I’ve been searching for years for this series. It was made in the UK but aired in the US on NatGeo. I can’t quite frame where I can rewatch it, but it felt like no other show I had watched before.
For a party at my work, I was thinking about creating my own custom Match Game game, where there would be two contestants, six panelists, me as the host, and the questions, Super Match, and the head-to-head match at the end would all be shown on a big screen. The panelists would all have a small white board and dry erase marker to write their answers on. It would run just like the TV show, and I want it to be fun for everybody involved. The questions would be related to my work.
I was thinking possibly a Powerpoint/Google Slides/etc. slideshow might be a good tool to use if one doesn't already exist out there somewhere. I could even try to have it automatically play the "think" music after a question is read.
Is there a site or an app or something that would help me create this? Or if I go the slideshow route, any tips you can think of to help make it work?
Thanks in advance for any ideas!
Was watching the Floor when they were debating the topic “space.” All of a sudden a picture of Megamind appeared and I can’t think of how that relates to space.
My only guess is they were trying to show an alien? Thoughts?
So I'm writing a screenplay for a horror/thriller movie and I decided I wanted this one to be centred around a game show. I was having trouble coming up with some of my own so I was wondering if any of you guys have any ideas for a game show that you would like to see?
*I'm not a professional screenwriter so there is no guarantee the movie gets made, but I am possibly looking to self finance/produce it so if it does get made, I will be sure to give whoever idea it is credit and work with you to develop the idea for the screenplay*
Since Hollywood Squares is one of my favorite game shows and since there is no Subreddit dedicated to it I created one. You can post the episode link you watch from any of the 3 eras (Peter Marshall, John Davidson and Tom Bergeron) along with the celebrity players in that certain episode.
what game show from the 90s in the USA were contestants dragged or fell back through a crumbling wall when they got kicked off the show? ( I can picture it in my head, but that's the best I can describe it)
Which shows, in your opinion, have had a specific rule or set of rules that were too harsh? I’ll start:
Jeopardy: Spelling and pronunciation are key. Also, phrasing is important. They let you off with a warning in the first round, but in subsequent rounds, it is counted again you.
Pyramid: The Winner’s Circle. No pantomiming, only a list that fits the subject, no prepositions, no rhyming. The current version is lax in terms of this, but previous versions (particularly both 80s versions and Donnymid) were tough.
Sale of the Century: The Winner’s Big Money Game. A mediocre bonus round is made worse by “you must stop the clock before it hits double 0”. Someone can be one puzzle away from the win, then buzz in a fraction of a second before 00, and it still counts as a loss.
I remember it was a trivia show LIKW Jeopardy that came out around 2010-2015 time. It was contestants that were highly educated and very smart, and they would have to pick a category and answer a question in a certain amount of time, and jd they didn’t they could get replaced by someone waiting to take their place. They might also accidentally choose a topic where they had to list the answers back and forth with their replacee. I think you got three chances to make a mistake before getting replaced. Please god someone remember the name. it’s driving me crazy!
Edit: It’s not The Chase!
i just find it so funny and/or strange that after all these years Family Feud still awards only $20,000 to the winners. for how long now - 20 years? 30 years?
I’ve been watching Game Show Network since I was about eight. It’s had some good stuff, but some other stuff has been horrible. What do you folks think for some of the worst ones? I utterly despise the money list. What was the point of that thing? Sounded like an hour of people arguing.
I would say Family Feud may occupy the 4th slot. It has been fairly consistently on the air since the Richard Dawson days. But it has gone through numerous hosts, a few tweaks to the format, and many timeslot changes which makes it harder to "track" over the years.
Any other shows you would add to that "top tier" category?
I absolutely loved everything about this show, from Rob Lowe to the trivia! And everything about how it was done. Has anyone heard anything about a season 2?
There was a gameshow in the mid 2000's that I can't find. Two teams had to try and build/replicate an animal ability to see who could do it better.
The one I remember was the archerfish. They had to make a rig that could shoot a jet of water (from underwater) and knock off a target in the air. I think they did Big Horn Sheep and a few other animals that I can't remember off the top of my head.
Anyone remember this?
in LMAD recaps what does M.O. stand for in reference to the big deal? (see link for example)
BD (Amanda):
SD (#3): $1001
MD (#2): APT 2B break rm + 40″ HDTV ($6,235)- M.O. HERE
BD (#1): ’15 Lexus IS 250 ($37,475) + $3526
I'm trying to remember a game show that had a segment where a contestant would enter an area that was bluescreened, and they had to move around objects with the help of their teammates because they couldnt see them. Anyone have any ideas? Definitely the 90's.
Match Game 73 started out with Gene Rayburn wearing a lavalier microphone. Watching early episodes of Match Game, Gene seems pretty uncertain about what to do with his hands. He becomes evidently more comfortable for the super match rounds, during which he uses a handheld microphone to talk with the contestants. But when the turntable spins back around, he's once again flailing his arms around like he just got them.
Once the handheld microphone becomes a permanent part of the show, Gene mentions that it was because the sound quality is much better. While this is true, I can't help but picture Mark and Ira sitting to the side remarking on his awkward hand gestures.
Gene was now more relaxed with a prop in his hand and it actually made for quite a few good jokes throughout the show's run; such as the giant microphone bit. It was also a topic of discussion several times as they were always having problems with it. He was also shocked the first time he came out and it was really long - he didn't know it could telescope.
But in my honest opinion, I don't believe the show would have been as successful as it was had they stayed with the lapel microphone.
New season starting July 18th! Can’t wait for this season! This and TPIR are my absolute favorites!
EDIT: I originally posted asking for those who had participated between the years 1980 to 1999 but have adjusted as I now realize that the project would work best with any demographic.
Hello, everyone,
I hope you all are well.
This post may seem odd, but, getting to the point, I am putting together a study where I would need to speak with those who have previously won on gameshows that aired between the years 1980 and 1999. Cars, living room sets, cash, any winners but only those who have won and not just participants. The years could even be earlier than 1980 and maybe a fews years later than 1999, I just want to be certain that I’m not asking for a demographic that may have already passed or a demographic that is too young. So, these dates have been chosen to put together a general idea of who I am looking for.
I would like to go in to more detail about the work but the project is personal and I am creatively protective over it in such early stages.
My searches have led me here and to every other gameshow related forum. I have tried IMDb, searching for databases that may have contestants saved (does not really exist), even rewatching episodes and identifying names then searching Google (this did feel wrong but this brought zero progress to my efforts). Some forums are more difficult to post on as the account creation on these sites needs approval from moderators and that seems to be taking a while.
Hopefully I can find some results here on Reddit. If you know anyone or someone who knows someone, please reach out to me and we can discuss everything in greater detail.
Thank you so much for understanding. I hope to hear something back but understand that this ask is specific and may yield nothing.
