Hi I have a 2021 Forester, and whenever I turn the car on the radio is automatically on, to whatever volume I had at the last ride. I never listen to the radio. For example, I’ll listen to a podcast or audiobook on my phone and the next morning turn the car on to a loud local radio station. My wife’s 2019 Forester does not have this problem. Any solutions???
The whole piece that holds the heated seat switches got pushed into the console. How do I get them back up and prevent them from getting pushed into again?
Went to grab medicine and in the middle of the snowstorm and she took it like a champ! Used the paddles to slow down on hills so my breaks wouldn’t lock up and didn’t have any problems. I love this car
2011 forester, driving through a storm knocked down one of my plastic mud guards. Saw my sensor covered in foil when I went to put it back on. Bought it from a used car lot back in July
What’s up Subie fam. 2016 Subaru forester owner.
I recently started decking out my car. Nothing crazy, a bit superficial. Kind of Colorado-izing it. New bike rack, Snow tires, replacing a cracked windshield. I have long term goals of building it out for camping a little. Nothing too intense but giving it more storage and comfortable sleep-ability whether that’s a roof top tent or a cozy back seat bed. BUT I’m getting this urge to buy new rims/wheels seeing some super dope foresters around here with bronze or black rims. Does anyone have any brands? Price ranges they suggest? I have my stock wheels on there right now.
NOW, time for the dummy questions. -Is there a difference between replacing wheels and rims? Obviously, I know the tires are interchangeable. But do the rims interchange from my wheels? Or would I be buying different wheel completely? -should I keep my old rims/wheels? I heard some people keep one set of seasonal tires on one set of wheels and one on the other? -is this a dumb pursuit? I know new rims are mostly for show but is there ANY functional value to this replacement? 145,000 miles on her and planning to drive it forever.
Thanks team!
Why does my forester idle this weirdly.
I have a 2010 Subaru Forester that had a check engine light.. when reading the codes from the dashboard it was giving P0302 (Cylinder 2 misfire). Took it to a shop, they did a free diagnostic, and said that Cylinder 4 was misfiring as well (P0304).
They said they couldn't work on the engine because it's a boxer, and they have to take the engine out. Gave the car to me, and it wouldn't start, just cranked. They said to give it some gas and it turned on but was idling pretty low, but then fixed itself.
They had also cleared the codes.. and the check engine light isn't coming back. Is this fine? The car still accelerates sluggishly and idles low sometimes.
My dog jumped up on my center console and his nails poked holes in the leather. It's just cosmetic, but I'd like to know if I have any options for getting something like this fixed.
Does anyone have any experience with something similar?
If so, were you able to fix it yourself or take it somewhere?
Dealer tech says nothing wrong found (they probably don't bother test driving) this is on good/ moderate roads. Used to only have a slight rattle from Eyesight system but now this is where the noise issue really is. Only 40K on the Forester, never offroaded, just baby-cruised down highways and good national park roads.
I live on coast. This week we had flooding and I turned into a street right before it was closed and had to drive through about 4 inches of water, there was no alternative. Would a 2" lift help if I am in a position where I have to wade through water?
Note: I am not promoting nor do I want to drive through water. It is dangerous and should be avoided if at all possible but based on where I live, I'm not sure if it always will be.
I Purchased a used 2024 Forrester Wilderness…. What is the recommended fuel grade? 87 or 89?
I’ve read in many places that Subaru engines are just louder than others, but I’m not sure if the lighter ticking or deeper knocking noise seems out of place. Engine is running after a 15 minute drive on a 4°C day. Oil level is good and the engine has 73000 kms on it. Exhaust also had water sputtering out of it. Anything to worry about? It’s my first car so every little sound has me thinking
Super stupid I know!
I am used to driving low to the ground Hondas and recently purchased a 2015 Subaru Forester PZEV. I noticed on the highway when I’m going 60mph+ plus I kinda feel like I’m swerving a little bit, this is during really windy days. Not swerving like into other lanes but I find myself moving left and right in my lane. Does anyone else ever feel like this? I feel crazy 😂
Found a large puff of shredded fabric and a mouse skeleton sitting on the engine block. Winter’s coming!
SG9 needs front lower control arm rear bushes. Do I need to remove the arm or can I just unbolt the bush from the body and arm, smack it off then bolt a new one on?
Hey guys. First time posting but lurked for a while. Just wanted to let you guys know of my (sorta) success with towing past capacity. The base model is rated to tow 1500lbs max.
Well my friends... I did over double that. I just completed a 600 mile round trip tow. I have a class 3 hitch, sway bars and wireless braking. Dealership said I could tow 5000lbs now! Not that I'd try ..
But I bought an RV that weighs just shy of 3400lbs. Before I left for the trip I had my tires checked, balanced and rotated. Did an oil change and all my required maintenance. Hitch et al cost me about $2000.
And... I made it. Driving over 60mph put a hard strain on the engine so I kept it set at 55mph. Braking like a pro. And while I did take a huge hit at mileage (averaged 13mpg) nothing else seemed off.
So while you CAN tow 3400lbs with $2k in equipment, I definitely don't recommend it.
I’m starting feel at a loss for what’s a good deal and what isn’t when cars.com and other sites have similar cars for more money. I’m even looking at premiums with less bells and whistles for more $.
2016 Forester XT @ 82K miles
After a slightly fun drive I saw smoke and a faint burning smell near the engine bay. I saw faint smoke on the headlight beam while leaving, however the smoke was so little that it wasn't visible at all once the headlights turned off. I opened the hood but I couldn't see anything off, the only thing I noticed was a slight oil deposit on the plate right underneath the oil filter. Even that didn't seem like a lot
Anyone else noticed this? Should I be concerned?
Edit: Now that I think about it, it did smell a bit like a burnt clutch smell. However, I didn't feel anything out of the ordinary while driving. I was driving in S mode for a while, is the slight burnt clutch smell normal after it?
I have an appointment Saturday afternoon to trade my 2017 Forester for a 2024 Wilderness. Are there any particular add-ons or extras that you’d recommend? Any that aren’t worth the money and I should avoid?
Hello, I’m about to buy a forester and currently I have a few cars to choose from and I would like to ask is there a big difference between 2015 and 2017 facelift version? There is very decent 2015 car with low mileage (88000ml) and in very good shape and also there is 2017 Turing but was slightly damaged at front (nothing super critical just bumper, radiator and hood) with 110000ml but cockpit and body is much more worn out.
Does anyone know if the 2017 Starlink is capable of changing the color highlights? I can change the background colors, there are 5 options. I cannot seem to change the highlight color, and it looks like there are 14 of them (on the left in the attached image).
Anyone else get the pop up request to perform a software update? I’m hoping it will fix the Bluetooth calling drop offs and heated seat issues.
I've never owned a cvt transmission before and I have been having trouble with it being jerky anytime I stop and then start again it jerks when I try to accelerate. I've watched a lot of YouTube videos and can't really find anything. Was wondering is it possible to check myself or do I need to bring it in?
So, my 5 month old Wilderness Edition just crapped out this afternoon. Driving home, strange noises came out of the engine compartment, loss of power and finally died. Had to have it towed to the dealership.. waiting to hear what happened.
Bummer… I was so excited to buy my first Subaru….
