Hey all!
Looking to get into my own splash screen creation with digital art and photographs for personal use, not sale. Curious what tools you might recomend to make animated theatre of the mind maps on my own. Thanks for any tips!
Hey!
as the title says,
Im looking for a program that will allow me to make "nested" maps that are offline.
think WorldAnvil type maps.
I don't necessarily need a VTT per say, but that type of functionality would be helpful eventually.
I am using a defunct program called "Fantasy Mapper" out of spite given that worldanvil support did not assist me in getting a world of +7 years back from accidental deletion. but this program does not have the ability to make pins that can be clicked on to take you to another map, only pins with details sadly.
If you all have any suggestions I would be happy to hear them. thank you for your help!
I am trying to assemble my first World of Darkness online game on a VTT. I have several hundreds images of NPCs but I need to process them (ideally in batch) to do things like create a token version, a large framed version and a smaller "polaroid" framed version; I would also like to benefit from new AI in order to upscale small images or extend them and possibly show these NPC over different background and doing different things.
I started looking into it... and was instantaneously dizzy with the absolute deluge of options, from artflow.ai to artbreeder to using text based image generators like Flux and StableDiffusion, to photo editing plateform such as Fotor, Pixlr, Caneva, etc all the way to full professional suites like Adobe.
So I am wondering if other GM / Storytellers have experienced similar research and settled down on some of these, or other options. How do you use AI to help your gaming? How expansive it is? Which tool would you recommend? Any tool out there for some batch processing, or something enabling the design of hundreds of icons in the similar style?
I just bought a projector for projecting maps in DnD. I bought a projector rather than a TV because TVs are big and I don’t want to scratch it with minis.
Which VTT would be best to use for the projector? I want something that can project a map, and not let me accidentally change the scale. I plan on projecting the map onto a table physical minis, so the scale can’t change. Some custom draw able fog of war and measuring tools might be nice.
A lot of the design of 5e is meant to streamline time consuming tasks, but it can also make the complexity more shallow.
I'm curious if through automation 3.5 or 4e can become faster and may offer a similar level of game experience for tactical minded players or possibly a better experience?
Which editions of DnD have you played on VTT and how did VTT automation affect your gameplay from a tactical combat perspective?
I'm looking for a VTT or other program that has support for viewing the areas currently lit by torches, and keeps all the previously uncovered areas persistent with a fog of war.
I'm running a dual screen setup, so I'd like to be able to move a torch token around in GM view, and have a separate player view synced up to the GM view and displayed on another screen.
Owlbear + Smoke & Spectre used to be perfect for me, but with the latest update it's been very choppy and it has only limited persistence. EDIT: I was able to fix my performance issues by forcing Chrome to use my laptop's real GPU rather than the integrated one, and I was able to "fix" the persistence issues by cutting all of the discovered fog shapes after each session using owlbear's built-in fog tools.
Ideally I'd have a way to import things from owlbear + smoke & spectre but not sure if that's possible.
Im looking for a few dungeon maps in fantasy grounds! Does anyone have any recommendations they don’t have to be anything fancy just looking for something that isnt the generic black and white
I’m handy with creating maps in GIMP, and it would be very easy to automate creating a layer representing walls — if there is standard layer naming convention or something so that a map could be imported into a VTT and require minimal reworking therein. ??

Hey r/VTT,
I am designing a Year Zero Engine-based modern fantasy game (think Twilight: 2000 4th Edition crossed with Forbidden Lands) and am looking for an easy-to-customize VTT to help with play-testing. I eventually plan to invest in hiring people to code it as a rules system/module series for the most popular VTTs (thinking Foundry, FG, and Roll20), but in the mean time, just need something to run character sheets, grid movement, and other basic VTT functions that I can make work without a lot of coding. Any recommendations for a coding-averse game designer would be much appreciated!
I am looking for a VTT that has map creation tools like Shmeppy and support to use form fillable PDFs so I can play whatever the hell I want without having to futz with different systems and the like. Anyone know of anything quite like this?
Hello, I am a DM who ran 4e way back when on Roll20 and enjoyed it. I've since moved away from Roll20 (dislike its UI) and want to run 4e and other games for my friends. I own Fantasy Grounds and while I like their automation I am not a fan of having to "run the VTT" on top of running the game. By that I mean I don't have the patience to watch 500 tutorial videos on how to use FG. Foundry seems to also have a similar steep curve of learning to use it and add modules. I have an Alchemy sub because I fell in love with the UI and was hopeful for its future but I've slowly lost patience with it due to its clunky UX and the devs’ focus on adding more and more games and selling game bundles over fixing their basic UX. I also play in an Owlbear Rodeo game run by another DM but from what I've seen there's not much automation at all so that's out too.
So since the big names are out, I'm hoping there might be a lesser-known VTT out there that suits my needs. Anybody know of one?
To make it easier, I'll make a few bullet point lists:
What I'm Looking For
Extras I Would Like
What I Don't Care About
What I Don't Want
Hopefully I'm not asking for too much or looking for a unicorn. I just want to see if there's a VTT out there that fits all/most of what I'm asking for.

I was reading Wyrdwood Wand and it looks super cool! I was going to test the character sheet on Roll20, but the system isn’t there.
Checked a ton of other VTT sites and I can’t seem to find one that supports the system. I know it’s pretty similar to D&D 4e, but I’d prefer to have VTTs that support the system specifically.
Do you use words, images or video to set the scene when you start an encounter or adventure?
Hello reddit,
I have the roll20 module for SODTQ, unfortunately I do not own the players handbook nor monster manuel. My friend however does own both of these in DND beyond and we can content share to get past this. roll 20 doesn't integrate with DND beyond, and I doubt even Beyond20 extension would help me with what I want to do ( which is the ability to drag in monsters to the scene)
does anyone have any recommendations on how I can move my roll20 module to another VTT? or a way to get past this issue without having to buy the phb and monster manual?
