Just received my Letter of Map Change from FEMA that my property is no longer in the 100 year floodplain. The flood that inspired the City of Boulder project occurred eleven years ago. The mitigation was functionally completed six years ago with an "official" completion date of five years ago.
It seems absolutely insane to me that it took eleven years for this project to be completed. It seems possibly more insane that five to six of the past eleven years property owners with a mortgage were mandated to carry flood insurance for mitigation efforts that were already done.
Anyone else in a similar situation a tad miffed about this?
They've been working on this intersection for weeks but now found a worse break in the gas pipe and closed the entire intersection. Only car access to Platt MS is from the east. RTD not running anymore on Baseline either.
What's going on there @ Cherryvale and Baseline? Was redirected and lots of first responders...
Hello! As the title says, i’m looking for someone who has some flexibility to take my dog to Dry Creek Trailhead a couple times during the week while I’m working. He gets exercise daily before and after work but he’s an aussie and wants to play 24/7 and it would make us both happier if someone could take him to this trail during the day and play ball with him. The trail is a certified ‘voice & sight’ park (meaning if you have the tag then the dog can be off leash) and he is voice and sight certified and does wonderful off leash and with other dogs. I will pay $20 to take him around the trail loop (typically takes about 30-40 min). If interested, please DM me! Thanks.
Admittedly, I'm ignorant about funding cycles and the mechanisms in place to secure or disrupt funding for research and development programs. That said, I'm curious if anyone has insight into our scientific community's future job security. How difficult will it be for the incoming administration to defund Boulder's scientific institutions? How long before those funding cuts result in a reduction in staff? Can anyone share how funding cuts will negatively affect their ongoing research? Lastly, how can we, as a community, help?
hello all, i am in the process of moving out and amongst all my roommates we found a bunch of canned food and some other unexpired unopened food. we were hoping to donate but unsure of where to go. does anyone know anywhere we can drop off those goods?
and how to get rid of it?
Hey all! It's happening again! 6-9pm. It's a sober event this time, so no alcohol will be served. Please enjoy one of their other beverages (ie coffee, kombucha) or a nice snack. Free, but please consider a $10 donation of you're willing. It helps keep the space afloat! Thanks!!
The irony is that it crossed from a yard that has a sign stating there’s mountain lion sightings nearby.
It's sitting on the path in Elmer's Twomile park
I was hit by an suv while walking and have some pretty severe injuries. I’m not from the area and was wondering if anyone knows a good accident lawyer?
Looking for snow tires, I believe they changed hands a few years ago.
Just looking for a good haircut that doesn't break the bank. I typically go to Rollins and they are great. But the price is crazy. Where can I get a great cut for around $45?
Don’t crucify me, but does anyone know of any E-MTB friendly trails in the Boulder / Lyons area?
And how serious do Boulder riders take e-bike rules for dudes who just have it on slight assist, and aren’t passing anyone. I travel around, and some places are chill with it.. others not so much
My niece is 14 going on 15 and loves long sleeve t-shirts (vintage or otherwise). She loves Boulder as well, and I am looking for ideas of long sleeve t-shirts from classic Boulder businesses or just Boulder in general. Does anybody have any good ideas?
I have memories visiting a family friend who lived in Ward, CO when I was a kid back in 2005 (my one and only time in Colorado)
I remember ramshackle houses, hippies, and general weirdness. I think I remember a house that had several kitchen knives sticking out of the front door
I know almost nothing about Colorado or Ward as that was my only time in the state. Does anyone know anything about this place? Thanks
Is it free and does one show up and grab a table? I've never been but I wanted to make sure before going
Moe's gets alot of hate here for their overpriced stuff (and rightly so). However they just lowered their prices by $5 for most stuff it seems. Just thought I should relay that.
If you’re the dude that shattered a carbon fiber S Works mounted on top of your Audi driving into the covered garage at Pearl St Whole Foods. I felt your pain.
They kinda look like grapes/cherries?
In south boulder, my dog ate one!
I am looking for any recs on stores with a large selection of coffee beans. Recently had to transition to decaf and need to find a new go to.
So I have driven between Boulder and Lyons for 10 years.
There is a building, that is in the same area/location as the Mcguckins warehouse (or used to be): https://imgur.com/a/ZBwmvV3
What are those buildings? Because I have seen some strange shit over the last 10 years.
About 2 weeks ago, ~6:30 pm, it looked like ~100 drones were being flown into their garage area. But they didn't look like any drones I had seen before (eg drone show, consumer drone, camera drone, etc). No Drone noise heard from Neva road.
About 3 months ago there was a a triangle of lights going up and down the hillside behind that building, like drones were scanning the ground. It was around ~11pm, and again, no drone noise.
Is there some tech or drone company there that isn't listed on google maps?
They have an underground access area, and has government looking vehicles there every few months. One time there was a giant suburban with a satellite dish on top.
Any ideas?
