Hi folks, I'm thinking of buying a plot of land in Alamogordo to set up a tinyhouse or mobile home to live in.
The plots to the west (closer to White Sands) are a lot cheaper, but without much vegetation. The plots to the East are a little higher up in elevation.
I'm concerned about the wind/sand/dust eroding my house, but am not sure how big of an issue that is – and whether the elements are less harsh on the Eastern side. What do you guys think? Cheaper western plot, or more expensive eastern/high-elevation lot?
Any other advice about living in a mobile home/tinyhouse in the area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
I've heard from some higher up people who deal with the city, but apparently the reason not a lot is here becauseealmart has made a deal with the city to be the only major place in alamogordo for a certain amount of years. Also, apparently there are people running this city who dont want new things here which is why it takes so long to for anything to actually be established here. Another reason businesses cant succeed here is because of their own greed putting everyone in the ground first (This is just word of mouth fron 3 people so far)
Keep an eye out for balloons early tomorrow morning and into the evening, as well as Sunday morning. Read more about it here. Do note that parking off site may get you a ticket, and not the good kind.
Passed it on the right 70 headed to base just before the “w” fireworks stand, pulled over to check it out but it trotted away from the road. I hope this goes where it needs to.
I recently moved back to Alamo, and we like the houses over there in the Kelly, Dublin, Galloway streets. How is the train noise? Are the houses well built? Thanks!
Moving to Alamogordo in April 2025. Are there any coed adult soccer leagues in Alamogordo?
Hey hit me up if you're in Alamogordo and are bored and lonely I could use some human interaction lol
Looking into opening a cat cafe in the Granada center. Really focusing on the high schoolers and tourist as main clientele but wondering if anyone else would be genuinely interested in it. Our main focus on the cafe side would be smoothies and pastries and the cats would be a separate area you pay to enter.
Think it was between 9-10pm. The trail stopped appearing shortly after maybe 5 minutes if that and then the object got smaller and smaller till it was no longer visible.

I don’t understand how these are not considered illegal monopolies along with the hikes themselves being legal.
This is a poor area not new california. I know a lot of people are planning on hopping states
It makes so much noise at night and during the day. The animals are right next to it and it’s obnoxious. I was in the zoo this summer, and the train passed and it was loud for me and my family. The rumble can disturb the animals sleep and the horn is so loud you can hear it from the college. I can’t imagine how the animals feel everyday… 😢I know there isn’t really a solution to this, but it just makes me sad for the animals, they don’t understand what’s happening.
Missed a call from the City Attorney. Anybody else get these? I haven’t been ticketed, summoned, or gotten any yard overgrowth notices. Any ideas what they need?
Hi everyone. I’m not from here. Just flew in to supposedly help a friend, but apparently my help is not appreciated. So instead of staying with them, I’m gonna need a place to stay until a friend from Cali picks me up. Where can I best find a cheap and decent one, especially at this hour? I also won’t have a car so hopefully somewhere I can walk to with a luggage. Unfortunately not a troll post, thank you in advance.
