I keep getting bombarded with ads. I can block them with the Twitch Alternate Player but if I try to cast from my phone I can't stop them. Twitch is unwatchable with ads.
I’ve had my Chromecast with Google tv for 4 years (I still think it’s a stupid name!) and have absolutely loved it… apart from the lack of channel 4 app (UK) I honestly can’t tell you how happy it’s made me. It means we can start a show downstairs and finish in our bedroom without the stress of the phone app not connecting
Hi reddit, im noob this subject. I'm streaming from my phone to the TV with this option to watch movies or anime. My problem is that after 10-20 minutes of streaming, everything becomes laggy. How can I fix this? Useful information:
If I stream from the phone itself with screencast, the lag doesn't occur (but I don't use this option because it looks bad on the TV) Phone: OnePlus 12 TV: NVIDIA Shield TV Pro Both connected to the same WiFi network, 80 Mbps down, 20 Mbps up
I've currently got a Google Nest Audio and Google Nest Hub grouped together nicely on the Home app. I was hoping to add my living room Edifier S2000mkiii speakers specifically for Spotify to the group using the very, very long ago discontinued CCA Gen2.
Is anyone able to confirm if this is realistic and/or if they're enjoying a successful setup?
Any alternatives that work in groups rather than buying a WiiM Pro (which I'm not sure groups with Nest speakers?)
Thank you
I have had no problems casting to my Chromecast device on Windows 10. I tried installing Windows 11 about 18 months ago and went back to 10 because of this issue. I work from home and use this a lot. I tried again last week hoping things have been fixed but still the same issue. I have tried a few different Chromecast dongles. Does anyone else have this issue?
I have least problems on Brave browser and the most on Edge. If I do anything on my pc while casting it starts. I have 16 GB or ram.
Is the added 1gb ethernet port worth the upgrade for streaming purposes over chromecast tv 4k?
Currently getting 100-200mbps over wifi with the Chromecast. Can't recall I've noticed much buffering even on bigger files through stremio.
Our wired speed is about 600-700mbps.
Has anyone noticed a difference? Could it be worth it purely for future proofing?
My phone is on IOS.18.1.1 and when I made the transition from my old phone to this one I’ve been unable to cast videos to my tv
For context I was trying to cast a video playing on the chrome app, and the cast button isn’t even there anymore just outright gone
I’ve looked everywhere but I can’t find anybody talking about it, so I thought I’d go ahead and make a post myself to ask
(Side note: I can use the screen mirroring thing, but that’s not what I want, I want to still be able to access my phone while I watch)
Any other option.
The new Google TV streamer only outputs PCM audio, no Dolby Digital or Atmos, even with supported content. I’m watching local content via Stremio, and my Onn 4K Pro and old Chromecast always prioritized Dolby, which sounded fuller and louder.
Is Multichannel PCM 5.1/7.1 better than Dolby Digital/Atmos, or is it just preference? It’s frustrating not seeing the Atmos logo pop up—any insights?
I want to buy a 4K HDR10+ capable tv box. Currently between firetv stick 4k max 2nd gen and CCwGTV 4K. I’ve seen alot of people having problems with HDR10+ and it’s not detecting/playing it. I have a samsung Q70A which doesn’t have DV but HDR10+ adaptive. Also I’m outside the US so I won’t get as many ads as the US has on the firetv.
So I have been using multiple Chromecast with Google TV 4k for a while now and once in a while on VLC I would play videos at 2 times speed via Plex on my home network with no issues for framerate or audio
I upgraded to the Chromecast with Google TV since I figured it had more Ram and a better processor so it should be a good upgrade
The odd thing is video playback while streaming from PLEX on my home network can't go above 1.04 speed on VLC without losing frames.
I tested the same TV, same HDMI cable, same internet connection and same video files as well as the exact same VLC app version and settings and still the same issue.
Am I missing something here? Is it the new processor? Or the updated OS?
It's driving me crazy that a new "upgraded" device isn't performing the same as an older much less expensive device.
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm getting slightly tired of my smart tv experience.
I have three main usecases: Youtube for brainrot Plex for films and series Moonlight for games
Plex is buggy in different ways on my LG Tv, or on the chromecast that's plugged into it. Some shows might not play on one, but play on the other, and the other way around. I'm really tired of having to switch between both. Navigating plex is also laggy, so is the rest of the interface.
Youtube also is a very inconsistent experience on both.
The apple tv 4k I had in a previous house was a paragon of smoothness and responsiveness. It had others issues that mean I can't pick it.
The stupidest, latest thing I had was plex is now a better experience when running the htpc on my local server through Moonlight, compared to the chromecast app.
I'm looking at the google streamer, but reviews seem to think the ccwgtv was a fine experience to begin with which I disagree with.
Nvidia shield is a bit old at this point..
Am I going to end up having to make my own tv streamer with a raspi ?
Using a Chromecast on my Google smart tv. YouTube on the tv works perfect. Only on the Chromecast it has issues like freezing and buffering. Speed is good, have reinstalled YouTube and factory reset the Chromecast. Everything is up to date.
Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks.
As title says, I find the new remote more convenient to use and want to use it with the Chromecast with Google TV. And it works great overall just out of the box. However the lack of designated input button on the new remote is a deal breaker for me. And I could not find a way to remap it with Button Remapper apps in the app store. Did anyone find or know for any workaround?
YouTube works on all other devices on the network
The Chromecast can still play from Netflix and D+
I can even search for videos and the entire UI works, but when I click a video it just goes black. No loading, no circle, no buffer line, just black.
Help?
We had a ZVox sound bar set up, everything worked great for a few years. The ZVox died today so I unhooked it from the tv a bit ago. Now we have no sound on the tv at all. The chromecast remote seems to work on the tv. Changes inputs, turns it on and off but there is no sound at all. It displays the volume bar going up and down on the tv screen though. It's not muted. I've played with various setting configurations within the Chromecast settings menu but nothing has resolved it so far. I've restarted both the tv and Chromecast a couple times as well. I've told it to forget the Zvox and it doesn't show up under any of the settings anymore.
Under Chromecasts audio output it shows "TV default HDMI output" is toggled. Not sure if that's factoring in, and I've found no way to toggle it to something else anyway. We just moved 2 months ago, I've had no luck so far finding the og remote for the Sony.
Help, please? Thanks!
I have a Google Nest in the living room. It can operate/stream my smart tv. I want to stream in my bedroom. I bought a Google Chromecast. If I talk onto the remote in the bedroom does it operate the living room nest ?
I was wondering if somebody could explain something for me please -
The CCWGTV shipped with the YouTube app showing under stats for nerds as having a viewport of only 1920x1080. After about a year they updated to 1920x1080*2 which is correct for 4K output
The new Google TV streamer came with the correct viewport of 1920x1080*2 in YouTube for 4K but checking it now they have downgraded it to 1920x1080.
Why would they do this and my understanding is that the image will not be a true 4k because the viewport controls the resolution, not sure if that's correct?
My Chromecast keeps restarting on my living room TV, and only on this TV. My setup, which I’ve had for years, is this; a monitor with a HDMI switcher with the Chromecast and other devices plugged into the switcher. The Chromecast is powered by its original adapter.
I’ve tested with two different Chromecasts now. Both works perfectly on any other TV, except the one in the living room. I have not made any changes to my setup either. I thought maybe my switcher or something might be wearing out, but other devices are still working with it, even when testing all ports.
I noticed the Chromecast is very hot, but not sure how hot it is supposed to be normally.
One day I also noticed when turning on my Nintendo Switch that the Chromecast shut off or started blinking or something… something might be going on there, so I have tried leaving only the Chromecast in and unplugging all other devices, but this didn’t change anything.
I have tried the usual stuff; factory reset, swapping power adapter, changing HDMI port, etc.
Is there anything else I could do to troubleshoot? Does anyone have a solution?
Hi all!
As the title states, my one year old Chromecast 4k will no longer play YouTube videos. It streams via Netflix and other apps just fine. I can load into the YouTube home screen, search for videos, look at my history, all of that works, but when I try to play a video, it just gives me the buffering circle on my screen. Ads, videos cast from my phone, it's all the same.
The same videos will play instantly on my phone or PC on the same wifi network.
I have rebooted my Chromecast, cleared the YouTube cache/data, uninstalled and reinstalled the YouTube app, restarted my router, all of it to no avail.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm at a loss. YouTube is the primary app I use on my TV and I'm quite frustrated.
Thanks in advance!
I recently got a HDHomerun and run it through Plex DVR. I noticed a lot of combing on the 1080i broadcasts when watching sports or if there was text crawling horizontally.
I've narrowed it down to the CC outputting 1080p even if the video is 1080i. When I check the CC display settings it only lists progressive options (1080p, 720p, etc.) and no interlaced options. I have resolution switching turned on in Plex so it ideally would pass it to the TV to do upscaling, decombing, etc. but the TV says it's getting 1080p from the CC even though Plex shows the video stream is 1080i
It's hooked up to an LG C8 OLED which does support 1080i since if I just hook an antenna to it and watch those same channels the TV shows it's 1080i and I don't notice the combing artifacts.
Letting Plex transcode helps, but I'd rather just let the TV handle it.
Is there any way to get the CC to see 1080i as a supported resolution so it can automatically switch to that?
I got a chrome cast with a remote, as I have used chrome cast in the past I thought it would be an upgrade. The remote started heating up, so I swapped batteries, and now it doesn't turn on. To top it off when I brought it to support they said the mode was out of warranty and couldn't do anything even after admitting there were reported mechanical failures. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!
Hi all
Just had a quick question about the new TV streamer, I've just bought one and I plan to use it in a commercial building without wifi, can I use it with a hotspot?
I plan to cast my laptop to a tv
Cheers
Hello
Just a noob question, I already own 1 google chromecast for our main tv but im thinking of buying a new one for my room tv. Can I use the same account on both chromecast simulataneously?
I'm slightly hard of hearing so I'm used to reading lips when I speak to people. So when I watch a movie, I look at the lips! When the talking is slightly behind the lip moving it drives me nuts!
When I have chomecast off, it syncs fine. The TV delay setting only makes the lag longer. Can anyone offer any solutions?
I have an old HEOS 5 and HEOS 3. Both have an Aux in port. I would like to cast music from Plex to them but it is impossible without plugging in a Google Chromecast, Fire Stick or Roku or something like that. I feel like a Chromecast is my best bet, but for the life of me I cannot find out if I can plug such a thing into the Aux port or the USB port of the HEOS.
I just got a brand new pair of Shokz Openrun, and after first trying them out with my S23 ultra phone (no problems), I decided to try them on my Chromecast with Google TV. However I cannot get them to connect at all. It goes through the pairing process and detects them, but when the chromecast tries to pair with the Shokz. it's shows "Couldn't Pair", and then "Shokz Openrun discconnected" and the shokz shut down. If I try to reconnect, nothing happens. I even tried unpairing from my phone entirely to see if that was the issue.
This is the only bluetooth device I've been unable to connect to my Chromecast.
Googling around, I found a few older posts on here of people having the same issue, but no solutions. Anyone know if any fixes for this issue have been found?
