Vista Street spook

Years ago I lived in one of the two storey townhouses on Vista Street in Hobbs. Late one night I thought I heard what sounded like a cat scratching at the front door. I went slowly down the stairs with my LED flashlight and I noticed the front door was still open at a 45 to 65 degree angle and we had just cleaned the glass screen door. I then saw something that I will never forget. It appeared to resemble an alien grey but hunched over with disproportionately long arms and fingers . It stood about three and a half feet tall and was rusty muddy brown in color and it had a long rat like tail. It ran past the front of my house at about 20 miles per hour and grazed the side of one of our garbage cans as it ran, in a very unnatural looking fashion. In the morning , I smelled a subtle but foul smell, like that of a bad cigar mixed with vinegar. I still have no clue as to what I witnessed that night. My mom has always stood by my account and so did a friend I had years back who I met a couple of years after me moved from our house in Vista to a home elsewhere in Hobbs. With the pollution run rampant and the Roswell crash having taken place a mere hundred miles from my home, there are many possible explanations. I am a firm believer in the paranormal, I grew up in Chicago and my mom is Italian so I inherited a lot of her more old world and esoteric beliefs. Has anyone else ever heard or seen this entity or something even superficially similar here in Hobbs? I'd love to hear any cryptid stories if anyone has them.

Traffic

Is it me or is Hobbs traffic like it was before the crash in 2015?

Seems like the traffic and activity around town has picked up in the last couple weeks.

Anyone know where I am speaking of?

Okay , so I was taking a night walk with a glow stick on a lanyard for safety purposes the other night ( I am 27 years old and this is a frequent hobby of mine ) and I came across a very creepy looking run down house on Fowler Street. It is like a block or two before you reach Navajo on your left hand side as you are heading north. If Merlin the Wizard ever lived in a house in the Southeastern corner of New Mexico, I feel that this place would be right up his alley. I love to see it and it's fittingly creepy accompanying dead tree against a cloudy, moonlight night sky. It's a sort of landmark/point of reference for me when I take long walks , which I do quite frequently during the summer months. Anybody else feel either creeped out or intrigued by this place if they even know where I am talking about at all? I'd love to know of any opinions or experiences regarding this particular location.

Hobbs 411 FB page

The Hobbs 411 FB pages seem to be tons of gossip, fighting and nosey people.

I haven't checked how many admins there are on each page. There should also be better rules on what's allowed.

I'm not originally from here, but we do like this town.

Cemetery on Dal Paso Street

I took a night walk to this cemetery (Boone Cemetery) a few nights ago and boy was it relaxing and surreal. I am okay walking long distances at night, and with visiting cemeteries period. I am a transplant from Chicago ( I moved here in December of 2007 when I was 13, nearly 14) ( I was born in 1994, but I don't feel a single hour over 17). Good Italian genes and food do wonders for one's youth and vitality. Anyway, that cemetery is one of the few spots in Hobbs that I can truly wind down and collect my thoughts, thoughts of lost love, hope for my mom's health and sorting ideas I have for stories. Historical, yet modern. Appealing to the eyes, yet battered by the elements and the steady march of time. It's a beautiful and necessary meditation spot for me and I also get a good workout walking to and from the cemetery. Anyone else have any experiences of visiting this particular location in Hobbs? I'd love to know.

Got a job offer for the casino here

I was wondering if the move is worth it, cuz I never been. Are businesses booming? Are there any activities? Is it desert area? How about the food? Housing?

Where can a Texas Boy get authentic, traditional New Mexican food?

I've had all the TexMex I want. I'm in Hobbs for a few days looking for something different where can I get the real deal New Mexican chili stuff? This king enchiladas with sauces I cant get in Texas. Maybe Chili Rellenos or something similar.

Crime rates?

Looking at moving into the area for a job, and want to make sure we are making good choices. How's the crime rate? Are DUI's a major issue? Are gangs an issue? Is there a good/bad side of town? Are there major drug problems in the area? Are the smaller towns like Andrews or Seminole better or worse?

Thanks for any info available.
