I'm trying to make a certain map go underneath another one
Need the background behind maps to be black, and this dark blue isn't fitting
Hello all, I am running my first d&d campaign as a DM instead of player in early 2025. And we have been enjoying owlbear alot.
We play tabletop with a TV screen for maps. Just wondering which browser gives the smoothest experience for owlbear ?
Thanks!
Imagine if the characters in your game walked into a cave and saw an ominous pool of water in the middle.
"Ominous how?"
"Well ... swirling colours and stuff."
"How is that ominous?"
"Like so:"
Take one portion of snow, one of rain, one of fire, one of sand and one of cloud. Stir well.
Is there a way to save the position of your camera in a scene? For example, i switch scenes for my players and then what appears for them is a position saved before, like a close up of everyone. Need it since between the scenes if I'm changing, a lot of things could be leaked
Firstly, let me start by saying I love Owlbear. As a GM it is so easy to master, and performance is great for our online sessions! I did have a question....
...is there any way to hide/disable the little menu that comes up when my players select their tokens for movement etc? I am referring to the one with the hide, delete, duplicate buttons etc as per my picture.
I don't believe the token anonymizer extension does what I need as I need the players to still be able to see, highlight and move their own tokens around.
Not the end of the world if not, but I have been playing with different extensions etc to see if it is possible and have yet to find one...
I'm wondering if anyone has a nice simple way to track which direction a character/token is facing. This is probably most easily solved by adding an arrow to the token itself, and then just rotating the token within Owlbear. But if there is a simple solution for adding that arrow to the token, I would love to hear it.
I have used TokenStamp so far to generate tokens from images easily. It's otherwise perfect but doesn't have an 'add arrow' function. I would love to find a solution that doesn't involve messing around in an image editor for every token.
EDIT: Oops, I think I answered my own question by noticing the ring in Token Stamp with a built-in arrow. Still keen to hear if anyone has other suggestions, but this is actually pretty simple. Leaving this up in case someone else searches with the same query.
I had not checked in with Owlbear Rodeo for a couple weeks and today when I pulled up some of my maps, I noticed that the Obstruction Lines are no longer blocking the vision feature on tokens. Is there a way to have all my old obstruction lines re-enabled before my session later today? I simply don't have time to go back and re-do all my work for this feature.
So I'm expanding on the 'snow globe' effect I posted up last time.
Let's start with a black circle with a red rim, 35 foot radius.
Then we make it into a Map.
Duplicate it.
Take away the interior fill of the duplicate.
Set up weather inside (Fire, in this case).
Slide it back onto the base.
Duplicate it again (being the top layer, with the weather).
Rotate the new duplicate 45 degrees (or whatever fraction of 360 you feel like).
Slide it back on, and continue the same cycle.
Rotated 90 degrees ...
All the way around to 315 degrees (or -45, as it says on the screen). Each time you rotate it, slide it back into place and then duplicate it again.
Then here's the tricky part.
Select the lot with the Lasso tool ...
And shrink it (via the corner). As you can see, the weather effect shrinks with it.
This is what it looks like, close up.
And this is what it looks like in action.

A little bit of work for a very cool effect.
Try it with other weather effects and different backgrounds.

Just one more post on native dynamic fog. I use Inkarnate to make (and borrow) all of my maps. Since I do, I map out roof composites with walls and doors. So when a character gets close enough, they can see both birdseye with awnings and birdseye with entrances. It's also cool to me to be able to fog out rooms with the roof of the area instead of an empty version of the roof.

Nothing too special, but using Phases Automated and Dynamic Fog lets you set up night/day scenes with dark buildings. I really think that the Owlbear team and of course Seamus Finlayson has put together some amazing stuff. Y'all are great!
Hello all :)
As an upcoming DM I was wondering, how good of an internet connection do you need, to run your campaign smoothly on owlbear rodeo? What would be the recommended up/download speeds?
Thanks for any help with this!
I have discovered that if you put weather on a map and then rotate the map, the weather rotates with it.
So what happens if you put a full-scale blizzard on a circular map, then duplicate it 7 times, rotate each of the 7 duplicates by 45 degrees more than the last one, then drag them to overlay on each other?
This.

Snow globe, anyone?
Good day, and thank you for this excellent tool.
I have used OB2 in the last sessions, which are held live, with me and my pc at the table with the players, and the screen for the Players aside.
While is still very good and easy to use the "invite" to create the setting I described, we are noticing that the Players have difficulties in reaching the mouse to move the map/scene so that it is centered to the action.
So my question is: there is a way to let the DM and the Players have the same visual on the screen (I mean, both screens centered on the same point of the scene), or better there is a way for the DM to interact with the screen of the players so that the are centered and focused with the point of the scene that the DM is looking at on his screen? The Players, in other words, have not to interact with the screen or the mouse, but just looking at it, telling the DM where their character move and so on. All the interactions on the screen would be made by the DM only.
Of course, meanwhile the Players must NOT see the hidden stuff the DM put on the scene... For this reason, the simplest solution (link a second monitor to the DM's PC and use "duplicate screen") is not good.
Hope I have been clear. This feature I am asking for is particulary useful on larger maps or scenes (for example dungeons where the Party is moving around)
So, I was setting up this scene, and I decided to see what would happen if I took the 'Fire' weather effect and layered it about five times.
Have a look at the video where I set it up. (Also uses the Portal extension).
(The battlemap is Impact Site, by Czepeku Maps.)
Regarding Kenku FM; is there a option for multiple local outputs currently, or plans to enable that, add it as a option?
Or maybe, additionally or instead, being able to choose the audio device that it plays audio on?
Hi all,
One of our service providers is currently experiencing an outage. This outage should only affect Scene creation, duplication and import. You can still use already created Scenes.
You can watch their outage information here:

I'll update here for any changes :)
Is there any extensions to allow City of Mist style status tracking other than just using a post-it or having to change the settings of Marked! every time a new tag is created?
I've seen mentions of it, but I can't seem to find it in Owlbear?
What am I doing wrong, please?
I'm guessing the answer is 'no', but I live in hope.
Basically, is it possible to share prepared scenes between accounts?
I have read everything in the S&S Help Menu abt how to use the elevation tools. Here is how they are described as working, and how I find they actually work.
What actually happens.
What in the world is going on?
Hey! I've seen a few posts on this issue and wondered if anyone has found a solution... Basically, when playing back audio on Kenku (locally or via discord), from any source (youtube, amazon music, local files), I hear occasional crackling sounds and the playback speed noticieably slows down every now and then.
I'm using a new gaming laptop with a decent spec (windows 11, intel i9, 16gb ram, rtx 4060, etc) that has been restarted and has pretty much else nothing. CPU load is about 5%.
Just wanted to see if there was a solution to this at all - because it's a great product apart from this playback issues :)
Would appreciate any feedback!
I had a map set up that I ran for my players last session using Smoke and Spectre and the new weather system and autofog map and everything worked fine, but when I loaded the map today every token with vision enabled no longer cuts fog at all. I tried removing and replacing all the tokens and re-enabling vision: no effect. I tried opening a new map and applying the same settings and no different. It appears as if Smoke and Spectre just no longer enables vision. Any ideas?
Edit: Had to install the new Dynamic Fog and add a light to every player to work around
On Friday I completed a 2 year campaign, I started very briefly on v1 and moved to v2 as soon as it was available and have been using it ever since. I joined the fledging teir and really enjoyed using it for all our adventures.
The best part was my players realsied they could draw on the maps, and if you can see in this image they drew a red dotted line of where they traveled and had emojis for the things that happened on the map.
It was a pleasure using your incredible app and made running my campaign much easier.
I am cancelling my subscription for now. Until I have an idea for another campaign. But will be straight back on it as soon as I do. Thank you Owlbear team. You made this new DM very happy.
Couldn't find this anywhere so I made a token base template by editing one of the default Owlbear character tokens
Hi helpful people,
I was wondering if there are any extensions that I could add to stairs to allow players to travel to different floors of a map?
Thanks in advance
