Festive Lights

Hi

Wondering if anyone knows which streets or areas will be, or are already, doing Christmas lights that people can go and look at.

I remember last year I took the kids up to Sandhill Fold in Idle and it was stunning! So many houses so beautifully decorated amazing that so many neighbours joined in.

Bus/Train travel between Bradford and rest of the world

Back story: car is in the repair shop at Cleckheaton. A short trip by car and fairly pleasant trip by bus back and forwards. Nice bus station, no dramas at all getting into Leeds city centre. But trying to get back from Leeds to Bradford south side!!! I don't want to sound too paranoid, but are we the invisible destination? What's going to happen in City of Culture year when no-one can travel in?

How safe is Bradford?

Hello, I signed up for an exchange semester in Bradford for this upcoming winter/spring and I was wondering, how safe is Bradford? I heard that West Yorkshire has pretty high criminality rates and I don't know if it is manageable or if I should just give up on the opportunity altogether.

If this only applies to some neighborhoods, which ones would you recommend me to avoid?

Getting in touch with someone in Bradford (possibly homeless)

Hi all, I'm based in Scotland but a friend has been looking for their brother for years and thinks she has traced him to Bradford. We are not sure but think he is possibly still an addict and/or homeless. Someone in Bradford thinks they have recognised him from a post and shared recent photos of him but we really cannot tell if it is him. Apparently my friends brother regularly comes into his workplace.

We would like to reach out to her brother somehow and wondering whether there are homeless outreach services we can contact who can help us do this?

They have been looking for him for 20 years so obviously this is incredibly important and sensitive and any help would be wonderful.

Mental health n Bradford

Does everyone know how easy it is to get mental health therapy in Bradford for free? Just just got onto the NHS Bradford website for Bradford and complete a chatbot in to get referred. The therapist can even then refer you to employment services where you can get help to find a job etc. Great service I’ve recently discovered!

As per question preferably weekday. Please don't tell me Bradford is rubbish and all that...as good it can be I am all after

P.s. New to the city so I will be out on my own. Will I get strange looks?

Bradford parkrunners & parkwalkers & volunteerers

BD4 so Bowling Park is our closest parkrun/parkwalk. Have also run at Lister Park and Roberts Park. Will work our way around the others in due course and may even venture into that Leeds to try some of theirs. Any other parkrun fans in this sub?

Lived in Bradford for 42 years, never been to...

Ravenscliffe, Idle, Fagley,, Eccleshill... Basically, if it isn't Great/Little Horton, Wyke (where I live), Holme Wood, Thornton, or the city centre, I don't think I've actually gone to many other Bradford areas. Couldn't even tell you where most of them are.

Just... just thought I'd share that with you fine folk. 👍

Best food in Bradford?

Will be visiting Bradford in a few weeks, where are some recommended restaurants for a really good sit down meal?

Doesn’t necessarily have to be curry, but if it’s a standout I’ll add it to my shortlist!

Thanks in advance!

Recommendations for seamstress or dressmaker in Bradford

Hi, I'm looking for any recommendations for any seamstress or dress makers in Bradford. Specifically those with skills and knowledge regarding making shalwar kameez. My boyfriend recently took me shopping and bought both stitched and unstitched outfits. I know need some to make this beautiful material in to a beautiful piece of clothing. It's completely new to me and I don't want to get it wrong ( especially as this was bought with the idea of wearing it when I meet his parents when they visit in the summer)

Looking for seamstress in Bradford

Hi, I'm looking for some recommendations and help! My boyfriend recently took me shopping for traditional pakistani clothing ad a gift ( prior to a meet the parents situation) we bought some stitched outfits but also some beautiful unstitched shalwar kameez material. Now I'm looking for some recommendations for a seamstress or tailor in the area to go to have this made up? Anywhere in West Yorkshire would be fine as long as they come highly recommended.

I’ve written a poem called Bradford once majestic - see what you think. The poem explores how we the people from diverse cultures in the city are the ones to save it - not the useless council.

Bradford, once majestic, now left to decay, Years of neglect, have led it astray. A city forgotten, by those in command, Left to wither, in a no man's land.

But Bradford, with its people, so diverse, Has a strength, a spirit, that cannot be coerced. Its streets and alleys, now worn with age, Can still be revived, if we turn the page.

We must embrace, the cultures of many, Working together, to build a new penny. With new energy, and fresh ideas, We can make Bradford, a city that cheers.

From Little Germany, to Manningham, From Lister Park, to Horton, we'll cram, Our hearts with hope, and our minds with dreams, To make Bradford shine, like golden beams.

So let's roll up our sleeves, and get to work, Let's not let Bradford, become a quirk, A city of ruins, and tales of the past, We'll make it new, a place that will last.

Bradford, once majestic, now in our hands, We'll breathe new life, and make it grand. A city reborn, from its ashes and dust, With our hearts full of love, and our minds full of trust.

Does anyone remember the details around the Odeon closure and then being left to rot? The story that several councillors avoided prosecution over dodgy dealings of selling it to a developer who planned to knock it down?

Interested because I want to do a video piece on this ahead of the re-opening next year.

Why are people not more angry about the state of Bradford. Literally the town centre is dead, Vision Express are closing down their shop - the Broadway is a disaster and that whole complex replaced a great part of Bradford - mainly the old roundabout area.

why aren’t the council incentivising more people to live in the centre so it attracts more bars, shops and restaurants? Am bewildered by the state of this city.
