Wear OS vs Garmin vs Coros vs Suunto vs etc.

I'm in the market for a new smart watch / fitness tracker.

The price range goes from $100, and up to $2000.

My budget is around $200-300, I could push for $350 if it's really worth the extra.

I've used Samsung Galaxy Watch Active in the last, which was one of my favorite, but the battery sucks. I need to charge everyday. If I forget to charge one day, I either end up not using the watch all day or I won't have something to track my steps and sleep.

I'm currently using Mi Band 9.

I want something bigger, so I could look at the date and time clearly. I need it to have vibrations for alarm, and certain notifications as my phone is on silent mode 100% of the time, due to work and kids at home sleep when I'm home.

I know Wear OS has a lot more flexibility in terms of applications. Other than that? What are the pros and cons of other platforms' software?

What can I get for around my budget that does a good tracking of my sleep, steps, and notifications?

Does the Galaxy Watch 7 Provide Real Biofeedback?

I'm thinking of buying the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7, but I have two important questions before deciding:

1️⃣ How waterproof is it really? Samsung advertises water resistance, but can it handle swimming or long exposure to water without issues?

2️⃣ Does it show real-time HRV for stress tracking? I know it measures stress, probably based on HRV (heart rate variability). But can I actually see HRV live on the screen? For example, if it tells me I’m stressed, can I do a breathing exercise and immediately see the impact, like biofeedback?

Need recommendation GT5 pro / Venu 3 / Apple S10

Hi, I need help deciding between these few watches (GT5 Pro / Venu 3 / Apple S10). I'm an iPhone user, wearing Apple Watch Series 3, and a stressed out office worker often having trouble sleeping. I'm looking for:

  1. Health oriented, not necessary fitness. such as sleep tracking, stress levels, body battery, but unsure how good between these 3 watches.
  2. Toddler-resistant / scratch-resist. I have a 1 y/o who just learned to grab and throw stuff. Also I'm somewhat clumsy. I've only heard of sapphire glass, not sure about other materials.
  3. Sucker for mechanical watches / skeletal / see-through. One of the reasons I'm leaning towards GT5 pro classic and away from Apple watch. But might change my mind if the HuaWei watch face catalog looks bad / unrealistic.
  4. Comfort, since I plan to wear it while sleeping. Which strap will be more suitable? I haven't decided on the size and weight yet, but will go into retail stores to confirm. And of course battery life to last overnight (sorry Apple).
  5. (low priority) Seamless connection to iPhone, especially notifications of different apps. I come from Apple Watch S3, so I'm not sure how good the non-Apple watches are with my iPhone.
  6. Other fun and useful features, such as contactless payment (apple pay?), able to function even if I'm far away from my phone, or helps me when my daughter decides to hide my phone.

I'm also willing to increase my budget to GT5 ultimate / Fenix 7/8 / Apple Ultra if there's great functionality, but mostly will stick to the cheaper variations plus multiple straps. Feel free to recommend other watches if you see fit, these are just a few that can be found easily in malls. Thank you!

Looking for a Smart Watch to use at work

Not sure if I'm in the right sub, if not please send me towards the right path.

Im looking for a Smart Watch I can use at work. I'm an electrician so a cheap $60-$100 smart watch is fine. Nothing fancy, just something that shows my phone notifications, checks my steps, messages, time, weather & maybe let's me control my music.

I currently have an s24 Ultra.. I will clarify that I have the Galaxy ultra watch but I treat all my electronics like babies. I keep them safe & pristine.

This is why I'd like to buy a second watch knowing it'll be prone to scuffs & scratches. Thanks

Looking for a new watch...strange question

Ive got very thin wrists, i like a watch strap to have a solid curve to it rather than being on a hinged pin as it looks silly on my wrist where as the one that have that curve look alot better on my wrist.

Im looking for a watch for around £300, do these straps have a name or something? Im wondering if i can buy and add to any watch

There are a few watches i like but with a 45mm+ screen without this solid type strap they look silly.

Kids smartwatch step glitch

Probably device specific but my daughter has a TickTalk 5 (geared for kids). Her daily steps will be like 30,000 or other insane numbers. I put her daily goal at 10K and get alerted by 10 AM she’s hit goal.

She most definitely does not get that many steps. It’s a minor probably but she kinda sucks at reasonableness anyways and this stuff doesn’t help. Is there something you can do to mitigate this?

Looking for a watch I came across TT

It is a smart watch but its just half the screen and it's also analog, like a hybrid watch. It's also solar powered and not touch screen.

I've checked Casio, Garmin, Citizen, Tissot, Withings, and they're not it.

Smartwatch similar to the Amazfit GTS 2 mini - help?

Hi! My Amazfit GTS 2 mini sadly died (it's in a reboot loop) after I took it swimming for the first time in months. Maybe having it in the wet bag for hours afterwards didn't help.

I really liked how small and lightweight it is, so I wanted to replace it with something similar. It's really important to me that it's small, lightweight, and has swimming tracking. Hopefully it would also be similarly priced and track heart rate while swimming.

I wanted to get the GTS 4 mini but it seems to be discontinued. I've been looking at options but I really can't figure out the sizes. I have a really small wrist (14 cm) so the size is kinda important.

Thank you so much in advance.

Help please HRM Monitor

I'm looking for a smartwatch or wearable or something that does the below. Originally i thought most models would do it as it seems fairly basic but boy was i wrong.

Criteria
- Monitors heart rate 24/7, Not super fussed on the resolution of this but preferably at least 1 minute increments.
- Heart rate during activities. 1 second resolution on data.
- Able to all data by myself (No requests, emails etc)
- Sleep monitoring etc (optional)

Any suggestions on what a good device to do the above would be as I have yet to find any that will actually do all of the above.

Not looking to get a fully fledged smartwatch as purely looking to monitor heart rate. Most of what i have seen focuses on the Fitbit and Garmin devices. Fitbit however from my reading requires me to send in a request everytime i want. Garmin doesn't but then it doesn't have an easy way of export the 24/7 data only the activity data.

Fitness watch

Hi I’m looking for a fitness watch with a max budget of $300 give or take.

I mainly go to the gym and do strength training but would like to start running. I would also like the watch to be useful for swimming (not massively important tho)

Other features I would like: Sleep tracking Aesthetically clean (all black etc) Circular watch face I use Apple iPhone so somewhat compatible with that!

Thanks, open to hear any suggestions!

Smartwatch for my tween/teen - need alarm labels

Would love some help with smartwatch choices for my 12 yr old child. They need support with executive function, so a smartwatch that allows alarms to be labelled would be great.

More info:

  • will be using an iPhone 12 mini
  • we’re in Australia
  • need long battery life as they constantly forget to charge my old Fitbit (needs charging every 2-3 days)

Thinking of a refurbished Samsung Galaxy 6, but open to other recommendations. Thank you!

Edited to add: battery life for the Galaxy 6 looks like less than 2 days… perhaps the Tozo S6 watch might be an option?

Fitness/step counter app games?

So I have been trying to see if there is an app that would be a step counter but kind of gamifys it. Like digimon or tamagotchi where steps are treated as training or something along those lines, hopefully that makes sense. Preferably Android also.

What watch/ring to buy?

I want to track my periods and stress levels using a smart watch or ring. But I am overwhelmed with the options! What devices have worked best for doing these things for y’all? I don’t really want text messages popping up on a smart watch or anything that will distract me even more than my phone does. I do want something that isn’t bulky as well. I like the idea of the Oura ring but it’s soo pricey and the yearly subscription on top of the mega price is a little off putting. Anyone use any other rings aside from the Oura ring that you like?? Thanks!! 😊

Smart watches to monitor heart rate?

Idk if this is the right place to ask sorry in advance!!

I've recently been looking into getting a smart watch to monitor and record my heart rate. I've been looking around online and stuff but everywhere has very different opinions about each watch, some say this one is good while others say it sucks. Just wondering if anyone has any personal recommendations? TIA!!

Smartwatch to tablet recommendations/advice

Currently running Galaxy Watch 6 lte with S24 Ultra lte. Have tablet s9 ultra but want to skip the phone- I.e. run Signal on tablet but since both have cell plans, would still like to get notifications on watch if possible, is this possible? If Samsung can't do this, any recommendations on a watch that can run full Android ecosystem standalone? Ideally powerful enough to run Android auto too. Over wasting time with smartphones but still want to be connected to family via signal on watch. Thanks in advance.

Help finding a watch that looks like this

I remember seeing a display piece a few years ago that looked almost exactly like this watch. Now that I have more stable income, I wanted to see about buying one, even if it's outdated. I can't seem to find it online at all. The colour scheme should be almost identical, but without the watch face of course. Any help is appreciated!

We may finally see a Pebble OS comeback.

https://opensource.googleblog.com/2025/01/see-code-that-powered-pebble-smartwatches.html?m=1

I hope this means there will be options for those of us who think AMOLED with no physical buttons is the dumbest thing ever.

Smartwatch w/ Home assistant integration

Hey all,

I'm looking for a smart watch that has the ability to track sleep information as well as can integrate controls for home assistant. I'm trying to stick under $150 for it. I'd also like nfc controls but it's not necessary. Thanks!

LED notifications for calls/texts etc?

I miss the notification LED on my old samsung galaxies (the phones, not watches). I have tried the rabbithole of programs that do the same thing, but they drain my battery too much. I've been looking for a watch that has a dedicated LED to let me know at a glance (without picking up the phone) that I have a new notification. I do not care AT ALL about fitness tracking or time or anything.

So far, the fitbit flex 2 looks like what i want, but it has terrible reviews about working right. Below is everything I've found that seems relevant. Does anyone have any experiences with them or any suggestions I'm missing that might fit the description?

What I've found so far: old reddit thread

looks perfect, but abysmal reviews

fitbit flex 2 official

fitbit flex 2 refurb - bad reviews

aliexpress knockoff - looks the same but i'd be out less if it sucks

would be fine if it had a single LED notification

would also be fine with a single LED

if it was programmable for notifications, doesn't seem to be the case

Thanks!

Any good privacy-focused smartwatch recommendations?

I currently have the Apple Watch Ultra 2 w/ GPS— I like a watch that is versatile & durable for the outdoors.

However, I definitely have privacy concerns, and I’m trying to figure out what the best alternative is.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a watch that is still versatile & durable, but doesn’t come with a microphone and/or can’t be tracked?
