I had some workers at the house doing a bit of landscaping and I think my fiber got shoveled. I'm not mad at them. it wasn't deliberate, and I was standing there when it happened (I think).
Anyone else do this? Of course it happens on a Friday night. I mostly just want to complain, and be sad
Hi everyone,
Last year sometime Longmont put up a competition to see what the new town mascot would be. I made a suggestion very very very similar to Monty. I didn’t give him a name but called him The Longmonster. I never heard back but Monty seems to be very similar to my initial entry description. Just wondering if anyone ever posted the winner of the competition or if multiple people in Longmont came up with very similar ideas. I know Longmonster isn’t unique to my idea as that’s what the residents have been called for sometime. But the actual character design of Monty is near exactly what I described in my entry.
Just drove by on the way home from work and they had the road to the east of the library blocked off. The other end had several more uniformed service vehicles with their lights on. Just curious if anyone knew what was going on.
I need landscaping done. I am facing HOA fines. Trees trimmed, weeds, general make it look better. Suggestions?
Hello Longmont neighbors from a Westminster resident. As our local spot, Standley Lake, is now closed to watercraft as of 9/30, but the weather continues to be summer-like, we want to keep kayaking!
I can't find any info on McIntosh Lake seasonal closures. Is it still open for SUP and kayaks? Also, how is the water level if so? (Standley is super low now due to no rain and all the heat...) Thank you!
Hey everyone. I’m looking for somewhere to have my son’s 6th birthday party. Between 5-15 kids depending on price. He just wants to have a good time with friends. I’m trying to ball on a budget so any recommendations are appreciated. 🙏 thank you 😊

My whole house is fine except for this one spot. If possible, I'd like it repaired or replaced. Any recommendations for whom you'd call for such a task?
Hey Longmonsters! (Love the new mascot, Monty- look him up if you haven’t seen him 😂- but also gotta admit as a friend to fowl that I do wish the regal goose were chosen & restored to the venerability it seemed to enjoy here in times of yore….)
Anyway, you all have been so helpful, kind, welcoming and supportive on each post and in person, and always so grateful! Thus, I turn to yall with another (humbling) question:
Where might you take yourself out for your birthday if you were spending it alone?
Probably prefer somewhere around town, but am definitely open to suggestions from Boulder-ish to, say, Loveland? I think I’m formulating dinner plans, so probably asking more- where might you take yourself out for a birthday drink?
This will be the first birthday I’ve ever spent alone- I don’t have family, am still newish to CO and have made a close friend, but it’s her anniversary weekend lol! My feelings about it on the day will probably be mixed, but wanna choose to celebrate it as a special day for myself & see it as freeing instead of depressing.
Since it’s a treat, open to whatever price point, vibe, etc- but will say I’m an early 30s woman, so maybe not the roughest of places? 😅
Thanks as always in advance, creep it real this month & see yall at the Halloween parade!
Hi everyone, I am F33 new in Longmont from Europe, I will be interested to find a club or a group to play baseball or softball with.
Do you have any recommendation? Please thank you
Hi guys so I hate to do this but I am planning on going to Longmont to visit for a personal reason but I won’t be having much cash on me. I’ll be using all of my money to fund my trip out there so I was wondering if I could stay at a homeless shelter for like a night or two or somewhere where they offer meals??
Will I even be allowed to show up , I won’t be looking homeless but I will be because I don’t have any money or food to get a hotel or buy me food but idk if they would accept me.
Could anyone offer any help please
Hi all!
I’m planning a one-day drive this weekend to see some beautiful fall colors and was hoping for some recommendations. Ideally, I’m looking for locations that are within a 2-3 hour drive from Boulder and currently have good fall foliage. Would love any suggestions on scenic routes or specific spots that are at peak color right now.
Thanks in advance for your help
Can anyone here speak to how much road noise there is living directly off of hover? We’re looking at moving, but haven’t ever lived off of a main road. The most we’ve dealt with is the train horn. My husband is concerned we won’t be able to enjoy the home or yard because of the noise caused by the street.
Any and all insight is appreciated!
Edit: Thank you so much to everyone for giving me this huge list of places to go. It really made me feel good to know there's still a lot out there I can do.
I'm aware of some of the walking trails around the ponds here but I'm looking for something a little more "hikey" (is that a word?). Bit further away from neighborhoods, not just pure flat, scenery, etc. Ive had good luck at the YMCA in Estes but don't always want to drive quite that far. I can do some easy inclines but nothing too steep and stairs are out of the question. Hoping this knee thing gets fixed at some point but I really miss it and don't want to just sit at home every weekend. Any recommendations?
I just started weight lifting and I want to measure my progress. Ideally somewhere that doesn't charge an obscene price

“The Street Project” is the story about humanity’s relationship to the streets and the global citizen-led fight to make communities safer. Digging deep into the root causes of traffic violence, the filmmakers engage a diverse array of experts including street historian Peter Norton, city planner Jeff Speck, and urban design expert Mikael Colville-Andersen. These expert interviews are interwoven with the stories of real people working to make their communities safer.
October 17 at 6-7:30pm in the City Council Chambers in the Civic Center. Free - Registration required (yes it says age 55+ I've asked them to fix it, but...).
I was recently in Europe and ate a bunch of kebabs - Do we have anything similar around here that I just don't know about?
preferably like the image I took?
I almost forgot!
Happy Wednesday my longmonster crew!

Hi Everyone!
I love Longmont and would like to live there. I got offered a remote job that pays $65k and I’m just wondering if that is enough to live comfortably in Longmont? Ideally I’d like to rent a little place with a yard for my dog, walkable to something . Any thoughts would be helpful!
Anyone else happen to catch the drone show they did the other night off Qual Rd?? Was leaving to go to the store at about 7pm or so, and we happened to catch a glimpse of about 3-4 mins worth a of drone show. It was right over The Innovation Center. It was really cool.
I'm just impressed with how things seem to be around here. Only moved here in April, and it feels like the people here care about the city. I put in a traffic light complaint a week ago where it wasn't detecting my car at an intersection and then forgot about it. Today the head tech called me to ask about it, said he adjusted the timing for the lights (added 5 seconds to the affected street) and has been watching the signal for failures. Told me to call his desk with the direct number anytime with other light issues. I've never experienced that kind of care from any city office before, usually this kind of stuff just gets swept under their other requests and never see the light of day again.
Total small town vibes, but in a good way.
Also, downtown Main St is surprisingly walkable, cross lights are super responsive and drivers are more than courteous (99% anyway). Every interaction I've had in stores and restaurants have been friendly with smiles and conversation. Library seems well maintained too. Feels like there's a decent community here and I'm all for it.
So far I can only complain about the crappy roads but it seems like that's all of CO and just comes with the beautiful weather and seasons here.
So I'm wondering what kind of things are yall NOT satisfied with here, or is it really just pleasant-ville?
PS: I'm coming from 8yrs in NYC so I guess my standards could be a bit skewed though.
EDIT: Can't reply to all the comments, but I'm glad I'm not the only one enjoying this place :) I've lived in a several places my life and finally I feel like settling down here. It's great. QOL is amazing. Hope it stays this way for a good while.
Is there good BBQ in Longmont? I've had GA Boys which is OK, and whatever it is at Parkway food hall.
Looking for larger pieces of cardboard in decent condition (sturdy, minimal creases) for a home project with my kids. Big appliance boxes, etc, anything like that where I can get pieces at least 36” X 36” or bigger. If you have any you haven’t hauled to recycle yet, I can pick up this afternoon.
The Elks are having their Elktonerfest today. Open to the public.
My email notification of what’s being delivered that day arrives in my inbox early morning. Friday had a picture of my ballot. Didn’t receive it yesterday or today. Has anyone received their ballots?
