Lakeforest Mall and its effects on neighboring real estates

I feel like our home values, especially neighboring communities, have plummeted significantly once the Lakeforest Mall was closed, and turned into a slumped/abandoned eyesore. Now that redevelopment is in the talk, what positives can we expect as far as real estate values?

Luxury apartment recommendations?

Hi all,

I am looking to move to Gaithersburg into a newer apartment building (2 bed/2 bath). I have a budget of $4000/month, however, willing to go higher for the right place. Any suggestions?

Edit: I am also looking at places in Bethesda/Chevy Chase, the reason why Gaithersburg is at top of mind is because it seemed like a cheaper alternative to Bethesda/Chevy Chase/DC.

The way to join a developer's club or friends here

I will be moving to Gaithersburg next January, and I have already graduated. I want to find an offline community club where I can study with others. Is there any good way to find one? Thank you :D

Travel to DC?

I’m coming to Gaithersburg next week for work and am wanting to take a day to visit DC for the first time. Is it better to rent a car, take Uber?

I think there is a train station 10 min from my hotel but it’s difficult to see the route, costs, frequency & how late it runs. If anyone has any info on that I would appreciate it.

Probably looking to walk a good 7-9 miles overall…. Lincoln memorial to Capitol Hill. Any other recommendations?

Visiting next month. Where to visit?!

A few buddies and I are plotting a trip to Gaithersburg to see if it's a spot we want to live. Only have a few days for it, but we want to get a vibe check and experience what the area has to offer.

Any locals able to recommend:
• Food, local specialties or favorite dives
• Arts! One buddy really wants to check out the art scene.

Sadly, internet searches haven't turned up much, and it's mostly been kids' stuff, so I'm asking for some local input.

Found an iPhone on a bus. Can I somehow contact the owner/call someone from a locked phone?

Or should I just leave it with the bus driver? Personally I didn't have the best experience with stuff being found/returned. Just want to make sure the phone gets returned.

Moving to Gaithersburg from the UK

Hey all, I’m (27M) starting a position at NIH in a couple of months.

I’m looking for a 1 bedroom flat, budget is $1800.

Seneca Village and Gateway were the places that popped up to the proximity to my work as well as Shady Grove for access to DC.

Any tips, recommendations or advice about living in Gaithersburg would be appreciated!

Edit: thanks for all the comments, I’ll reply to all soon. To clarify I’m actually working in Gaithersburg, not the Bethesda site and I will have a car.

Edit 2: I’ve decided to book viewings at Crown, Rockville and Pike and Rose areas.

Seven new stop signs will be put along the 2 miles of East Village Ave. This is so unnecessary and is just going to affect traffic. Cars will find another way. Can someone advise a formal way to complain about this and perhaps to remove these?

Best Way to get to Dulles (IAD)

Hi everyone,

I am traveling internationally on a Wednesday next week. My flight to Colombia leaves at 7:10 am. I don't drive. I am trying to figure out what is the best way to get to Dulles in time to deal with my flight, customs, check in etc.

I know it would probably be best to arrive at dulles around 4 AM but metro isn't open or accessible to get me there within enough time. I also live in the Airpark area.

Looking to move to the area (apartment wise) shortly after the new year after starting a new job in DC.

I have already reviewed some apartments in the area but mainly looking for anyone’s recommendations for places they currently live at (or recently have) or advice for places to stay away from.

LOST TIFFANY & CO POUCH: CONTAINS SENTIMENTAL ITEMS

Hello everyone,

I dropped a small Tiffany & Co. pouch containing a few pairs of earrings and two rings, but I'm not sure where. I belong to the LA Fitness in Crown and it may have been there or it may have been at the Shady Grove Metro center. The items are highly sentimental (their only value quite honestly) and I am devastated to have lost them. I've already contacted lost and found for the Metro and called LA Fitness, but I'm hoping someone may have seen it and would be so grateful to have any information. It would have been between 8:00 and 9:00 am that I lost it.

Please, please, please message me if you have any information on my items!!!

thank you.

Driver's License Help

Mods, please don't remove this post. I posted on r/maryland and r/MontgomeryCountyMD, and they removed them.

Hi everyone! I let my driver's license expire for more than a year (it's a long story; DM me if you want the tea). I have to take the knowledge test, and the road skills test to get a new license. Would a driving school allow me to use their car for the road test for a fee?
