwill to believing him? Everyone shouldn't just turn their backs on him for just a simple mistake.

Golden showers

S1, E7 - pay in pain

Ok side vent on the show, I hate the term "uni".

But for the real post, when talking to the gang cop Vic says you don't get answers by passing hugs, and the officer retorts "you don't get them by pissing on them either". Vic reacts almost with curiosity... Any one intrigued by this reaction?

Is he wondering why he wasn't ratted out?

Was he surprised that the gang cop was still that plugged in?

How I edged The Shield....and how it paid off

First off, this was a show that I have known about forever, so many people told me to watch it, just never dove in, until about a six weeks or so.

I was going through one of the most frightening and anxiety filled times of my life. One way for me to deal is to zone out on good tv, if for nothing else then to keep the negative thoughts at bay for a few hours before bed. I began watching The Shield and of course I had no idea what happened and somehow I never heard any spoilers, so I gave it a try.

I was immediatetly hooked and I could see by the first episode that the hype was well deserved. You guys ! I had no idea just how incredible this show was! I plowed through seasons 1-5 and realized just how confused I was at certain storylines. Why? because I obviosly knodded out and kept going onto the next episode. So, I pulled the breaks and started from the beginning determined to catch every minute, this show is a feast and deserves the attention to subtleties.

I then found a great podcast called The Shattered Shield , which served to clear up all the questions. I stayed far away from this sub and all spoilers.

So I then began Season 6 and rolled into Season 7, but this show is SOOOO good that I didnt want it to end. I stopped at S7 ep5 and started it again at S2 and watched again...slowly. I then found myself at the precipice of S7. But I waited. I waited because in my real life, I was waiting for something to "go-through" that would either make or break me, extreme stress. I tip-toed into S7 and got to ep5 again and decided that I would wait one more day for my possible good news /or not good news. The thought was this: if I got bad news, I had some excellent tv to keep me from drowning in sadness, If I got good news, well then, Ive got the best show to watch and enjoy fully without all my mental stress.

I did get that good news on Monday. I was free to watch again. And boy , did I.

The payoff was grand and beautiful ! Im still blown away by the ending, cant stop thinking about how well it all fit together, the nuance, the acting, the writing...all of it. I even found myself looking up the set for the Barn, which was brilliant! The set alone is a marvel, couldnt keep my eyes off those interrogation rooms. (Im a painter who has done work on stage sets and props) I always look at the details.

So, as I am inclined to do with shows that I adore, I start a rewatch. But as of right now, Im just letting it sink in a bit. I may start S7 again soon and really savor the season again as its the one that I havent watched again (and again)

Ive scoured this sub, found a lot of great posts and insights, and , well, thats it.

Just another day...

Season 5 ending

I finished season 5, the best season of the series and what can I say? I shed a tear... Poor Lem, it's one of the saddest deaths of all series 😭 Vic's reaction made me cry too and Shane this asshole... Selfish and stupid I hope he will die as soon as possible.

Congrats to Goggins, incredible performance in this ep too

What do you think about Tevon's character writing?

Yo, just wanted to know what's the feeling on this sub about Tevon's character. I always found a writing weakness of the series to keep his storyline on hold, ignoring it, for seasons and seasons and then close his storyline at the very end. What do you guys think about the character in general?

Need help finding last episode I watched!

I watched the shield a long time ago, probably +15 years ago on TV, and I'd like some help to find out where should I continue from.

I remember >!Shane killing Lemanksy,!< I think this is the end of season 5, then I think I saw an episode >!where Shane and Vic meet, and Vic asks Shane to look him in the eye and tell him if he killed Lemanksy and Shane admits it,!< which episode was this?

Does anyone know the name of that one Spanish nu-metal song that plays during raid in either season 1 or 2?

Season 5

It's okay guys, it became my all-time series after this season, I didn't think I'd find something as poignant as sons of anarchy but after this season... Acting is at its premium, Forest Whitaker excels in the role of antagonist it's crazy and poor Lem 😭
