New to the city, looking for a good barber. Anywhere from North Park to Cardiff. Ideally someone/somewhere quick, consistent, and reasonably priced. Thanks in advance.
I have Verizon and live in Point Loma. I feel like I rarely have good service, sometimes can’t make calls in my house, don’t have ability to do a hot spot, etc. When I go camping near SD, I never have service, meanwhile my AT&T always do. The AT&T plan is $10 more a month than Verizon. Just trying to figure out if it’s worth it?
Christmas speakeasy?
Does anyone know what’s going on in University City? Just east of the mall there are about a dozen police cars canine units a helicopter the whole shebang.
I understand that the Dem party is out of touch, and failed to recognize the daily realities/struggles of the working class—a majority of people are living paycheck to paycheck, have no savings, and are facing exponentially increasing housing costs, without comparable wage growth. And all the while, Dems touted that the “economy was doing well.”
But then why did Californians vote against Prop 32, which would have increased the minimum wage from $16 to $18 AND vote against Prop 33, which would have given local governments the ability to enact rent control?
California has one of the highest costs of living and highest rent costs in the nation. About 45% of people in the state are renters. Why did voters reject these helpful solutions??
Anyone know what’s being fished right off the shore in PB? I’ve never seen a large fishing boat this close to the sand.
I’ve seen a ton of articles saying that it should be up and running by September but no information on whether or not that happened. Am I just googling poorly?
Hello,
I am from the east coast. Bread is a coveted commodity amongst these folk. In my travels to the beautiful area of San Diego, I have noticed something strange. Either there is a bread shortage or San Diego folk just don’t care about quality rolls.
Please do not say Jersey mikes lol. It scratches the itch but I’m in search for a quality Deli/sandwich shop.
Where can an east coast bread lovin' mfer get a quality sub/hoagie out here?
Trying to make new friends c:
Hi!
Trying to get my life together after a breakup and would like to meet new friends. I'm an introvert and don't really like putting myself out there but I think it would be a nice change. I'm 25F, in case I needed to say that.
I do have some friends here and there but our work schedules don't really match so it's hard to meet more than once a month. I have a full time job from M-F, but I'm usually free after 3pm on weekdays. I do tend to have weekends open but I do like planning ahead of time.
I LOVE cats, I make dumb jokes, I cry easily, I like the gamble of a claw machine at an arcade, I love getting dessert after a meal, I get scared of meeting new people, I love cute things... If we click and get along, I do hope to make some meaningful friendships.
Some of my interests, in no particular order, include...
Anime (Digimon, Sakura Card Captor, Dragon Ball, One Piece, Mermaid Melody, Kamikaze Kaitou Jean, JJK, Attack on Titan, Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist, Ouran Host Club, Kimi Ni Todoke, Made In the Abyss, Detective Conan, Shugo Chara, Inuyasha, Haikyuu, Yuri on Ice... The list goes on)
Food! I love cooking for my family and trying new foods. It has always been a way for me to connect with people. Some foods I enjoy making at home include, pasta, pizza, roasts, Kbbq, burger, wings, japanese curry, mapo tofu, vegetable stir fry...
Coffee and Tea. Although I'm not a pro, I do enjoy my morning cup of coffee! I have a small coffee station at home where I can hand grind beans and make espresso shots. My current favorite tea is the Fresh Lemon Black Tea from Feng Cha.
Working out. I find that being able to exercise at the gym has helped a lot with my mental health and even if we can be gym buddies, I do enjoy going on long walks at Miramar Lake or at a park.
Hanging out and talking. Now that it's colder and gets much darker faster, I try to soak up some sun in the mornings to help my seasonal depression. I have a picnic blanket I could bring, we could sit under the sun and just yap away at whatever. Drinks and snacks would definitely make the experience more fun.
Gaming. I'm not particularly great but I recently got back into Harvest Moon, Friends of Mineral Town on the Switch. It's what's been keeping me from going crazy at home.
If you've gotten this far, I appreciate you reading this post. Please send me a dm and I would love to connect.
I’m on a sidewalk in North Park and there are three separate tattoo shops in line of sight. Genuinely curious—if you own or work in a tattoo shop, how do the economics work?
I know a lot of people have tattoos (I have one I got 15 years ago), but from just walking around it doesn’t seem there’s enough inked skin in San Diego to support THIS MANY tattoo shops.
Staying in San Diego in a few weeks in gaslamp quarter near Market and 7th. I heard this area is full of homeless folks, which I didn’t realize before booking my hotel. I need to walk to the convention center. Is it safe to walk in the daytime? What parts should I avoid?
I cannot believe this is actually how HB once looked.
I live in La Mesa and I’m looking for a good place to buy quality cigars. Any recommendations?
Hey there, Im a single female in her 40’s. I recently moved to a condo in BankersHill. I’m from N.County. I don’t know anyone in the city. I’m on a quest to explore Balboa Park and my neighborhood. Looking to meet others for casual walks in the park. I’m not looking for romance or hook ups, just friends that want to get fresh air and explore Balboa Park. Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful day.
Hi, my daughter is aging our of our health insurance soon and as a full time student will fall into Medi-Cal. It's really hard to understand how this works. She has some ongoing medical issues, in particular mental-health, and I am unclear which will be the best of the 4 options to get her a therapist and to offer decent coverage for womens health and urgent care.
It's a confusing mess, thanks for the help.
I am traveling out of San Diego tomorrow, and while I was visiting, I went to a dispensary and got pre-rolls. They are in a sealed glass container and emit no smell. I also have popcorn edibles and hot chocolate ones. If I put all of this in my carry on, can I get it through San Diego airport security without having to throw it away or getting arrested??
My boyfriend is a huge zoo-goer. We go to our local zoo all the time and I want to get something special for Christmas. I'm looking into the "experiences" for a Christmas gift. Im trying to decided between the "Elite Adventure" for aprox $425 or the "Exclusive VIP Experience" for approx $710. Has anyone done either or both? Was the VIP experience worth the price point? Greatly appreciate any insight about either!
Specifically referring to the stretch between Camino Santa Fe and the 805.
To preface, I’m a mixed race Latino who voted for Trump. Yes, I’m educated and a citizen (not that it would matter to you liberals who seem to think we’re all illegal and need YOUR help)
What is with everyone trying so hard to be a victim? All I see is how “scared” everyone is, what do you think is going to happen? You people that say he is going to use the military to “get” you and snuff his opponents truly live chronically online. The military are people too in case you forgot and a large part of it is, you guessed it, minorities. You are ignorant and the fact that you come on here and spread hysteria is crazy. He is going to ban abortion? Well, it is already up to the state and I do not think Gavin Newsom will be banning it anytime soon.
As for the racism, I have never seen such outright and blatant racism for Latinos ever. I love Malcolm Xs quote “…the white liberal is the one who was perfected the art of posing as the Negro’s friend and benefactor.” This could not be more true, you white liberals are truly the most disgusting group of people I have interacted with and seen on Reddit and in real life. You say you do not care if we get “deported”, how would I get deported? If I voted for him I must be a citizen right? Or do you think all Latinos are just illegal moochers on society? My black friends have been called Uncle Toms and “traitors” to their race by who? White liberals. You guys seem dumbfounded by who we voted for but prove it in the very same sentence. We don’t want a WHITE SAVIOR, you fight so much against “Nazis” you have become one yourself. You view us minorities as dumb ignorant animals who truly cannot think for or defend ourselves and only voted for Trump because we are racist and sexist. This does not only go for white liberals, all races of liberals are doing it, but the whites seem to have such a superiority complex.
Party of love? Guess not. Might want to do some soul searching if you want a chance at the next election.
A group of parents have kids going from a small private middle school to high school next year. The goal is a smaller high school with social health as the focus. Public private or charter. I personally don't care about academics as long as they are supported, happy and safe. Any suggestions? Excuse the heading typo, I do care about basic spelling lol.
Busted
There aren’t any tags that fit what I’m asking, but I this is the back story. I bought a bracelet when I went to Thailand earlier this year. It’s a woven leather bracelet that uses a koi fish made of sterling silver as a clasp. Unfortunately, it broke when I had some family friends over, their youngest child started playing with me and then started pulling on the bracelet. I asked him to stop, but he kept pulling until the metal the fish clasps onto came off but I didn't notice it until they left. Now it doesn’t close as the piece the fish closes on came off and now it looks like just a small piece of leather rope and with a fish on one side and the other end is missing the metal.
My family friends said it was just an accident and said it was okay once I told them about it. They haven’t offered to cover anything or asked if I had repaired it yet. All I want is for them to cover the repair cost. I’ve been looking for places to repair it, but they all say a leathersmith is required to fix the latch on the end. However, I haven’t been able to find a place with a leathersmith.
To describe the bracelet in better detail: the band is brown woven leather, with one end having the koi fish and the other end is rope where there used to be the piece where the koi fish clasps down onto the latch.
Right now I'm currently in bed typing this so I don't have the bracelet at hand but once I do I'll take some pictures of it and add them here
Anyone ever seen this happen or have any information/resources? I didn’t see anything about it as a location on the city parks website.
Anybody going tomorrow?
