So in one of the cash builders of the episodes I'm watching, one of the questions was "What Roald dahl title character has 3 syllables in their name?" And I guessed Matilda, but the correct answer was BFG (the contestant said that). But Matilda is the same, right? Or am I going mad? What would've happened if Matilda was said, would that also be correct? Sorry if this is a bit too trivial for this sub or whatever.

Also, isn't it The BFG, so it's 4 syllables??

i was excited to download it as i love the chase and would help with general knowledge but honestly the app is so bitty, there's a million things to look at. i wish it was a bit more minimal.

I'd love to but I feel I'm at a disadvantage not being from England (indeed, not being from London)

My weak spots:

• English history

• English royal family

• London details - tube stations etc

• English football - I don't even follow ours 🤣

On the other hand, questions on Scotland I got, I live here 🤣, I used to live in USA, on STEM I am better than Mark

Okay, I’m just gonna put it out there does anybody else in this group? Think that Bradley Walsh is cute? There’s a certain charm about him even though he acts innocent. I know that he’s one of the lads anyway but he’s a total cutie. I watched the show that he does with his son. It’s just such a great watch. I don’t know if any of you guys have seen it but it’s hilarious. He gets into some really funny situations. Feel free to call me a freak 😂 this is all said in good fun, not looking for any drama 🎭

In both name and substance. I was just wondering if there’s any actual “beef” between Bradley/the Chase and Pointless? I’ve noticed in quite a few episodes now Bradley making little digs and side comments targeted at Pointless that border on vitriolic (at least 3 times this past fortnight in repeats) but not sure if it’s just in the name of competitive TV channel rivalry banter or something maybe more intense.

To an extent, it feels as though the order of when you do your cashbuilder/head to head with the chaser can work for or against you.

For example, if you’re first on, you’re more likely to get a smaller high offer and you can’t really gauge what your team is like.

However, fourth player on seems to have its bigger advantages. By this point, there’s either already some cash in the point for you to work with, or if all prior contestants are eliminated, you’re more likely to get a bigger high offer and will most likely go for it as you’ll have nothing to lose.

So is the order of contestants completely random, or is it personally decided by the team?

...does anyone else hear this in the tune of David Bowie's "Changes", or is it just me?

1. "Sorry, that's before my time" - it's such a weak excuse.

2. Gala Bingo - If I suddenly get a hankering for the bingo, I'd seek out my nearest Mecca. Out of spite.

3. "Middle for diddle" - eugh.

4. Getting a pushback opportunity in the final chase and giving the same (wrong) answer that the chaser has just given - although it is sometimes darkly amusing.

5. Going through the whole process of getting onto the show (which sounds quite lengthy) only to take the low offer*.

Caveat: It's still obviously one of my favourite shows, Bradley and all 6 chasers are fantastic (I'm hopefully going to a quiz hosted by Sean Wallace in February 🤞)...I applaud the guts it takes to be a contestant on the show. I love quizzing and I couldn't do it!

*Except in the few cases where it makes sense...eg £2000 cash builder/£1000 low offer or there's a lot in the pot and player 4 can increase their odds of getting back.

So I haven't watched The Chase loads but it occurred to me that all the first round really does is prompt what type of offer the chaser makes.

Therefore, if you are very good at quizzes, it would be in your interest to fake being terrible in the first round of questions.

The Chaser would then make a seemingly ridiculous higher offer to prompt the apparent idiot to take it.

You could then take the higher offer and switch it on.

Has this ever happened?

What’s the sudden reason why constants are going for the lower offer in this new series? 1 right now has gone for £200. It’s really not on for me especially when it’s a minus offer. What do others think?

What happens when a person gets nothing correct in the Cash Builder or takes a lower offer of nothing, gets through with nothing, the other three players get caught, and they (somehow) beat the Chaser? Do they just go home?
