This subreddit is for the older skaters (anyone above 30). If you are a new old skater you are in the right place as well.
You can post your videos, give and receive tips on tricks you're having difficulty with, your new board setup, what you think would be good for a new skater to get and anything else you find relevant. Skaters of all skill levels are welcome.
There is no age restriction as long as you are not posting your skating footage (See rules below before posting).

There is no age restriction as long as you are not posting your skating footage (videos or photos).
Your post will be removed if it violates this rule.
This is implemented by design to allow the younger skaters to interact with the older skaters but not make the subreddit pointless.
If you are less than [30YO] and want to post your skating footage please use communities which are more appropriate (ex: r/skateboarding).
TITLE RULES:
Your post should contain the following tag at the end [ageYO], where age is your current age in numbers.
For example, I am 38 years old. Therefore, all my post titles this birthday year will be followed by the following:
[38YO]
Common issues:
. You are missing your age tag.
. You forgot to include YO in your age tag after age number.
. You did not enclose tag in square brackets [].
. You did not place the tag at the end of the title. (it should be the last thing, no periods after it).
Note: There is no age restriction as long as you are not posting your skating footage. If it doesn't make sense to specify an age just put [0YO].

I don't know what was going on with my balance today, I just realized I've never tried to ride these while facing towards the camera and it just threw me off, was leaning way too far forward. Got x rays and confirmed a triquetrum fracture. Pretty bummed, hoping I recover pretty quick, I'm definitely going to cruise around with my dog at the very least. Got a fiber glass cast on now.
This has got to be the second dumbest injury I've ever gotten.
Mike Vallely allways impressed me. So I tried these. First it was much harder than expected. But it clicked at some point.
Had a ct scan showed small hernia. I don't lift weights so not sure how I got it but was curious if anyone else had them or lives with them and still skates?
Here we go again!
Yesterdays sesh was pretty great!
New High Concave feels amazing, very responsive on shove and popshoves!
Ace 03 + 52 Athletic Softs 92A + Sk8DLX Titanium Ceramics, these roll forever oO^^
Hey guys,
Decided to try my hand at skateboarding again after a 15 year break.
Never managed to do more than just cruising before but got an Ollie last night. However, my feet were really sore after landing a couple. Is this a technique issue or shoes maybe?
So I fell during my second lesson while doing a kickturn on a ramp. Fell during the pivot and landed weirdly on my shoulder causing it to dislocate. Holy crap that hurts! As far as they could see I didn’t do any other damage but I’m out for at least 6 weeks.
It’s the first time I seriously fell and hurt myself so right away my head went into this cycle of, “how will I ever get the guts to get on a board again?”
Now I know falling and injuries are part of the game but it was such a clumsy situation and the pain was pretty intense, that feel the fear creeping up on me.
Does anyone have any tips for dealing with this because I was having so much fun and don’t want to give up skateboarding!
Thanks!!
Skated for a bit back in 2005-2006, learning basics getting cops called etc. never picked it back up till a couple years ago
Bought new deck couple years ago and have discovered a skate park which is quickly becoming addicting.
I love the sensation on transition and have carved and pumped around my first bowl
Now I can’t wait for the weekend off so I can spend pretty much all day at the park.
Everyone at the park is so friendly and welcoming and it’s a positive place to be
I must wear pads and wrist guards and I try not to let the younger guys talk me into stuff
Also my body is killing me mostly plantar fasciitis in my right foot I’m goofy, but I still keep going.
But anyway wanted to say hi
I guess the bug has finally bit me
Decided to try and hit some slash grinds today
First one on film. It’s taken me months to learn these.
I used to watch this chill vid of Rodney Mullen doing cool shit in a school lot on youtube, maybe an elementary or middle? His board and how young he was makes me think 80's or early 90's. But the video disappeared from Youtube and I can't find it anywhere else. Imma be mad bummed if I remembered the vid wrong and it was actually someone else.
(We're going uphill and I'm not making him pull me just so we're clear)
Went past a skatepark the other day and got inspired to take up bowl skating, I used to street skate in my teens but bowl skating really appeals to me now.
Been doing some digging recently and am liking a more subtle old school shape like the Blast 10" Mascot Doodle but then I've also been looking at the Heroin Egg boards like the 10" Curb Killer. I haven't been able to find much on Egg boards being used for bowl skating though.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Egg boards in bowls? Am I missing something or might these be good for Bowl skating?
So after about an hour at the local skatepark I decided it was way too cold and worked on my flatground a bit. Got an ollie I am OK with, surprised I can still do Nollies, a sketchy ass nollie shove, and my first kickflip attempts in 14 years! There was no way I was going to commit fully to that kickflip so I put that on pause for today.
Cheers!
My son pulled me on his quad and my daughter was my filmer... Life is damn fun.
