A while back I made a post asking for the ruler measurement to be readable even while zoomed far out measuring large distances. I just noticed that that is now the case. Not sure if this warrants its own post but I just wanted to put my thanks out there to the devs for implementing this feature, this is going to make my encounters significantly more smooth to run!
I see that the ability to share PDFs with the party is locked behind a patreon subscription. I've joined the linked patreon, but how do I get Owlbear Rodeo to recognize this so I can actually use this feature?
I have started using Smoke and Spectre's import feature to add obstructions. I have both the JPG maps and their corresponding universal VTT maps, so I start with the JPG and then import the corresponding vtt map which usually adds the obstructions perfectly.
On a few maps, it doesnt work. The scene crashes and I'm given the "Unable to send update: max update size exceeded" error. On a few maps, I chocked it up to the sheer size of the map, but now it has started doing it on a few of my simpler, 1600x2000 450kb maps.
Am I doing it wrong? Can anyone further explain what the error indicates?
Anyone ever pay someone on Fiverr to do the fog for them on all the set maps for a campaign?
I’m planning to run candlekeep mysteries and have all the maps from one of the patreon guys but to be honest going through and adding all the fog lines is kind of a chore.
But! The new update is awesome and does make it easier, it is still a lot to do.
I have a portable map/TV setup that I've used to use as a digital map using Photoshop for my previous D&D games. In the past, we used physical miniatures on this map. However, I'm planning on switching my group over to ShadowDark with digital tokens, and I'd really like to take advantage of using torches for lighting.
So my question is: Is it possible to use Owlbear Rodeo to have dynamic lighting where everyone plays using laptops/tablets they bring in person, but we have a shared TV that displays everyone on the map?
If so, is there place this this kind of configuration is explained?
Just recently got back into using OBR. Lat time I was using it was before it was updated to 2.0. I'm trying to find an extension to help with HP and initiative tracking. I'm planning on casting to a second screen. We play in person and are switching to it digital maps. I've got the hang of using dynamic lighting and fog. Currently we've been using a different tracker that shows players health, whose turn it is and enemy status such as bloodied, injured or dead. We use actual minis and I was planning on plotting them down on the screen. I would like to have it when I cast to a second screen, the initiative tracker and health comes over with it and the players can see it. Also I'm currently using the free membership. I plan on upgrading because I really want to start using animated maps. Will I be able to scroll, zoom and move around an animated map in OBR?
I've been fiddling with the Basic and Advanced options for Torchlight, and here's my figures for how to do a Hooded Lantern (60' normal, 60' dim light), with just a little fuzzing around the edges:
I'm trying to set up the new Temple of Elemental Evil temple, and wanted to use the elevation to show both the cover granted by the crates &c and also the pits in the floor.
For some reason, putting my test character in the floor pits is letting me see through the exterior walls instead? That can't be right...
Hey all. Trying to see if there is an option to remove the bubble shadows that appear around token names. They are taking up a significant amount of space and covering details on the map. I am just getting back into using OB and I am so lost. Any help appreciated.
I just set up the app and it seems like the exact thing I am in need of, due to YouTube's insane vendetta against music bots.
My trouble is that it doesn't seem to want to play on Discord, but seems to be fine locally.
I have tried local music as well as external music (Spotify and YouTube), and the same issue persists: The bot joins the appropriate voice channels, and doesn't seem to be playing anything. After a full reset of the bot, including giving it the voice and audio permissions, turning off and on (both bot and PC), uninstalling and reinstalling, the same problem persists.
I know that the bot is set to the correct permissions as guided by the handy tutorial, the bot is not muted, discord audio works, it has appropriate volumes and specific Discord permissions.
I have also gone through a previous post regarding help with this specific issue, and it has not helped
I would love some troubleshooting tips if possible to get this up and running as intended.
Long story short, I'm trying to make two characters move together (for example, if one of them is moved 5ft upwards, the other one does the same). I thought attaching them together (by going to the context menu of one of them, clicking on the three dots, then on attach, then clicking on the other token) would make it so that they moved in unison, but this doesn't happen. I messed around for a bit and found the constraints button, and made it so that the character inhereted everyting from its parent, including position. However, when I move either of them, the other one does not move at all.
Can anyone help me make my characters move as one please? Even if it's by another means, I don't mind.

I'm going to be running a DnD Twitch stream here shortly, and two issues I'm running into are:
I included the scenes I'm using.
HI! Just a quick ramble before the question. Im new to D&D and DMing. A small group of me and 2 other friends want to play. So im pretty excited to try. I am familiar with how it plays and all ao finding OBR is great for me wanting to run my game.
Now to the question. I saw about a week ago on the OBR youtube channel something about their new dynamic fog. I have been fooling around with it and have come across stuff that i have no idea how to solve
PC moving from a lighted area to foggy area
I tried to do the dynamic setup but I am unsure on how to set it. I have seen some successes online so I'm definitely doing something wrong, and since this is very new there are not many tutorials online too. Is a step by step beginning for dynamic fog and fog set ups?
The recent update to 2.3 seems to have changed the way that shapes align with the grid. This has been a solid improvement, as before I would have to do some finicky problem solving to get them to align properly while moving them.
But, the varieties of shapes shown in the image refuse to properly align with the grid after their creation, not matter how much fiddling I do. Any 3xN (N being any number greater than three) hex shapes with inwardly indented and/or diagonal sides in any orientation are permanently misaligned while moving them.
I'm not sure what could be causing this problem or how to fix it.
Does anyone that’s casts to a TV normally have really clear images in their scene? Looks fine on the laptop but the cast to a 40in TV really loses some of the quality.
Wondering if the limitation is my TV or maybe it be more clear over HDMI.
Wanted to ask if there is any way for more than one person to be able to control the same Kenku FM bot on a discord server. Doesn't have to be at the same time. So long as it is on their own PC.
Reason being we have 2 games ran by 2 DMs in one server and while I am one of them and added the bot to the server I want my fellow DM to also be able to control it when they DM if possible.
Love the extension, but how do I disable the pop up from displaying every time I load into OBR? And for my players for that matter in my scene.
I add songs to my various playlist folders fairly regularly, and as far as I'm aware the only good ways to update them in Kenku FM are to either add the new files manually, or by deleting the entire playlist and re-adding it.
Is there a way to have Kenku FM automatically detect new files in a folder or some other way to automatically add new files from my folder into my playlists?
Right, after i finished making a dungeon with the fog i went to add light sources, and each one i add makes the map slower, when i add 4 light sources it takes about 3 seconds to move a token, i allready changed the mode to high performance but it changes little, do you guys know of a way to decrease the burden on my pc?
Hello!
I was playing in a campaign tonight and after having unrelated technical issues on my PC, I switched to my chromebook. Which worked fine, apart from being able to see through walls. My DM and I both don't know why this happened. He tried removing my character's darkvision, removing the light sources, everything we could think of. I also tried signing in and out and refreshing the page, and neither worked. I'm the only one in our party that this is happening to. The space I could see didn't move with my character, but it did with others, as if the other characters were light sources somehow?? I've included pictures below. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it?
Edit: Chromebooks use a form of linux that's why this is happening
I need maps. There are thousands of battle maps out there, but resizing them to line up the grids is insanely time-consuming and frustrating. The only ones I'm interested in using anymore are the ones with their size in the name so that Owlbear Rodeo does its thing automatically. Does anyone have a lead on where I can find a lot of those? Particularly dungeon or underdark maps?
Thank you.
All my saved maps, scenes, tokens, everything except certain PC tokens are just gone. Any idea where they went or how to get them back?
I've found a great site for creating character tokens, with options for framing:
https://rolladvantage.com/tokenstamp/
Very easy to use, produces amazing character tokens from whatever image you started with.
and I've got to say, it's so fucking good! I really like that it commits to being one thing: a place to put images onto. On top of it you can add extensions, but there's nothing like that at first. It results in a really optimized experience. No bloat, nothing that works like half the time, very few technical issues, an extremely smooth UI/UX. I also really like the key binds. My players all said good things about it too. This is my first campaign and I'm very happy that I found this.
Something that I did which I thought was fun is adding a town map and moving along an icon so the players always knew where they were in relation to things, kind of like a minimap. Do you guys have any fun tricks?
