Need some jeans taken in

I’m in La Mesa and I have some jeans I need taken in. Where do the ladies take their jeans for alterations when they’ve (humble brag) lost some weight?

Carlsbad? What’s the vibe? Moving from OC…

Husband is a Firefighter for a city in San Diego County. He is currently commuting from Huntington Beach/Costa Mesa area and it’s ALOT! (Not to mention what we spend on gas each month.)

We are considering a 3 bed townhome in Carlsbad. What’s the vibe in Carlsbad? Are there a lot of young families? Things to do? His commute would be 30 minutes instead of 1 hour 30 minutes. I would need to find a new job as an esthetician doing facials.

We have also considered a single family home in Temecula as I would have my mom and sister for childcare and we could get a house with a yard instead of a townhome. I just can’t imagine being so far from the beach. 😞

Rent increase after appln submitted & approved, they had a “typo” in the original listing & now are asking accept new rent/lose the aptmnt

[CA]

Hello all need advice/tips here. Location: Mira Mesa San Diego Apartment Community: Casa Mira View

Heres what happened timeline wise 25 Jan: Visited the community, leasing office, checked out apartments, Liked the aptmnt, discussed all details, pricing, discounts AND put in application by 1 person for apartment hold and awaiting approval.

As guided by the leasing agent, 2nd person applies through the link they send after approval for person 1.

26 Jan: Credit pulled and approved, person 1 recvd few emails

27 Jan: Person 1 went in, discussed the remaining details and got the application link for person 2, he also applied, credit pulled and approved. Recvd application submitted email.

30 Jan: 2pm - Recvd - Rental deposit esign form. Person 1 signed and submitted.

4.30pm - recvd a direct email from leasing agent, stating “I apologize, but it looks like the market rent was listed incorrectly which led us to resending the rental deposit receipt to reflect the accurate pricing.”

Person 2- didnt know about 2nd email, but completed signing the rental deposit form which finalizes the initial decided upon value by 5 pm. SO WE DO HAVE THE RENTAL AGREEMENT SIGNED BY BOTH OF US.

Problem:

  1. The new price is 100$ per month more. So thats 1200$ increase overall.
  2. I think they operated in bad faith, waiting until end moment, after the approval to increase the prices.
  3. They have asked us to either accept the new rent or cancel the application as the only solution.
  4. I dont think they would have reached out if the rent was upmarked vs the actual market value was lower, i.e. give us money back into our pockets.

Good for us:

  1. We have the initial rental agreement signed and downloaded based on the first rental value (pre increase)

Question:

  1. Do we have any leverage/benefit to negotiate against the price increase
  2. How can we proceed in this situation?

I dont like this, but the apartment is very nice.

Looking forward for your tips. Thanks in advance!!

Visiting San Diego

My husband and I will be visiting San Diego and we can’t decide on renting a car vs uber/lyft. Also would it be better to stay at a hotel next to the airport or in the city? I love museums, parks and anything outdoors as well as photography. As far as food options what are your favorite restaurants? 🙂

Maybe moving to San Diego area

My wife and I are potentially moving from LA county to SD for in March. We have two dogs that enjoy being outside and walks, but we prefer being closer to walkable activities i.e. restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, etc. I’m going to be working(potentially) in La Jolla, but that’s too expensive for us. Hoping to spend around $3100-3500 for rent. In a nutshell, what are recommended areas that are safe, sort of nature driven, but also close to close to urban amenities while staying close to our budget? Is there anything that would come close to offering all this in SD, or am I asking for too much? Any suggestions are appreciated

Visiting Mid March

hey all, Midwest Fam visiting mid March as the beginning of our spring break trip before ending at Disneyland.

Would love some input on things to do with two kids. We are already planning on a zoo day & possibly the USS Midway as well. We have about four solid days in San Diego before taking the train up to Anaheim.

We are currently booked at the Catamaran, but not married to if it there is another place that would be better for kids in that area.

One of our kids is obsessed with San Diego Wave, we were hoping our luck they'd play in San Diego when we are there, but they are not!

Thanks!

Hey Reddit community, we need your help! Our beloved, community-focused yarn shop is looking for a new home, and we’re hoping someone out there knows of the perfect spot. Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Minimum 800 square feet of space
  • Rent of $2700/month or less
  • High visibility and foot traffic
  • A welcoming, cozy vibe that suits our shop
  • Parking is preferred (our customers appreciate the convenience!)
  • Preferred locations: Staying in Pacific Beach (ideally closer to the freeway), UTC area, or Clairemont. We are not looking to move further south than Pacific Beach.

We’ve been a part of the community for years, creating a space where fiber lovers can connect, learn, and grow, and we’re determined to continue this tradition in a new location.

If you have any leads or know of a space that might work, please comment or DM us! We’d love to hear from you. Thanks so much for your help in keeping our yarn shop thriving! ❤️🧶

SWC Dental Hygiene FREE Dental Cleaning

Hi, r/asksandiego! Dental hygiene student here to spread the word about my school's FREE clinic at our National City campus! I am looking for patients who are due for a teeth cleaning. All ages (5 years old and up) can be screened for a cleaning. There are more than 10 spots to fill, come on down !! Or if someone you know may be interested, spread the word :)

ALL treatment provided is free (no insurance needed) and supervised by registered dental hygienists and dentists!

Services offered:

  • standard cleaning
  • deep cleaning
  • dental x-rays
  • oral cancer screenings
  • sealants
  • fluoride
  • temporary restorations
  • nitrous oxide (AKA laughing gas) sedation

Patients will first come in for a screening appointment that is 1-1.5 hours long where we will go over your medical/dental history and take any x-rays that the dentist prescribes. Once approved as a patient, I will be able to schedule you for your cleaning. Cleaning appointments are 3 hours and 15 minutes long and how many appointments you will need depends on how much tartar and plaque build up you have. I will let you know about how many appointments your cleaning will take at your screening appointment, but it ranges from 1-3 visits.

Keep in mind that this cleaning will be much more in depth than what you are typically used to in a dental office, and everything needs to be checked off by my instructors. I will greatly appreciate your time and patience 😊

Please fill out this form if you are interested:

I look forward to cleaning your teeth, Thanks for your time!

Dog Beach Recommendations

Hi all,

My 9 yr old soul dog is terminally ill and I’m planning one last beach trip for him. It’s always been his favorite place.

I’m aware of the usual spots, but I was hoping to get some recommendations for a not-so-busy dog friendly beach and/or times where it won’t be as packed.

His meds make him a bit grouchy, so the less busy the better. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated 🥺

First time visitor- La Jolla vs La Mesa vs Mission Hills

My sister and I are thinking about visiting for the first time in March for 4-5 days. We orginally wanted to stay near Mission Bay and hopefully rely on using Uber/Lyft instead of renting a car. But a lot of the mission bay hotels we were looking at were either pricey or seem outdated.

So now we are considering renting a car and either getting a hotel in La Jolla or getting an airbnb. Alot of the airbnbs we liked were located in either La Mesa, Mission Hills or Point Loma. Are these all good locations for an airbnb? Budget wise we were hoping to stay near $250/n including parking, taxes and fees). We are also open to other suggestions on where to stay.

For activities, we are pretty flexible but wanted to see the Sunset cliffs, Mission Beach, Balboa Park and Gaslamp quarters.

Also with the current wildfires, is there any reason to be concerned with visiting in March?

Any advice will be appreciated!

Mission Bay vs Bahia?

Hello! My family, that will include a 1.5 year old, will be visiting early June for a few days. After browsing the internet and Reddit forums, I’ve narrowed down our hotel choices between Mission Bay and Bahia. For our dates, they’re very similar in cost, so I was wondering if anyone had a preference for one or the other?

FWIW, we plan to spend time at the beach and zoo for sure. The rest of our time we will just go with the flow, but any other recommendations are welcome! ◡̈

Artificial Turf Installation

My wife and I decided to go with fake grass in our front lawn to save on maintenance. Has anyone here worked with a trusted contractor that can help us?

Edit: I got 3 quotes and decided to go with Green Turf Pro! They seemed like the best option as I got to speak with the owner instead of sales agents. Will post the before and after in about a week or so! They quoted me $6.80/sqft.
