Edith “Edie” Ceccarelli, at 116, is officially the second oldest person on Planet Earth according to the Gerontology Research Group. But far more important than that is Edie is her town’s celebrity. She’s invited everyone in Willits, California (population 4,885) to come celebrate her birthday with her since turning 100. And they do! The entire town gives her a drive-by parade to let her know just how special she is. This incredible lady who, well into her 100s, still went into town almost every day, stylishly outfitted from her dress to her jewelry and handbag. Edie only went into assisted living at 107. She still relishes life’s ordinary pleasures like the carrot cake that was part of her 116th birthday celebration. How very wonderful!
