why aren’t the council incentivising more people to live in the centre so it attracts more bars, shops and restaurants? Am bewildered by the state of this city.
is anyone else sick and tired of the fireworks? we get it. someone's getting married. why do we all have to have our kids worn out and woken up for it every other night fgs? who do we even contact to report it?
What are the most popular Asian newspaper in Bradford? Are there any local ones?
Hi all,
Having moved from a nights based role to a day job and one the other side of Bradford, I've really noticed how shocking the driving standards are. Manchester Road, Canal Road, Shipley Airedale Road, all of them are riddled with careless/dangerous driving. I got a dashcam because I literally feel it's just a matter of time until I am involved in someone else's disgraceful driving. No exaggeration, I capture at least one case of bad driving on said camera on a daily basis.
Some of it can be as simple as blocking junctions off which I myself have done in error before and I expect this to be the case for the majority of these situations. However, the number of speeding cars and running red lights is truly astonishing.
Which road do you think is the worst for driving?
Just been reminiscing with my friend about our clubbing days! I vividly remember going to the commercial and then onto lingards when I was 16/17. Half a lager was 55p.
I then started going to mashed, Edwards, milk bar and then boiler house every Friday and Saturday and sometimes planet Venus on a sunday.
Those were the good old days where you go out without fear of getting attacked, you could literally stand and talk to anyone because everyone was so friendly. Bradford used to be a brilliant night out. It had a wide variety of pubs and clubs that suited everyone's taste in music.
Once I had had my daughter I started venturing to jumpin Jack's, che bar, livingstones.
Does anyone remember when livingstones closed down, what the name of the club was when it re-opened? I have 'cloud' in my head for some reason, it had 2 rooms in there which played different music. It's driving me insane.
Where do you go clubbing?
Wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere that does old school 80s style Chinese takeaway in Bradford?
Edit: Cheers for all the recommendations. Quite a few new ones for me to try!
As above. Coming over from Manchester in Thursday to see the DMA’s as the Apollo sold out. Where is the best place to park? We want to get some food beforehand too so would like to be near the leisure park thing with the cinema etc
I’ve lived in Bradford for the years I’ve been alive for, I’m just wondering if anyone else likes acting as much as I do, I’ve seen some aspiring actors throughout the city because I try and do what I can, but most of them are children. Just wondering if anyone on this app and in this city likes acting
Recently decided its time for me to open my life up and look for a partner. I'm wanting love, trust and honesty.
But how on earth do you find someone decent.
I'm almost 41, female and live in holmewood which is the worst area to live but I promise we are not all bad from here lol
Anyone any advice?
Hello all,
I had a bit of a poor experience a couple of years ago in Bradford at The Broadway when I took my family for some milkshakes. There were a lot of rough looking younger men out, lots of fake looking Yeezys and Rolexes and lots of shouting and swearing. It put me off revisiting Bradford for a while.
I’m taking my kids out in the evening and was wondering if there was a more family-friendly dessert parlour I could take them to?
It has to be Bradford and not outskirts because of reasons too long to go into here.
Thank you
EDIT OP here, I eventually went to Dessert Bank on Manchester Road (near the big Morrisons just off the M606) and found it very nice and quiet.
Off out in town for the first time in a long time, is there anywhere like the old flares where you can realistically meet somebody over the age of 30 and go without the threat of becoming a knife crime statistic in the town?
Are the train companies that serve West Yorkshire participating in the rail strikes?
Does it only affect long routes (London-Bradford for example) or are short routes (Leeds to Bradford or Bradford to Keighley) also part of it? Trying to plan a weekend in Bradford area from 30 March - April 2. Thank you in advance.
Does anybody have any memories or photos from The Sooty Museum, which was in Windhill Manor at the bottom of Carr Lane in Shipley.
I used to go every year for my birthday, and I'd love to see any photos anybody has!
I just arrived in bradford last week and I’m really searching for a warehouse operative job. I’m new here and I don’t know whether I’m allowed to post these kind of thing’s.
anyone in Bradford know any good removals companies which have realistic pricing and are reliable? please let me know thanks
I'm (hopefully) moving to a house in a permit parking area. I don't have a car, and I understand I can apply for a permit so guests can park. But I'm wondering how it works on moving day? I don't think I can apply in advance, as the house isn't mine yet, and I could potentially cause problems for the current owners. But obviously the removal van needs to park for a while to unload.
I looked at the list of things you can get a special permit for, and it doesn't include moving: https://www.bradford.gov.uk/transport-and-travel/parking/terms-and-conditions-for-waiver-permits-and-parking-dispensation/
Anyone know how this works?
Anyone remember back in the day when Thursday nights was £10 entry drinks all night there up by the Alhambra?
I'm done with all this salmon avocado sour dough junk. Where are the good greasy spoons?
I'm not from Bradford and just visiting. Been here a few times before. Every time I come here I'm caught off guard on another venue being great. For example City Vaults, Sunbridgewells. I know the city has problems, but what city hasn't? As long as the centre is kept well and maintained people should come.
I go to the climbing hub, but my internet whilst showing plenty of bars is slow to the point that apps often think they are offline
I'm wondering if changing phone provider might help?
Any one go to the climbing hub or anything else in that area and get good strong mobile data?
Edit: typo
For a friend, where would you go?
