This is probably really simple and I'll feel like an idiot, but how do you create a Note Template. When I create a new note, I see the heading but there is nothing in the list and I can't figure out how to create one. My Googling has been futile as well. Thanks
Hello, I today bought an asset pack for Arkenforge. Furniture and Decor: Home. It didn't show up on the side menu in Arkenforge so I logged out and logged back in. Then I get met with "Start 30 day trial" I have paid for this program already. I have also bought Cyberpunk, Post Apocalyptic and Sci Fi Essentials packs. I have been using this program for nearly a year now and I cannot for the life of me find any proof of purchase....where would I find this information? I have no emails saying I bought it and looking in my bank statements I can't find it either. But I must have bought it otherwise I wouldn't have been using it for so long or have the other asset packs which in my orders on Arkenforge, they are not listed. All I have is an email about my account creation, one about password change and some later asset pack buys.
I don't want to buy it again.
Hey!
I am thinking about purchasing Arkenforge, but a burning question I have is if this program can make an "overworld" style map that I can place map markers on and hover over them to get the name , and description and even click on to take me to the relevant map.
That would really be the defining reason for me, as I am struggling to find a offline solution to my map making problems as I use WorldAnvil currently to set up where places are in my world and I dont necessarily need a "battle map" but that functionality will help eventually
I'm trying to figure out a way to pivot the measurement template that you can produce after checking the "make persistent" in the measuring tools. I know you can do it while you are still actively using the measurement tool, but that makes it a pain in the butt to keep the same exact measurement.
For instance, lets say that one of my players is casting a spell with a 30 foot cone AoE. It would be nice to be able to precisely measure out the 30 foot cone, and then be able to pivot the template with the point of origin remaining where the players tile is, allowing them to determine exactly which direction they want the spell to go.
As it is, I can only figure out how to move to template as is, but the direction seems to be locked. Am I missing anything, or is this not possible?
whenever i try to do any of the updates. either launcher or the toolkit. it just sits on "downloading versions.txt" and never proceeds any further. any suggestions on how to get any further?
EDIT: I've spoken directly with u/Arkenforge since pax. Everything is cool, and the foundry comments were the personal opinions of one of their partner DMs. I'm still very interested to give Arkenforge a try, and this negative interaction turned into something much more positive.
Original post:
Arkenforge looks really cool, but I'm not sure I want to buy it after my stop at their stand at PAX AUS this afternoon. I learnt more from the website than the show, and was told some flat-out lies in the process.
The staff started out friendly, we talked about our gaming crew, and how we mostly play remotely. They asked us if we were "forever GMs", I replied that my gf is and I'm the "forever Foundry admin". And this is where the wheels fall off.
There was no talk of what arkenforge even does, the only attempt to convince me to use it was "it's a one-time license, not a subscription like Foundry." Foundry is also a one-time license. "Oh, but you have to host it somewhere, and that's basically a subscription fee, right?" No, I run it on a machine I already had hosting stuff, or I could put it on my computer at home. If we weren't playing remotely, I could even play it without internet access. Yeah there are 3rd-party hosting services, but that's not essential or even relevant.
I wanted to learn about arkenforge. Not be told how my current tools are bad. We left.
There was no mention of the fact that arkenforge wouldn't be a good fit for us anyway because we can't play in person. No mention that we can still use the map building tools and the ability to export to other VTTs. No mention of the fact that you have a Foundry module.
I'll probably still try the trial at sooner point. I hope that's a better experience than you're booth at PAX.
I've had numerous times where I am making a map and realize the my scaling as off, either just too big or not big enough to make sense. I know I can resize assets but a lot of times grouped assets don't always scale well when resizing. Being able to simply rescale my grid would save a ton of time and make it simple.
I saw a response from 4 years ago stating that it should be coming but as far as I can tell it never has.
All in all this is my only complaint in this system and love using it.
First of all, very nice tool - it has a lot more features than I need, and seems to do everything I need!
A single question that might be down to me not understanding the tool yet.
I am projecting the tabletop onto a surface with minis. As such I don't want players to see tokens, but I would like to use them for the revealing of terrain and fog-of-war features. So I hide the tokens from the players, but that causes a big icon to appear on top of the tokens for the GM. That, combined with the resizing control make the sweet spot to select and drag an asset very small.
Is there a way to go into "play" mode so all these extra features are hidden? I really only want to be able to move then tokens for my specific use case. Or am I barking up the wrong tree here and using the tool incorrectly?
I use the beta toolkit and touch client. I am trying to figure out a way to have either an animation or a static image "anchored" to 2 separate touchpoints or tokens. The idea is if a wizard casts witch bolt, I can have the one end anchored to his token and the other end anchored to the enemies token, and then the witch bolt animation/indicator would move with both of them as they move around. Anyone have any ideas on how to get accomplish this?
If I import tokens, is there a way to save them after making them a particular size? Most of the time, I import them and they are only 1 square size.
Hi,
I have some question about Arkenforge.
Can Arkenforge create procedural randomized rooms by choosing a theme like Dungeon Alchemist ?
Can Arkenforge import maps from Dungeon Alchemist to be later modified and used in Arkenforge ?
(The reason I ask for those 2 questions is sometimes i improvise games and that kind of utilities would be greatly appreciated)
Does anyone know if there is a way to save templates and/or tokens with effects? For instance, I have a bunch of digital condition/status rings that I want to add the rotate effect to and save them for easy use. I am also trying to use the measurement tools to measure out spell AOE templates and save them for easy access. I can't seem to figure out a way to save these once I have them set up, so it results in having to redo it all every time I want to use them. Is there a way to save these, or am I stuck with the manual way?
I also posted this on the discord so hopefully I'll be able to figure this out one way or another.
I had my first session using an IR Frame Sunday night, and my players kept running into the problem were their tokens were getting stuck behind areas that I had blocked off with one way walls. I use the one way walls to block vision while still allowing the players to see the objects like large boulders or other obstacles. The issue is that it seems that the one way rule applies to both vision AND movement, so if the touch screen glitches a bit and moves the token through the tile with the barrier, they are then stuck behind it.
Is there a way or any plans to have a way to make the one way walls only be one way for vision? Or is it already like this and the problem lies in the touch functionality throwing tokens behind barriers that they shouldn't be?
I remember reading before that there were plans to make it so that you could set different distances for different vision types. Like 50 tiles for regular vision, but only 12 tiles for dark vision. Has that been implemented yet? If so, I can't seem to find it. If not, anyone know an eta? I just got my IR frame and really want to have the different vision sets for my players.
Somehow the red lock icon is always showing. Previously it only showed on the Map tools/locking tab. Help please!
Hey guys, I have a bunch of maps downloaded and they have been working great for in-person play, but now that I am more familiar with the system I want to go back and add some animations to some of them. I watched the tutorial on making water animated on one of the YouTube tutorials but when I tried to do it myself the "tile scroll" effect wasn't listed in my assets. Do you have to purchase a certain pack to get that? Are there any more in-depth videos available on how to animate maps? A lot of the content I have been finding doesn't really match my master's toolkit, so I am assuming they are from outdated versions of the program.
While trying to import content the import tool gets to 97.65% and stops no matter which one im trying to import.
I was making my first map and quite happy with the way things were progressing. After lunch I went back to creating my map and now I cannot move the screen with the mouse. It just selects which is not what I want the mouse to do right now. What have I done and how do I fix it?
Is there a way to import whole pre-made UVTT files into the layers of a map on arkenforge?
I have downloaded a load of pre-made curse of strahd UVTTs and want to stack them up on top of each other for multi-level buildings.
Thanks
Is there a Linux installer for this or anybody found a way to install this on a steam deck or Linux device
Hi short of the measurement tools are the any built in tools for showing area of effects, spell radius/cones/cubes(rectangles)
I am struggling to figure out a way to block the global lighting from illuminating the inside of a cave with an imported map. I have all the walls of the cave blocked off and the line of sight and everything is fine, but when the time of day is set to noon for instance, the inside of the cave is also lit up like noon. Is there a way to block this light or to turn it off for certain parts of the map?
Hey all,
do you know if there is an APK (Android Touch Client) version compatible with the Toolkit Demo version? For Windows I know I have to download a different Toolkit version.
I tried with LineageOS on a Raspi4B, and it works like a charm with the public stream, but unfortunately it isn't detected by the Beta version of the Toolkit :)
Thanks
Jake
I've been happily using Arkenforge and it's modules to build maps for my weekly cyberpunk red game. I've read the use/publishing guidlines on their website. I'm not looking to publish anything, just share it on reddit/with my friends. Is this allowed, is it ethical?
I don't know why but sometimes, mostly things like lights like neons (Have the Cyberpunk assets) I sometimes can't select them. So I can't move them around, or delete them. They show up on the map but I can't click on them. Which has caused me to select all that I can and copy paste them on a new map and recreate the lights that I couldn't select. But then another light or something will become unselectable.
I have a quick video of what I mean. The example I show has everything on the bottom level so it's not a case of being on the wrong elevation.

Hello
I have a few questions about the functionality of the program for working with 3 displays and Miracast.
I want to connect an additional, 3rd display to my laptop. It will display portraits of non-player characters. Does this program have such functionality?
Does the program work with Miracast? Is it possible that one screen is connected via a cable and the other via Miracast?
Is there a simple way to add pictures to maps that the players can’t see until I click on them? So I can show them a picture of the monster they’re fighting etc.? Edit: I don’t mean a hidden token but a full players screen image
Does anyone know if there is a way to have walls function similarly to Foundry's terrain walls where you can see the object(like a horse or boulder) but not see past them? I'm going nuts trying to figure out how to get this to work.
