Hello all,
I am trying to determine the baggage allowance if I purchase flight on JAL
My flight is
Phoenix - San Francisco - Tokyo - Saigon
I wonder if the flight says JL7541 operated by AA, do I get 2 free checked bags (per JAL policy) or 1 free checked bag (per AA policy)?
I have dual French/US citizenship. I booked a ticket from SFO to CAN (Guangzhou) using my French passport earlier this year because my American passport (which contains a valid Chinese Visa) was expired at the time. My new American passport arrived since then and I can enter China with both my new and old American passport according to the Chinese consulate (since the Visa in the old passport is still valid). However, China Southern has this bizarre policy that it can only update 2 of the 3 fields of nationality, passport number and expiration date. They are saying I have to cancel this ticket and buy a new one, which will set me back thousands of dollars and create a logistic nightmare for my family trip since those flights are now sold out.
Has anyone encountered such an absurd policy? Should I just go to the Chinese consulate to get another Visa in my French passport?
Hello everyone, I am scheduled to fly from Miami to Doha in late november, and I always wanted to go and see the cockpit, meet the pilots and take a picture in cockpit but I never tried to ask because of my social anxiety even after travelling for so many times with qatar. So should I do this when I travel with them this month? Any qatar airways FA or pilot here, if they can suggest me?
Hello guys will be flying for the first time, and this will be an international one. My flight path is KTM > IST > IAH > STL. Turkish airlines from KTM to IAH and then it will be United Airlines. So, my question is since I'll be transferring to domestic (in single ticket), do I need to pay extra for my 2x23 kg check in bags and a hand carry that's typically allowed in international flights to US (I think)?
Please tell me if u need any other info and sorry if it's a dumb question. I seriously tried reading through baggage policy of both Turkish and united but it's confusing af and there doesn't seem to be anything regarding baggage policy for international to domestic connecting flights in united's website. Turkish's site just says to go look at the other airline's baggage policy. So yeah... some insight will be appreciated and since it's my first flight any other advice is welcomed too.
PS: Haven't booked the ticket yet, but seems to be the cheapest option for me so far so kinda looking into it...
PS2: Some flight details the automod says it required:
FLIGHT NUMBERS and airlines:
KTM-IST: Turkish Airlines - TK727 IST-IAT: Turkish Airlines - TK133 IAT-STL:United Airlines - UA1662
Booking portal: Turkish airlines website (found it on Kayak tho)
Departure date: Jan 6 2025
Thank you!!
I would love to know which airlines have unique collectibles, such as the Lufthansa ducks, KLM houses, Delta trading cards, Virgin Atlantic salt and pepper shakers, etc.
Hello everyone!
I’m an Indian citizen with an upcoming trip from the Philippines to India, with a layover in Hong Kong. Here’s my itinerary:
• First flight: Philippines to Hong Kong on Cebu Pacific • Layover: 2 hours and 20 minutes in Hong Kong • Second flight: Hong Kong to India on Indigo Airlines • Both flights are in the same terminal.
Here are the details and questions:
• Arrival in Hong Kong: 11:50 AM • Check-in/Bag Drop for Indigo flight closes: 1:10 PM
This gives me 1 hour and 20 minutes to go through immigration, pick up my baggage, check in with Indigo, and pass security.
Questions:
Thank you all for any guidance!
I recently had a flight with Air Canada leaving out of Toronto Pearson and somehow the gate for our flight changed 7 different times, and several of the gates changes happened within minutes if not seconds of each other. We jokingly guessed that the gate controller must have been having a seizure or something because it was crazy how many times the intercom would come on notifying us of a new gate. When the airline tried to describe what was happening, they made it sound like they had the exact plane we needed but somehow they could not figure out a gate to get the plane to, even though it was at night and there were a ton of empty gates, presumably almost all of them owned by Air Canada. I guess I just don't understand how the gate system works or why it seems so needlessly complicated.
Hello all, I know this gets asks often, as I searched this subreddit before resorting to making this post. However I can't seem to find an answer to my specific situation. I booked a flight on Japan Airline's' website for a trip next April (5th-19th). I'm trying to determine who the marketing carrier is for baggage purposes since JAL and AA have quite a difference in checked baggage rules. When I look at the confirmation I received from JAL (pictured), it seems to have a JL flight number as my first flight which would indicate I'd follow JAL baggage rules:
Email I received from JAL after booking, it says to bring this when I check in at GSO
However when I log into AA, it shows an AA flight number, which would mean I need to follow AA baggage rules:
The first leg of the flight, from GSO to DFW
I guess I'm just having trouble determining what baggage rules to follow. I don't know if it makes a difference that I booked the flight directly with JAL. Sorry if this is a simple question, I just haven't flown in years and I've never flown international before. I know this is still several months out, but the baggage allowances and specifications are quite different and I like to plan early. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
I forgot to add “III” on my partners last name but I’ve included his middle name. Will it be a problem?
Hi guys,
Probably a silly question but I’m travelling to New Zealand in a few weeks and bought my travel insurance a while back - however i have a 10 hour layover in Beijing en route and my cover only states I’m visiting NZ.
Do I need to add China onto my travel insurance policy? I won’t be leaving the airport so I’m technically not entering the country, but do I need to add it anyway?
I have Orbitz flight credit expiring on November 29, 2024, which I can only use with Air France. Due to medical issues, I haven't been able to use the credits, and I've already submitted a medical certificate. When I requested an extension or a refund, Orbitz was unable to assist me.
Can I book a flight for dates before November 29, 2024, and then reschedule that ticket for next year?
HYD to SLC
I booked a flight from CLT to TQO about a month for a week long trip in April. It was a non-stop flight and would have my landing TQO in the afternoon and landing back in Charlotte at 6pm.
Now I get an email saying “your trip has changed” and now I am no longer direct. On the day I’m supposed to arrive in TQO I arrive late and night and when I return in CLT I land at 12:40am the next day! I now have a four hour layover is DFW.
I did book travel insurance.
Do I have any recourse? This is such a downgrade
Edit: I called AA and tried to get on a different flight that landed me in Charlotte not at midnight. Unfortunately all the flights out of TQO are all after 1pm.
As for what the agent told me that I am super pissed off about..she said the spring schedule hasn’t been released yet and to check back in January if there is another direct flight and see if I can get on that one. WTF BUT I ALREADY BOOKED THE DIRECT ONE. She said that there was no way to be automatically put on the new flight should a new direct flight arise. Absolutely ridiculous. I booked the flight because it was direct and now I have to do extra work
Hi, was wandering if anyone can help, booked flights to Hong kong but forgot to add middle names, rang expedia but the flights can't be cancelled as it had gone past midnight (usa get 24 hours but uk get until midnight to cancel ) on the phone they said they aren't sure what the policy is but told me to fill in a name correction form then wait upto 72 hours problem is i fly in about 10 days and have other flights booked as well so cutting it fine, is the middle name a big problem? Thanks
Hello, I was flying from Manchester to Mumbai on 30th October 2024 with gulf airways on 10:25 am from Manchester with my fiancée. The issue is that I booked a extra luggage of 2 pieces each with total 6 checked in baggage, and when we arrived at Mumbai airport we couldn’t find our 1 bag, and talking with gulf colleagues he said that there were only 5 bags checked. How is that possible?? The guy who gave us boarding passes he himself put the tags on all the 6 bags, and as we were in hurry to board the plane, we didn’t checked how much tags he gave us. After checking there were only 5. Please help me because that luggage has very expensive perfume and some gifts in it. In Mumbai I filled the form but I didn’t got any reference number from them. What should I Do??
Hello, I received an email from Lufthansa today saying my trip had been changed. It looks like that during the return leg, from Bogota to Paris, the layover in Frankfurt will be 5 hours instead of 3 hours because the original FRA->CDG was canceled.
They are offering to change to another flight or “use the ticket later.”
I know it may not seem like a significant change but it does make us arrive in Paris at 11pm instead of 9pm which is inconvenient, but more importantly, I’d like to get a refund and look for a direct flight instead.
I booked directly with Lufthansa, it’s a non refundable economy fare.
Are there any strategies to request a full refund in this case?
Thank you!

I booked a flight from Singapore to Uruguay, transiting through Frankfurt Airport in Germany from Trip.com. It's operated by Singapore Airlines and LATAM Airlines and I assumed that the tickets would be under the same booking reference since it wasn't clearly stated that they would be issued separately (at least I didn't see). However, after making the purchase, the tickets were issued under two different booking references, one for Singapore to Germany and the other for the rest of the trip. They still share the same "booking number" and show up as the same trip on Trip.com.
I am holding a Chinese passport, which is one of the weakest in the world. I will most definitely need a visa if I were to enter Germany formally. I read from the German government website that I do not require a visa of I am only transiting through.
Since my tickets were issued under different booking reference numbers, does that mean I will have to enter the country to check in again for the following flights? Is it legal to check in online while I'm still within the international transit area and just go straight to the gate of my next flight as if I were transitting "normally"? The visa application fee is 80 euros and I'd like to avoid applying for one if possible since I'm not planning on visiting Germany... Has anyone been in a similar situation? Any help is appreciated.
TLDR: Chinese national booked flights from Singapore to Uruguay, transiting through Germany. Tickets were issued with different booking references but under same booking number. Will I need to enter Germany (and apply for a visa) since my tickets are under two bookings?
I've been trying to book the following multi-city on JALs website for next February 2025
Melbourne - Tokyo Tokyo - Sapporo Sapporo - Osaka Tokyo - Melbourne
the Sapporo to Osaka flight seems to muck up the multicity booking, which is confusing as they do Oneway flights to all those destinations.
Has anyone tried something similar on JALs website, it's pretty annoying to use and as I'm aware if we book through JAL for an international flight on their website we'll get one leg of the domestic travel free.
Cheers all
Hello. I am traveling with EgyptAir from Milan to Doha via Cairo. I am allowed 2 pieces of baggage with a maximum of 23kg each, can I instead only take 1 piece that weighs 30kg?
I have sent multiple emails and tried calling their customer support but to no avail.
Hi! So I am currently in Madrid and I am supposed to take a flight back from Valencia tomorrow to go home. Problem is, with the natural disaster the city has just experienced, I have no idea if it is even possible to get to the airport. My train has been cancelled, just like all intercity buses, and given the devastation there I am not even sure it is either safe or possible to get there. The airport however has reopened and flights are leaving, but I am not even sure it is currently possible to access it by road from Valencia, let alone anywhere else. My question therefore is: given the sheer inaccessibility of the airport at the moment, am I entitled to some form of compensation from the airline (wizzair), like a refund or a flight change? Thanks!
Hi all,
So I've flown Korean Air many times in the past. Today I had to call them with a question about an upcoming trip and the agent made a fuss about my middle name. The ticket only has my middle initial, not my full middle name (it's full on my passport). This has literally never been a problem. The overwhelming majority of flights that I've booked over the years have been through Expedia and every last one of those tickets were issued to "Mary J. Blige" not "Mary Jane Blige" (lol for fake names). It has never been an issue and I took an international trip earlier this month.
So my question for the group - Has anyone done this lately and have it not be a problem? The cost to correct the typo is almost as much as the ticket.
Thanks!
Edit: for Mary J. Blige's real middle name (lol)
Hi All, my flight from Paris Orly to Bristol, UK (EZY7354) departing at 7pm on 26/10/24 (last Saturday) was cancelled the same day after I checked in (and had arrived at the airport) and with less than 2 hours notice.
There were no available flights on the same day. The only alternative flight options I were given were non direct flights to Bristol from CDG airport, which required an almost 3 hour transfer (public transport) from Orly to CDG. This new flight was on 27/10/24 at 11:10AM from CDG to Edinburgh, then from Edinburgh to Bristol at 5:20PM, resulting in a 22 hour delayed arrival. I was given overnight accommodation near CDG airport however had to buy my own meals etc. I have already filed reimbursement claim for all expenses incurred.
The reason Easyjet gave for the flight cancellation was 'due to air traffic control restrictions'. In their own words, 'because adverse weather conditions in Palma has meant that Air Traffic Control has had to limit the the number of aircraft that can arrive and depart, which has sadly led to delays and cancellations today. The disruption to your flight is outside of our control and is considered to be an extraordinary circumstance.' My question is, my flight was departing from Paris Orly, France. In this case, would I still be eligible for EU 261 compensation as the 'adverse weather condition' was in another country? Even if this had knock on effects, it should have been Easyjet's responsibility to sort out an available aircraft in France? The interesting thing is, hardly any other flights at Paris Orly were cancelled on the same day, which indicates Easyjet could have sorted this out. I've used a few free flight compensation checker tools and they've mostly all indicated I should be eligible to receive compensation up to £220.
I've submitted the Easyjet flight delay compensation claim form but am already expecting a negative reply, so would appreciate any help in how to make a come back argument should they reject my claim.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi,
im from glasgow, looking to book a flight to vietnam. All flights are 1 stop in dubai with a long layover, 22h total time.
At the same time there is another direct flight from London Hearthrow for 12h.
Was wondering if its better to just spend the day before that flight in london to avoid the 1 stop layover?
Hello, on date 26th of october 2024 I had to fly from Sofia airport ( SOF ) to Dubai airport ( DBX ) with flight number FZ 1758. The flight, initially scheduled to depart at 15:25 local time, was delayed until 20:00, causing considerable disruption, making us land at 2 am in Dubai.
Their answer was:
"Thank you for your email and for making us of your recent experience.
We apologise for the inconvenience you had on your recent travel.
Flydubai flight was delayed due to extraordinary circumstances . Given that the safety of our passengers and crew is our primary concern, on this occasion, we were unable to operate the flight according to its original schedule.
Flydubai took all reasonable steps to mitigate the effect of the disruption to our passengers. Affected passengers were provided as per welfare and flydubai disruptions policy.
Whilst we apologise for the inconvenience caused, we are unable to take your request for compensation forward in respect of this flight. In any event, should you have in place a travel insurance policy, flydubai can provide you with a letter, outlining the nature of the delay, in order to allow you to raise a claim with your insurance company.

Hi everyone,
I'm sharing my recent travel ordeal, which was, unfortunately, a journey of delays, cancellations, and inadequate support.
I began my journey smoothly with the Delhi to Frankfurt leg but faced issues with my connecting flight from Frankfurt to Sao Paulo on 23rd September 2024, as flight LH 506 was delayed by over 10 hours, rescheduled from 22:10 (local time) to 09:00 AM on 24th September. This delay caused me to miss my connection to Montevideo.
Upon arrival in Brazil on the 24th, I was informed that my flight to Montevideo couldn't be rebooked until 26th September due to a lack of available seats, leaving me stranded at the airport for nearly two days. This experience was grueling, especially as a vegetarian struggling to find suitable meals.
On the 26th, after enduring my extended wait, I attempted to board my rebooked flight LA 8118 with LATAM Airlines, only to be informed that Lufthansa had only partially confirmed my ticket. Due to overbooking, I was again left without a seat and no Lufthansa support available at the São Paulo airport. After much distress, I finally managed to secure a seat on LA 8168 departing later on the 26th and reached Montevideo around 12:25 AM on the 27th.
I missed all my academic meetings in Montevideo, scheduled on the 24th, causing me significant professional setbacks. The lack of support from Lufthansa, the confusion over my rebooked flights, and the extended delay left me emotionally drained and physically exhausted.
Has anyone else faced similar issues with Lufthansa's handling of delayed flights and rebooking? Any advice on getting compensation or escalating this further would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for reading.

I am travelling from Delhi to SFO with a layover in Bengaluru with AirIndia. My flight is on 17th November. I have a 1 hour 40 min layover in Bengaluru where I will have to change aircrafts. I’m wondering what immigration and security checks will happen in Delhi and Bengaluru. I’m a little concerned that the duration of the layover may not be enough to complete all steps in Bengaluru - but I’m unclear on what all will be needed. I am an Indian citizen travelling to SFO for work.
I recently booked a trip for two people with Asiana and am having issues retrieving the bookings. I booked through Trip.com and they've now sent everything through, but I can't seem to get things to work on their app/website. I made an account with them. Their app just tells me the booking information is incorrect, but I think the app doesn't accept booking for more than one person? but when I use 'find my trip' on the website, it accepts it, provides me with the info, but as soon as I click on anything else it disappears and I have to put in the info all over again. I obviously need to add my passport details etc, and I actually need to request special meals for both of us, but can't figure out how to do it when none of my info stays on the websire. The trip isn't until next year, but I'm still a little worried as to why it's not working properly, as I would preferably like to sort things as soon as I can.
Anyone has the same issues? Is this normal?
It's my first long haul with a non-UK airline so theres a chance I'm overreacting, but my anxiety is anxietying.
TIA!
Looking at flights and keep getting ‘citizenplane’ options. What is it, just a third party? I’ve searched the flight numbers so know which airline I’ll actually be with but when booking it doesn’t give any info about that. Only ‘Citizenplane XXX’. First time I’ve heard of it . TIA
Hi all, I am flying Brussels-Shanghai and Shanghai-Tokyo on 6-7 November with an eight-hour layover. I booked these flights separately and they are with different airlines: Juneyao and China Eastern respectively (travel plans and dates changed due to circumstances, couldn't help rebooking it this way). My luggage will be carry-on size but probably needs to be checked as it will exceed the weight requirements for the second flight.
My assumption is that I will need to pass through immigration when I land in Shanghai in order to check in at the desk for my second flight, then go through security again to re-enter the terminal. This is not in itself an issue as I can enter the country visa-free for 15 days (Belgian passport). However, I would prefer to just book myself into a lounge and chill over queueing repeatedly just to end up where I started.
Is my assumption correct or would there be a way to stay inside the security zone and use a transfer desk in this instance? I do not speak Chinese, unfortunately.
Thanks for your advice.
My flight with Frontier on 11/15 (ORD > DEN FLIGHT 2209) was cancelled last Tuesday. I was notified by Travel by Mondee which I found through my benefits hub at work and they issued a refund. However, when I look at Frontier's website and Travel, the flight is still there. On the travel website, it shows 4 seats left.
Should I just rebook this same flight? Has anyone come across this before? Or would it just be best to eat the cost and book a flight through another airline? I don't have any experience with Frontier, but from the research I've done they are hit or miss.
