Hello, I am looking to get my bf something to help with dry skin under his beard for Christmas. He has a short beard, really just on the face. He doesn’t let it grow out and doesn’t want to. He has dry skin under it that flakes sometimes, especially as it has gotten colder in my area. He doesn’t currently do any care on his beard other than trimming/shaving certain parts. His skin is also sensitive.
When I google it, I’m getting kinda confused about beard oil vs balm vs wash and what really helps with the dry skin.
Any recs on what works best for dry skin? Thank you!
Hey guys I’m looking for a good trimmer for my contours and seeking your advice
I tried the braun BT9441 with both contour heads and absolutely cut myself on the first try so I sent it back.
I have a one blade but for me the shave is not close enogh. same with the Braun XT5.
Now I’m looking for a budget trimmer which will get the job done. I have been looking at the
Thanks for your advice
Gday all, I've been trying to fill in the patches for my beard with no success. I've tried shaving consistently and also have a derma roller and beard oil on the way. How often to I apply the oil and roller and do they work well?
Any other tips and tricks please! Cheers
I apologize if this is a stupid question, I'm new to mixing oils. I have two questions
I want to get my boyfriend something for his beard to make it softer. His beard makes my face itch and irritates my face. He says he uses a conditioner, but idk what one and how often he uses it tbh. He mostly has a short beard and I want to look for something possibly non-toxic and something that works with acne prone skin, thanks!
I have been trying to replace my current cheap Braun trimmer for years because it does not give a good cut even after a lot of passes, but I just cannot find an alternative that convinces me.
As of now, my main gripe is that I just waste way too much time trimming and even longer having to clean up the mess after with scissors. A few random thoughts:
Was set on the Philipps Norelco 9000 Prestige beard trimmer, but:
Most people seem to recommend barber-grade brands like Wahl over consumer brands like Philipps or Braun, but most of these recommendations seem to be from an US-centric perspective (in Europe, those brands are more expensive, have fewer models, and don't have the same support/part availability). Still open to everything if worth it.
What I'm looking for:
Any ideas?
I find my beard growth to be extremely patchy and slow. I’ve got beard genetics as my father (53) and younger brother (22) both sport full beards. I’m currently 28, my beard on both my cheeks are patchy and the hair follicles that connect the beard are not activated (maybe only 2-3 hair follicles are activated) I’m wondering if the patchiness would ever fill out, and if yes, how do I speed up the process. Is there anything I should be doing to be able to grow the full beard that I’ve always wanted? Any bits of advice would be greatly appreciated.

They stab my skin and it gets infected. They are so hard they can break in half like a little stick and so sharp they have gotten stuck in my skin like a splinter. I've tried a variety of oils and balms, which help a bit, but haven't come close to solving the problem. I've resorted to lathering large amounts of neosporin ointment at night, which seems to be helping a bit with the infections, but not completely. Is there any sort of chemical softener or straightener that could help?
What do people recommend for a beard trimmer between norelco multigroom 9000, Braun 9s 9440, or manscaped hedge trimmer
Hi folks, I’m having trouble trimming my beard evenly around the jawline and chin. It seems like the cut it not even, and some areas remain a little longer. This makes it look patchy since the cut isn’t even. This is the same regardless of me using either a 6mm guard or 3mm guard. It’s uneven so sometimes I just trim it all the way. Does anyone have any advice on how to cut it evenly with a trimmer, especially around the contours of the chin and jawline?
i m almost 20 and most of my friends had beard at this age even my brother. but i have zero beard hair. i do have little moustache and some growing hairs on chin. should i use 0.5 mm derma roller to increase the chances of my beard growth?
Hi all!
So I want to get my very hairy SO a trimmer for Christmas. He’s got it all..from back and beard hair, to toe hair. it’s super coarse and there’s a lot of it. I know NOTHING about trimmers. Not even sure if there is a difference. Price doesn’t really matter. I saw MANSCAPED has a lot of good bundle packages but don’t know if I’m just being promoted a crappy brand. Could you all pleeeease give me a direction to go in? Thank you so much!
Happy trimming!
Question for the big bros with big heads and big bodies that line up and shape up their own beards. What is the best self-guide tool or self-line-up tool for a guy with a big head and a big body who likes to keep his beard looking clean at all times without having to go to the barbershop? What techniques are you guys using to make sure your line stays perfect and crisp? Do you use a straight razor or do you use a regular shaving razor? How do you get your neck line shaped up perfectly?
i already have an understanding that jojoba and argan are essential. but are there other oils that i ought to add? i've been already daydreaming of mixing jojoba, argan, peppermint, eucalyptus, and camphur.
I want to get my bf beard oils for Christmas. He is constantly grooming it and making sure it looks good, but unfortunately sometimes when he’s stressed he picks at it, and now he has a bald patch underneath. If there are any beard oils that promote growth for him for the bald patch that would be great as well. I just want to get good quality products for him. Thank you in advance and happy holidays!!!
alright i'm gonna try to keep this as short as i can! i have coarse beard hair and it gets pretty frizzy with a lot of fly aways when it gets more than a 1/4 inch. i know i need to train it, i've got a brush and a comb, i also know i need a product that will help me train it and style it and keep it healthy.
here's the rub, even at 35 i still have pretty acne prone skin that's also sensitive. i have a skin care routine that works well for me using gentle products, but once the beard gets long enough i don't think i'll able to rely on just my regular moisturizer for the skin below my beard without maybe damaging the beard hair (i use Cerave moisturizing cream and Cerave SA cream.)
i know a beard conditioner is recommended for acne prone skin by dermatologists but i read you should only use it a few times a week. my skin needs a daily moisturizer, so what can i use in between the days i use a conditioner? there's also the fact that i need something to help tame fly aways and style the beard a bit too because of how coarse and wild it can get. i figured a beard oil or balm would be good for that along with brushing it but i'm having trouble finding one that's as comedogenic as i'd like.
i'm thinking i can use a conditioner a few times a week on the beard once it gets long enough, brush it daily, and even use a blow dryer for some styling as well, but that's where i get a bit lost. what do i do about a moisturizer and styling at that point without wreaking havoc on my skin? sorry i know i'm asking a lot here but any advice/suggestions as well as product recommendations will all be super appreciated!
When I come out of the barbers the beard looks slick but eventually the hairs above my beard line (on my cheeks) start to grow back and I look kinda rageddy! Since I don't wet shave, I run my clippers over them but they'll not take the hairs shorter than a couple of mm... so I can't really get back that fresh-from-the-barbers look.
Any suggestions? Potentially a trimmer can cut a lot shorter then my clippers but I imagine there's a better way. Ideally whatever I get will be a long-lasting "buy once" product.
Edit: to clarify my wet shave remark, I should add that I can't use a razor due to motor/nerve problems as well as fragile skin. Not a great combo!
Hello, i was looking for some reccomendation for bear products in Europe, i use mostly Mr Bear family, switched to brighton beard company but i found it wasn't that good, i'm now considering of going back to Mr Bear Family, but i was also laying my eyes on Beard Octane and a brand i didn't see mentioned here ever, which is called Saponificio Varesino, which offers a beard wash and a beard butter, i'm considering this because it offers cheap shipping, but the only problem is that this brand offers only a beard wash and a beard butter but no beard oil, should i go for Mr Bear Family to use just beardwash and oil, or try the full package from beard octane, or try this small brand that looks nice but has no oil per se? I'm submitting the link of the Saponificio Varesino because since it never was mentioned i'd think it would be easier to find it this way. https://www.saponificiovaresino.com/svstore/en/shop/beard-care/beard-balm-100m/ https://www.saponificiovaresino.com/svstore/en/shop/beard-care/beard-wash-150ml/ I'm considering it because it would be the cheapest option.
Many thanks
Im 19 years old and for my age i can grow a decently thick beard except for moustache and chin/underchin. Ive been shaving often to see if it would grow every other month for 2.5-3 years and now ive been letting it grow and lightly trimmed it for 5 months and no hair at all is growing on my chin, under my chin (neck is growing thick just not chin) and moustache is faint and it wont connect. Is this normal for it to take that long to start growing hair there , genetics or am i doing something wrong?
Hey guys! I’ve been toying with the idea of growing a full beard for a while now, but I always end up keeping it as just stubble. I’ve finally decided—this time, I want to go all in and give it a real shot for 3 months without shaving it off. But before I dive in, I’d love to hear from those of you who’ve gone through the process. What are some of the challenges or surprises I should be prepared for? Any tips on how to manage common beard problems would be really appreciated!
I've been growing the 'stache out (have a full beard but always kept my mustache pretty short). This is the 3rd or 4th time I've tried and I always get frustrated and trim it back, but I'm by far the furthest into it as I've been.
I've watched a few videos on using wax and I just can't seem to get it to work for me. I heat the wax with my dryer until it's basically a liquid, get a bit on my nail or a pick, rub it between my fingers, and then try to apply to the mustache. We're only talking a few seconds but by the time I'm at the mustache the wax is already so hard that it feels like I'm pulling the hairs out of my lip and I can never get an even application, or even close.
Is it just a "practice and be faster" thing? Am I doing something wrong? Is my house too cold? I just can't imagine how anyone is working that consistency of product into their hairs
My beard hair is curly and all over the place.
I need something to straighten it, and keep it tidy and in one place.
Would a beard straightener be necessary or would a comb be fine?
I’m Christmas shopping for my boyfriend and he said he wanted beard products. I don’t want to get anything cheap or low quality, but I have no clue what brands are the “nice” brands. Any suggestions?
My boyfriend has expressed interest in starting to actually take care of his beard, so I'd like to get him something for Christmas. Relevant info:
I'd like a product that's budget friendly and used daily!
For the life of me I can’t remember the maker of the beard oil I used to buy… it came in a small white bottle with a black lid and the scent was scarecrow….anyone have any ideas?
Now that I (23M) graduated, I want to take care of my looks. I still can't grow a full, even beard so I've stuck with an Anchor Beard. What is recommended for shaving and maintenance? I'm a beginner and have been using Gilette and an electric razor for years.
I know Stirling makes a lot of body products, but I’ve never heard anything about their beard oils or balms. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
How quickly do you go through a 2oz tin of balm and wax?
I'm applying the Kirkland 5% minoxidil on my face and I should say I'm seeing results. My beard lines on side and jaw are connecting as well as my chin and stache line. But after a month in, I'm shedding hair like crazy. I have thinned out so much I think it's noticable now. My hairline is fine I suppose but at this rate of shedding I don't know what to do. Should I bite the bullet or give it up?
For more, I always had a head full of curly hair on the finer side, never experienced shedding, only after the last few weeks.
