I can't find any online, anyone know where to find a replacement for the battery cover back? My roommate lost it and we can't find it no matter how hard we try!
I'm running a setup that might be considered unconventional. I have my CCwGTV connected to an HDMI to optical audio splitter, and from there into an HDMI to Component converter and into my 27" Sony Trinitron TV. Surprisingly, it all works. However, the Chromecast only goes down to 720p, with no option to select 480p.
I need that so there aren't black bars on the left and right sides of my 4:3 content. Is there a way I can force a specific resolution or aspect ratio in the settings, with ADB, or another method?
If I could force it to stretch a 4:3 image to 1920x1080, that would also work, as the component adapter squashes it down to 480i anyways.
Thanks!
And it's not because of internet speed, I've got 1GB hardwired to the Chromecast.
Trying to watch a remux of Interstellar but it keeps freezing, I'm guessing it's because of the underpowered hardware on the Chromecast.
Is there anything else I could try other than getting a more capable device?
Is there a device better suited to run these files besides the almost 6 year old "latest" aging Shield? Would the Google Streamer fair any better with trying to play similar files or suffer the same problem with large file sizes?
I have an old Panasonic blu ray has labels that supports format like dolby digital/plus, dts master audio and my panasonic tv has label that supports only dolby digital but i am not getting dolby digital on my chromecast with googletv 4k. I have tried some settings but still my player only shows as ARC and not dolby digital or something. Please help me
I just recently got a chromecast and beeb trying to set it up for 4 hours now due low connectivity even tho i placed my tv right next to my wifi router I did speedtest.net i got 150mb speeds It finally connected to my wifi and now it doesn't wanna update because it doesn't find my wifi xs Any help? I already did a hard reset aswell
I really disappointed about the Google TV Streamer. When you pay 100 dollars for at gadget you dont expect big commercials for Prime Video and Viaplay, that you can't get rid off.
What do you think, is it fair?
I have a Sony Bravia smart tv, with Google tv integrated. I don't have need for my Chromecast anymore. However i hate the Sony remote, and would like to reuse the Chromecast remote to operate the tv directly. Because i have used it previously via Chromecast, some buttons work, but not all of them. ( Arrow keys, Home key,...). Is there a way to reprogram all keys of the Chromecast remote, to use it directly on my Sony?
My phone keeps start looping whenever I try casting my Hulu to my Chromecast and it's a really old Chromecast 1 gen so I don't know what's causing this
I just bought a TCL 55" TV with a built in Google TV and, crucially, Chromecast. It's worked perfectly so far, Google TV is the best smart TV interface I've used and casting things from my laptop to my PC works perfectly. Streaming from HBO Max into the TV neatly opens the HBO Max app and streams the correct content. Works this way for all apps.
I do occasionally want to mirror my screen, though. Sometimes I'm doing stuff together with other people and I like to mirror my screen to make that more enjoyable. Other times the video or stream I'm watching doesn't have a Chromecast option and needs to be mirrored. On the TV I had before, a much cheaper and in most ways significantly worse LG TV, this worked perfectly. There was maybe half a second delay between the computer monitor and the TV screen, but the audio synced up perfectly with the TV video.
On this one, the playback is synced the second you start it... then it's clearly running at maybe 75% of the speed of the computer. Annoyingly, I can't just fix this by speeding the playback up, because the audio is at the correct speed, as in synced with the computer mirroring.
This applies for all applications, so I don't think it has a problem with streaming high resolution video or so. It happens even if I'm just on Google moving my mouse cursor around. It's slightly delayed for the first few seconds, then over time it gets more and more out of sync since it's clearly constantly slowing down.
It's very annoying since one of the main reasons I went for this TV over a different model was the built in Google TV and Chromecast. Anyone else experienced this? Any possible fixes? Is there a setting somewhere I've missed while looking through?
The exact model is a 55" TCL MQLED80, and my laptop is an M1 MacBook Air. I don't have the exact version of the Google TV OS at hand right now but can provide it if needed.
Hi, does anyone else has this issue where you cast something and th3 casted viseo goes back in time by 3 seconds every 10 second or so. Basically the video does not play continiously as it should but is all over the placr.
Youtube works perfectly but streaming websites do not and it has ruined the whole experience for me.
I cannot be the only one having this problem?
Still struggling, update. Turns out Im not great installing Kodi stuff either. Any recommendations will due. Just trying to put on some good cartoons and movies for the wife and kids.
I haven't used chromecast in a few years. And back then, it was an add on chromecast connected to HDMI
Selling a toshiba TV from 2017 for daughter and it has chromecast built in..
I factory reset the TV and from my iphone / google home app, added the TV / joined the tv to wifi, etc.
I can control the pictures it shows on the TV from my phone.
But casting?
Netflix doesn't have a cast button
Chrome browser, I go to a youtube video. No cast button.
I open youtube on the ios, it has a cast button. I click that, choose the tv and get a 'youtube is not installed on TV'.
Doing some googling, I see people saying chromecast is going away?
The chromecast on the TV can't / doesn't update?
I had looked at a toshiba firmware update before seeing this issue and couldn't find a firmware anyway.
Yes, they ARE on the same wifi. And again, I CAN control the chromecast's screen saver - show the temp, time, picture change time, etc.
But can't cast from ios. Any other ios apps that I can try?
Thoughts?
Is it possible to control the Chromecast volume individually using the Chromecast remote? I've plugged in external speakers to my TV and I'm curious if I can control the volume not on my TV but on the Chromecast itself. If there are any official or unofficial ways to do it, please let me know.
str8 out of the box, the remote wont sync, and my phone cant detect it(although ive set up many devices using the phone in the past) how can i successfully manually connect the remote
Any help much appreciated.
I keep getting bombarded with ads. I can block them with the Twitch Alternate Player but if I try to cast from my phone I can't stop them. Twitch is unwatchable with ads.
I’ve had my Chromecast with Google tv for 4 years (I still think it’s a stupid name!) and have absolutely loved it… apart from the lack of channel 4 app (UK) I honestly can’t tell you how happy it’s made me. It means we can start a show downstairs and finish in our bedroom without the stress of the phone app not connecting
Hi reddit, im noob this subject. I'm streaming from my phone to the TV with this option to watch movies or anime. My problem is that after 10-20 minutes of streaming, everything becomes laggy. How can I fix this? Useful information:
If I stream from the phone itself with screencast, the lag doesn't occur (but I don't use this option because it looks bad on the TV) Phone: OnePlus 12 TV: NVIDIA Shield TV Pro Both connected to the same WiFi network, 80 Mbps down, 20 Mbps up
I've currently got a Google Nest Audio and Google Nest Hub grouped together nicely on the Home app. I was hoping to add my living room Edifier S2000mkiii speakers specifically for Spotify to the group using the very, very long ago discontinued CCA Gen2.
Is anyone able to confirm if this is realistic and/or if they're enjoying a successful setup?
Any alternatives that work in groups rather than buying a WiiM Pro (which I'm not sure groups with Nest speakers?)
Thank you
I have had no problems casting to my Chromecast device on Windows 10. I tried installing Windows 11 about 18 months ago and went back to 10 because of this issue. I work from home and use this a lot. I tried again last week hoping things have been fixed but still the same issue. I have tried a few different Chromecast dongles. Does anyone else have this issue?
I have least problems on Brave browser and the most on Edge. If I do anything on my pc while casting it starts. I have 16 GB or ram.
Is the added 1gb ethernet port worth the upgrade for streaming purposes over chromecast tv 4k?
Currently getting 100-200mbps over wifi with the Chromecast. Can't recall I've noticed much buffering even on bigger files through stremio.
Our wired speed is about 600-700mbps.
Has anyone noticed a difference? Could it be worth it purely for future proofing?
My phone is on IOS.18.1.1 and when I made the transition from my old phone to this one I’ve been unable to cast videos to my tv
For context I was trying to cast a video playing on the chrome app, and the cast button isn’t even there anymore just outright gone
I’ve looked everywhere but I can’t find anybody talking about it, so I thought I’d go ahead and make a post myself to ask
(Side note: I can use the screen mirroring thing, but that’s not what I want, I want to still be able to access my phone while I watch)
Any other option.
The new Google TV streamer only outputs PCM audio, no Dolby Digital or Atmos, even with supported content. I’m watching local content via Stremio, and my Onn 4K Pro and old Chromecast always prioritized Dolby, which sounded fuller and louder.
Is Multichannel PCM 5.1/7.1 better than Dolby Digital/Atmos, or is it just preference? It’s frustrating not seeing the Atmos logo pop up—any insights?
I want to buy a 4K HDR10+ capable tv box. Currently between firetv stick 4k max 2nd gen and CCwGTV 4K. I’ve seen alot of people having problems with HDR10+ and it’s not detecting/playing it. I have a samsung Q70A which doesn’t have DV but HDR10+ adaptive. Also I’m outside the US so I won’t get as many ads as the US has on the firetv.
So I have been using multiple Chromecast with Google TV 4k for a while now and once in a while on VLC I would play videos at 2 times speed via Plex on my home network with no issues for framerate or audio
I upgraded to the Chromecast with Google TV since I figured it had more Ram and a better processor so it should be a good upgrade
The odd thing is video playback while streaming from PLEX on my home network can't go above 1.04 speed on VLC without losing frames.
I tested the same TV, same HDMI cable, same internet connection and same video files as well as the exact same VLC app version and settings and still the same issue.
Am I missing something here? Is it the new processor? Or the updated OS?
It's driving me crazy that a new "upgraded" device isn't performing the same as an older much less expensive device.
Anyone have any ideas?
