Small boat parking needed

Good afternoon everyone My apartment complex recently changed their rules and I have to find a new place to park my boat

It is a small aluminum boat (14’) with a trailer I use it at the Potomac and love taking it out on Riley’s lock

If anyone had any room for me to park it (I would compensate obviously) I would really appreciate it! Would be more than happy to allow you to use it if you happen to be a boater.

Appreciate it feel free to message me. I will delete this post if I find a spot

Register today for Contemporary Conversations: Storytelling with Mwalim “DaPhunkee Professor”, a free event with food, happening Thursday, November 14 from 6-8pm at Rockville Memorial Library

REGISTER HERE: https://mcpl.events/mwalim

To celebrate Native American Heritage Month, join us for an insightful musical storytelling presentation by Mwalim "DaPhunkee Professor" that explores the cross pollinations of African and First Nations people that are at the core of American culture.

Born Morgan James Peters, Mwalim "DaPhunkee Professor," is a celebrated artist, educator, and scholar known for his mastery of the oral tradition. His diverse body of work spans music, literature, theater, film, and multimedia installations, earning him acclaim as a multi-award-winning composer, musician, playwright, and educator. Mwalim's storytelling brilliance is rooted in his West Indian/Bajan (Barbados) and Mashpee Wampanoag heritage.

A nationally recognized Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Educator/Lecturer, Mwalim is a founding member of his tribe’s Educational Department and is a trained Parent’s Advocate in Special Education and was appointed to the advisory board for Special Education of the Bureau of Indian Education by the Secretary of the Interior in 2011. He is also one of the only living authorities on the ‘Ahaneenun’ (sacred clown) tradition of the Wampanoag people.

Raised in both Bronx, NY, and Mashpee, MA, he is a mixed-genre artist performing soul, nu jazz, afro house, and funk, and is considered the 'Godfather of Southcoast Thump & Soul.' Mwalim entered the music industry in the mid-1980s and gained international recognition with his single "Her Groove" and subsequent releases. He has performed with notable artists like The Four Tops and Dizzy Gillespie, and won numerous awards, including multiple New England Urban Music Awards and a Silver Arrow Award. As a member of The GroovaLottos, he’s received six Grammy nominations. An accomplished playwright and novelist, his first novel "LAND of the BLACK SQUIRRELS" was published in 2020.

As an educator, Mwalim has over 30 years of experience teaching theater, language arts, and music to students of all ages. His teaching venues have included schools, community centers, colleges, festivals, and even street corners, illustrating his dedication to bringing the arts to diverse audiences. His academic career is distinguished by his role as a tenured Associate Professor of English and Black Studies at UMass Dartmouth, where he has also served as Director of Black Studies.

Registration required.

Apartments near Congressional Plaza

I'm relocating to the Rockville area for work and was looking at possible moving into a complex near congressional plaza. Specifically, the Residences at Congressional Village. But I looked at the reviews and it had me hesitating to lease there. Has anyone had any experience living in that complex or in the area?

Who else saw this in the morning?

Was leaving for work and saw these two orbs flying across the sky. The video doesn’t do it any justice and really wish I had gotten a better recording. Wanted to know if anyone else saw this. In the vid it’s a large orb with a smaller one right behind it.

Pike & rose and nearby apartment complexes

So I’m doing a lot of research on Rockville/bethesda apartments and I see there are several complexes in the pike and rose area. If you live in any apartments in that area please share your experience and what you would recommend versus not.

I noticed there were several complaints about increases in crime due to a nearby homeless shelter? If this is true that is enough to make me avoid renting there. Please speak to this if you know about it.

Guinness Draught 8 Pack

Greetings,

I am a Guinness beer snob now. I was only able to find 8 packs in DC/VA. What store has 8 packs? Every dollar saved counts. It hurts to buy two 4 packs. Lol.

Allergen Transparency in Restaurant Menus

32 Million Americans live with food allergies1 in 13 children face the same challenge every day. Every 3 minutes, someone ends up in the emergency room due to a food allergy reaction. These are real facts. Hidden allergens can be life-threatening!

I'm Andrei, a Montgomery County high schooler and I'm fighting for allergen transparency in restaurant menus. Please join me by signing the petitionhttps://www.change.org/AllergenDisclosure In case you wonder what this initiative is about please check the menu item that's attached here. The picture attached is from one of the few restaurants in the DC area that provides clear allergen information for customers with food allergies.

Thank you!

Seeking unusual space to rent

Hi - I’m new to the area and would like to find a large open space to use as an office (remote work) and art studio. It doesn’t need to be fancy at all, just open with a lot of natural light. Between 400 and 800 ft2 would be perfect. Trying to think outside the box here- anyone have an unused garage, outbuilding, or attic they aren’t using and want some extra monthly income? I’m 57F, a scientist, quiet. Thanks!

How do you find events in Rockville?

I have a friend moving to the area and wanted to help her out with listservs of Rockville events etc. She's mid 30s. I usually recommend 730 DC to anyone who's new to DC, but that is pretty much exclusively DC events. So I'd be grateful for any Rockville specific round ups of events. Thanks.

Housing Programs

Looking to see if people have any information on any housing/down payment assistance programs within the state or county. I will not be a first-time homebuyer which I know is a stipulation of a lot programs. I am a teacher with MCPS if that helps. Just looking to see if there are any programs out there to help with a little down payment assistance.

Yard work recommendations

I need someone to help with yard work (pulling weed, trimming and cleaning generally) for two-three hours each time, 3-4 times a year. It's a small sized home/plot in Twinbrook area. Would anyone please recommend someone that could do it regularly? Thanks
