My mother booked Salam Air tickets for my grandparents via Cleartrip from Jaipur to Doha via Muscat for 4th December 2024. There is a 2.5 hours Layover there with changing of flights. My mother accidentally missed on the fact that this is self transfer where you need to collect checked in luggage and re check-in them along with going through security again. However, the PNR for the booking is not different, but rather same.
Both my grandparents are almost 80 now and cannot walk a lot. During booking, there was no option for wheelchair assistance so my mom thought it would be available later. I've been trying to reach out to Salam Air on all their phone numbers - Oman, and offices in India - Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Hyderabad. But none of the phones are getting picked up. On the Salam Air website, it's written that wheelchair assistance can be availed if there is a disability certificate/ID, but my grandparents don't have it.
Now how can I avail wheelchair assistance for them throughout the journey? Trip cancellation may not be possible for us since the tickets booked are non-refundible. Can someone please help me out? I would really appreciate it if someone could help.
Hi, I'm flying CX from SG -> HK on 13 Nov HK -> SF on 17 Nov
I am still waiting for my US visa which is taking a while longer than expected so I will have to change my flight from SG to HK to the 14th. I reached out to customer support and they said that if I wanted to change my flight I would have to pay the flight difference (120 USD) + flight change fee (200 USD). At this point, buying a completely new ticket is cheaper. However, the support told me that even if i buy a completely new ticket with CX, I will not be able to board my HK -> SF flight.
Their agreement said this: "Tickets are only valid for travel in the exact sequence shown in the ticket. If you fail to travel on a booked sector of your journey and you do not notify us in advance, all onward and connecting travel, including the outbound tickets, will be cancelled. However, if you do advise us in advance, we will not cancel your subsequent sector reservations (subject to payment of any fare difference, applicable taxes, and applicable change fees)."
I did tell them in advance and they basically said no... any tips ie. fight back or just suck it up and pay the difference?
I want to share my experience about a flight cancellation in Europe, how we got rebooked and finally a successful EU261 claim.
We had a flight from Lisbon to Athens via Munich on Lufthansa airlines. Three days before the departure, we got an email that due to a strike by the Lufthansa ground staff, our Lisbon to Munich leg is now canceled. A lot of Lufthansa flights were expected to be canceled and we had a longer international flight from Athens just one day after. We were worried whether Lufthansa would even be able to find us another flight on time. Our initial flight duration was from 6 AM to around 2 PM arrival.
We looked for alternatives on the Lufthansa app and could not find any. We found a reasonably priced easy jet flight that would get us there on the same day around the same time. There was six of us so the total cost was significant. We booked it to minimize the risk to the rest of our trip.
But then the next day Lufthansa got us on a direct flight via Aegean airlines for the same day arriving at 5:30 PM. This was great because it was a direct flight and on maybe a more reliable carrier than EasyJet. So I called easyjet to cancel our tickets and surprisingly it only cost us about $50 total.
Our second flight was in fact delayed and we reached after 6 PM. We had planned half a day in Athens, but now there was no time. I looked up the rules for EU 261 and given that the cancellation was within seven days we were eligible for $400 per person.
I am based in the US and was worried how I would deal with the airlines being outside of Europe. Lufthansa has a form on their website where you can submit a claim. I gathered all of our documents, tickets and boarding passes, and wrote a cover letter explaining the situation and claiming the compensation.
There was no reply for over two months. I was finally ready to give in and seek the help of one of the services specializing in this compensation. But right then Lufthansa contacted me back via email. We were a family of 6 residing in three different locations. They asked me for a power of attorney from everyone else whose surname did not match mine. I submitted it right away. And again, no response for more than a month. During this time, I kept replying to the email asking for an update.
Finally almost 4 months after I submitted the original claim, I got an email saying they approved it. They asked for bank details. But then again, no response.
I contacted them via chat and they said they can only escalate to a manager if there is no activity for more than three months. So I waited. They emailed again asking for bank details again, and power of attorney again. I submitted it right away, and wait again. Eventually, someone got back to me and said that the bank information was incorrect. I remember triple checking everything. But this time I sent the wire transfer details for a different bank in the US. They said they will process it in two weeks. I got a confirmation from them that they have successfully initiated the transfer. It took about a week for me to receive it.
Flight: mar 7 Claim submitted: mar 10 First response: may 21 Asked for power of attorney again: jun 30 Approved: Jul 29 Asked for details again: sep 26 Promise to transfer in 2 weeks: Oct 15 Failed: Oct 26 Successful: Oct 28 Received in my bank: Nov 5
Hi guys. I recently booked travel with Expedia for me and a few of my friends with Delta Airlines from BNA-LAX from Dec 6th-8th. Unfortunately, two of the friends are unable to go due to a family member's illness. I don't want to put any stress on them with this. I wanted to try and see if I could just have two other people take the tickets, but I read that the airline doesn't transfer names and tickets are non-refundable. What should I do? Is there anything I can do?
I booked a flight with Transavia using their MAX fare for a flight leaving Istanbul to Orly on November 11th. I want to change it to a flight on November 10th at 20:45 but when I try to change my flight it says "no available flights" for every single date I checked between now and December, so obviously there's a glitch.
The November 10th flight is still showing seats so this shouldn't be an issue. On whatsapp their customer service said the flight shows not available and to contact their phone line. On the phone line the person told me that their system is showing that every flight between now and December is completely sold out (obviously a lie) and hung up when I asked to speak to a supervisor.
Anyone had a similar experience before or have any tips?
I bought one seat on a basic economy flight on TAP Portugal from ORD-LIS-CPH that was on sale for super cheap earlier this year. The flight is in late November.
Because of the low price, you have to pay extra to choose your seats in advance. I was wondering, for those who’ve flown TAP before, if I don’t choose a seat, will I just be assigned one? Is it worth choosing and paying upwards of $100 each way or should I take the risk and see where I end up?
Hello, your help would be greatly appreciated
I was recently on a flight that got cancelled due to bad weather (WMI-DUB on 24/11/24) - that night after the cancellation was announced we were told that we would have a new flight at 14:45 the following day - we got an email with our new flight details, confirming this.
The next day comes and we get a text from Ryanair stating 'your flight has been further delayed. The aircraft operating your flight is currently in Stansted and has been delayed in a minor technical issue... your new departure time is 19:10 local'
Actual departure time ended up being 21:03 and arrival was 22:37 Dublin time (almost 6h after the scheduled arrival).
I was sure that because it was a technical error that we would be due compensation (not from the cancellation, but for the delay due to the technical error), but the compensation form on the ryanair website would not work and after a weeklong wait for a response from the help team i was told 'Please be advised that rescue flight flights are organized in addition to the official timetable and therefore are not subject to the provisions of Directive EU261/2004. On the note of such, no compensation is due for your rescue flight.'
I could not find anything regarding rescue flights on the EU website, so i'm wondering if any of you guys had a similar situation or have any info
Thanks in advance
Hi, which part of the plane feels less like a rollercoaster? Is it the front? Just need to ask because it was my first time sitting at the back of a plane and it felt like i was gonna faint.
Hi all,
Would appreciate your help in claiming comp for the flight I took.
|| || |BA274 | |British Airways Vegas to Heathrow - 27th of Oct 21:55, landing the next day at around 2pm UK time.|
We had taken off with one hour delay. 2 hours into the flight, the pilot announces that they have to return to the original departure airport due to unspecified reasons. Turns out a drunk man was being disruptive.
Once we land and the man is arrested, they cancel the flight, without any accomodation, siting that they cant fly more than 14 hours with the crew and do not have hotels to book at this point.
I had to be back in London as I have a son to take care of, so I booked an alternative flight directly throught their website immediatelly. That flight was confirmed and i was able to check in.
In the same process, BA put me on another flight, which arrives later, I did not accept the proposed new flight as I already booked a new one.
Note that the initial booking was done via my company's booking agent (Navan) and they initiated the refund request of the original flight.
Instead of landing at 2pm on the 28th, I landed at 730am on the 29th.
I have to claim both the flight cost and delay compensation.
What are your thoughts on this and what should I look out for?
I have an Italian passport, and that would be enough to fly to China without a Visa, but my girlfriend still doesn't have a passport. She will be able to get one with urgency after we book the flight, but China Eastern Airlines requires me to input one for her.
I saw many posts online that mention the fact that it's always possible to change passport at check-in so I was going to put old or wrong information, but when booking the flight I get prompted with this:
Should I be worried or should I go for it? Do you have any recent experience?
The flight is Rome - Shanghai from 10th of January to 22nd of January
I’m a first time flyer. I am traveling back to Washington DC. I’m so nervous and upset and scared I could be stranded in Colombia for a few days.
I have a flight that leaves SMR (Santa Marta Colombia) in two days. It says it departs at 8:42 pm. I know that boarding for it starts usually around 6-7 pm.
It has me landing in Bogota at 10:10. My connecting flight departs at 11:25 pm to Washington DC. It estimates me arrive in DC at 4:50 am.
It’s all through Avianca. I have their classic fare. I will not have a checked bag just my carry on and personal bag.
My question is what happens if I miss my connecting flight because it is a tight window. I didn’t realize this when booking.
I’m not sure if I have to go through immigration at Santa Marta or bogota. I know that could take time and worry about missing my flight.
I have some money but not a lot and payday between my flights looks like 3 days. 😨😭
Any advice or help before I leave in a couple days.
So I am a US citizen and I am trying to get to Kathmandu. I was looking at flights and obviously there is no direct flight there and most of the ones had layovers and the cheaper ones have crazy long layovers. So I found an alternative but I am not sure how feasible it is or if it is even a good idea.
I saw that there is a direct flight from us to New Delhi for a good price and just with a couple hours wait I can fly directly from New Delhi to Kathmandu and that is if I just get those flights separately and no connection and with this option I pay about $400 less then getting a whole ticket for Kathmandu with a super long like 18 hrs layover.
I know since I am a us citizen, I have to apply for and pay for a Nepal tourist visa which I could just do online and get a stamp. But since I am taking separate flights first to New Delhi, will I also need an Indian visa?? I wouldn’t be leaving the airport at all the day when I am flying to Kathmandu, just landing their getting my baggage and then checking in to get in the flight for Kathmandu. Will there be any problems I need to be aware of if I choose this route?? And same thing for flying back to US, I will have to first fly from Kathmandu to New Delhi but again won’t leave the airport so would I need an Indian tourist visa then? And what are other things I need to be aware of?? Would this be a good idea and is it worth it for saving a couple hundred $$$?
Hi, I’ve booked some tickets to Japan from china eastern and made a little spelling mistake in my first name. I just forget one letter, I’ve been trying to contact them but they not replying and the departure is in 13 days which stresses me out because I saw some people having trouble with chineses companies. I’m leaving from London.
Hi! I refunded a ticket from Eva Air that is going to Asia. I refunded the tickets 2 hours after booking it. The flight was scheduled a month from now. Will I receive the full amount of money back or will there be a penalty on it? I’m from Canada
I booked flights through United, but operated by ANA, from SFO to NRT, and HND to SFO for my upcoming trip to Japan. We want to visit Kyoto and Osaka as well, so we'll be taking a train from Tokyo to Kyoto. We don't want to come back to Tokyo so we booked another ANA flight from KIX to HND that will arrive 4 hours before my flight back to SFO leaves. Is there a way for me to link the reservations, like I can with Alaska and American so that I won't need to go to baggage claim after landing at HND and check in again? I'd much rather have it be like a normal layover and spend my time at the lounge rather than exiting and re-entering. Thanks in advance!
Hey all, I'm travelling through to Heathrow just after Christmas and have a query regarding the stops in China. My flights are;
-Melbourne-Haikou (arrive 23 December @ 3:30am) -Haikou (depart 23 December @ 8:00am)- stop in Changsha - Heathrow
My question is about the transfer at Haikou and how it works with immigration, security and baggage noting that there is a stop in Changsha on the flugit through to Heathrow.
If anyone has experienced this flight it would be appreciated whether a 24 hour transit visa on arrival sufficed for this journey.
Any assurance would be helpful 😊
My relative is a PRC citizen planning to fly from another country to Taiwan for tourism, and then to PRC, and then exit to another country. Will the PRC allow the entrance? Heard that they will not.
So I'm travelling from Athens to Vienna through RyanAir and then have about an hour and a half to self transfer for my flight from Vienna to Munich via Austrian Airlines. Could someone explain the normal procedure for the Vienna airport, will I have time to catch the second flight? I am only travelling with a personal item so I won't need to wait for my luggage but would I have to go through luggage check again? Edit for clarity: I have a passport that allows travel in the Schengen area for 90 days visa free, live in Germany. The trip is in early January
Its there a possibility to gather all the records of your in and out of the country uk ?an if yes how and where can i get this? Unfortunately i deleted all my online boarding passes. Thank you for who can help me.
I booked tickets on behalf of 3 people for a flight from Schipol to Luton tomorrow. However, 2 of them can't come but I can't move on to the next step of check in without filling out their passport details as well. Am I ok to just fill random info for the 2 people who are not coming? Will it affect my flight if I do?
Went on the Asiana Airlines app and checked my booking, and it seems to be telling me that there has been a schedule change. However I can’t see any changes to my itinerary. Do I need to call the airline about this or is it a mistake I’ve made?
(Asiana Airlines, flights from London Heathrow to Haneda transferring at Incheon: fly out 25th November and fly back 14th December, purchased on a single ticket)
Basically the same points cost, delta 500 hundred cheaper (across 3 people) in fees. I'm tall and will have 2 small children with me. JAL PE vs DL PS going from east coast to Japan, delta goes to haneda and jal narita. They get in around the same time. Which do i do?
I booked my flight under a single fare with ANA, flying from the US->HND->Sapporo. The only itinerary option was one with a 1hr 35min layover in HND (5:25am-7:00am). The connection is possible, but it allows for a maximum of 15 minutes of unplanned for delays either in flight time or in immigration, so I consider this to be very risky (baggage collection, immigration, and baggage re-checking all need to be done in between flights).
I can book a backup flight on ANA that gives me a 3h 35min layover for $65 per person, or a backup flight with Air Do that gives me a layover of 2hr 50min for $44 per person. I'm fine paying for that as "flight insurance," however, does anyone know if:
Hi! As a person that has migraines often I was wondering how other people that get them felt when they first flew. Did you feel the change in pressure? Were you feeling sick in any way? Mostly asking so I'll know what pills to have with me and if I should take one preventively Thank you in advance!
Hi! i’ll be traveling later this month from Mumbai to AUH to JFK flying Etihad airways. I believe my flight is eligible for US preclearance in Abu Dhabi. i had a couple of questions -
Thank you! Appreciate any help here!
I booked a round trip flight with spirit from Boston to Las Vegas nov 7 to nov 9.
The return flight had two legs and the first was modified. It was too early for us, so I used the chat feature to cancel it. The chat transcript specifically says to cancel only the affected flight. I then rebooked that flight with another airline.
Well, as it turns out, my flight INTO Vegas was cancelled, and my affected return flight was not. The round trip flight cost me about $300 total and now is gonna cost me a lot more.
I have the receipts, the chat history, everything, but they only offered to cancel the return flight or give me a new departure flight that was significantly later than my original booking. I understand they can get away with saying they offered a similar flight, but this was a legit error in their processes. Ended up spending 4 hundred dollars more for a new flight. ( not including return flight) Do I have any way of getting of getting money out of these people, because right now I am paying for errors!
I booked my flights from Ireland to China via Gotogate. Flying with China Eastern.
Last week, Gotogate sent me an email telling me my return flight was cancelled. However they only offered me a full refund option. According to EU regulations, it's mandatory to offer me a reschedule option as well. I'm flying in a month so flight tickets are really expensive to book right now.
I talked to the customer service of Gotogate to ask for a reschedule, and telling them not offering so is against EU regulations. They agreed and said they have sent a request to the airline to rebook my flight.
It's been a week ever since, I message, call Gotogate customer service almost everyday. And everytime they just give me the exact same answer: "We're really sorry. The airline still hasn't responded to us." When I asked them what if the airline doesn't respond to you until my departure day, they told me "That'll never happen". But at the same time, nobody can give me an estimated time on when they can solve this. They kept telling me they'll rebook my flight but a week has passed and they still state they're waiting for airline's authorization.
I contacted China Eastern's UK office by email, it's almost imposisble to reach China Eastern in general really. They responded I need to contact my original booking platform to reschedule
Has anyone encountered the same situation before? What would you guys suggest me to do? Thanks.
