looking for new thanksgiving episodes of different shows me and my family love for tomorrow!! i know i'll at least be watching the masked singer... its gonna be peanuts themed tomorrow which my grandma loves, i'm so excited!! any other recommendations?
Folks! Thank you for contributing to this sub and your support for reality TV. However, I'm still uncertain about this sub's future and activity... or lack of it.
To be certain, I'm proposing that, as a trial, the whole sub be off-limits for the whole Christmas vacation (December 24â26) of this year.
If I find the Christmas vacation trial successful, then I may start another New Year's Week trial (December 29âJanuary 4)
Throughout each trial, NO new comments and posts will be allowed except replies to this post and announcements of starting or ending a trial. Think r/shittyrealitytv and r/ESPNNewYorkRadio, both of which are "off-limits", but each trial is limited at best.
Also, during each trial span, you can seek other subs related to reality TV, like r/television, r/CBS, r/survivor.
The sub will be reopened when each trial ends.
If two, and I mean two, trials are successful, then I may wanna do a one-month trial, like in February or March.
ATN is one of my fav shows and I rlly wanna watch the full episodes. But here in the Philippines, it's almost impossible to watch them without using a premium VPN. Can anyone give me any recommendations?
Hi all,
I'm trying to find a gif, video, or really any proof of existence that this tv show moment happened.
I'm picturing a frat bro looking dude on a tv show like Big Brother or something and he has to answer a trivia question. Don't remember the question but the answer is Sleeping Beauty and he gets it right. Then when he's speaking to the camera he says something along the lines of "technically, her name is Aurora but I didn't want to get too specific" or something like that?
Does this ring any bells for anyone? Please???
After the (unsuccessful) November trial of sticky threads of recommended shows, I have decided to end this month's trial right away.
Happy Thanksgiving Day!
Did anyone watch Dark Side of Reality TV the Kid Nation episode? I did a very quick IMDB search and this woman is part of SO many shows with kids. I don't know if anyone picked up on what I was picking up on during that episode it seems like she was completely okay with those kids being in that environment. Her resume is worrisome. Does anyone else get a bad vibe or am I tripping? Share your perspectives if you're feeling the opposite (or the same).
Hey there, Gay Guy from Germany here. One of my friends from the US just came to visit me for a week and we watched some TV together on a hungover Sunday morning. He was pretty shocked by what he saw so I felt the need to explain it to a bit more:
If youâve ever flipped through German TV channels, you might be asking: âWhy is everything reality TV?â Gone are the days when Germany was known for world-class dramas like Derrick or innovative comedies like Stromberg. Today, itâs wall-to-wall dating shows, celebrity nonsense, and people yelling at each other in trashy scripted ârealityâ programs. Let me explain.
The Dominance of Trash TV Shows like Love Island, Temptation Island, Promi Big Brother (Celebrity Big Brother), and Are You The One? dominate prime-time slots. Thereâs also Das Sommerhaus der Stars (The Summer House of the Stars), where D-list celebrity couples essentially have breakdowns for our amusement. Itâs cheap to produce, and apparently, people canât get enough of it.
Meanwhile, German scripted shows have largely disappeared. Channels rarely invest in original series anymore, as even the highest-quality productions struggle to compete with international streaming platforms like Netflix or Disney+. Why risk millions on a drama when a budget dating show brings in just as many viewers?
Streaming Platforms Widen the Gap Internationally, Germany is still producing some gems like Dark and 1899, but hereâs the kicker: most Germans didnât watch them. These series are for export. At home, the audience is glued to Bauer sucht Frau (Farmer Wants a Wife), where lonely farmers search for love, or Deutschland sucht den Superstar (Germanyâs Got Talent), which has been running for 20 years despite no one being able to name a single winner.
Why Trash Works There are a few reasons why trashy reality TV thrives in Germany: 1. Cost Efficiency: Reality TV is dirt cheap to produce compared to scripted shows. No need for great writers, just a mansion and some drama. 2. Escapism: With rising costs of living, climate anxiety, and economic uncertainty, viewers want mindless entertainment. Watching people embarrass themselves is oddly comforting. 3. Cultural Preference: Germans love schadenfreudeâfinding joy in othersâ misfortunes. Reality TV delivers that in spades.
The Future of German Entertainment The sad reality is that Germanyâs entertainment industry is increasingly risk-averse. Public broadcasters like ARD and ZDF still offer some solid documentaries and dramas, but commercial networks are doubling down on what works: cheap laughs, public humiliation, and over-the-top drama.
So, to my international friends: if you want to understand why German TV feels like an endless loop of reality shows, itâs not because we lack talent or creativity. Itâs because, as a nation, weâre stuck in an entertainment comfort zone.
What do you think? Is trash TV taking over globally, or is Germany uniquely hooked on this formula?
Is anyone watching The Masked Singer tonight? I am totally obsessed with the show and I actually cannot wait for tonight's episode because it's Miley Cyrus themed and I absolutely LOVE Miley Cyrus!! Is anyone else really into the show? Or just watching tonight for Miley?
Hey, I need a little help. If anyone knows where I can watch reality tv shows like "Joseline's Cabaret" on my computer it would be so helpful. I have a few apps but as you may know, most of them don't really work on the computer. They can't seem to be downloaded for some reason. But if anyone know pls don't hesitate to let me know!! Thank you!!!
I'm really really new to the media. I've just watched - totally hooked - both seasons of "The traitors" US, and would love to get recommendations of realities like that. I don't think I would be into dating games, or stuff like... Jersey Shore or stuff like that.
Something that involves strategy, betrayal, with good doses of drama and fights. Better if it relates to other interests of mine (LGBT, Geek stuff) but not necessary.
Other shows I enjoyed: Rupaul's Drag Race, King of the Nerds
In numerous seasons and other versions of the show. There are always the female contestants acting gross. These range from burping, farting, picking their nose, not washing their hands, and picking their nose and eating it. Are these stuff they all do before they are on the show or is it done from a script ? It is really odd that it has happened in numerous past seasons and in other versions of the show (UK and Canada ). What are the odds that every female contestant has done it ?
There was what looked to be a âreunionâ of some sort of reality tv people and one of the guys misused the phrase #me too and all of his cast mates were like âhe doesnât know what that meansâ. I just saw this the other day and cannot find it.
This one is just for fun. Put these guys in order, 1-favorite 7- least.
Joel McHale Jesse Palmer Ken Jeong Daniel Tosh Nick Cannon Carson Daily Alfonso Rivera Terry Crews
Gonna let the first 3 roll by, before mine. Have fun!
