Been doing this for half an hour that time...
Still pretty scary, but I have a high success rate at this point. This was my 4th time at the skatepark. Gonna do a bunch of these this weekend to hopefully get un scared lol
35YO newbie
Today was my 2nd time on a board, first by myself. I had a ton of fun - managed to stay & roll on the board for a few meters, until I decided that going downhill a tiny tiny slope would be awesome. It was until I face planted so hard that I'm now in the ER waiting for a couple of stitches on my brow ridge... nurse said that I would have been in a much MUCH worse state had I not worn a helmet.
NB: I'll be back on my board as soon as the head stops spinning ^^
I was skating relatively chill at the local skatepark, just some mini ramp stuff (I can't even rock to fakie, it was just going up and down and kick turns lol) but my back truck kept loosening up like crazy on me out of nowhere. Few things to know, I tightened my kingpin nuts enough that a couple threads of the kingpin were above the nut, and I was riding Bones hardcore 96a bushings. As I was making my way home, they suddenly felt super loose and I heard a weird noise, but I sorta just ignored it since my house was less than 100yd away. I popped an ollie over a crack in the sidewalk, and, when I landed, I stopped dead in my tracks and flew off the board. I turn around and see the back hangar six inches from my board on the ground, one bushing and the washer sitting next to it. The front truck was totally fine, but I lost my kingpin nut and one bushing for the back truck (I had extra bushings, but I had to buy a new nut for temporary use until I could get the right size). What the heck happened???

Tried to ollie for the first time and was able to land it after a while. I know I’m not getting much air, but how do I look?
So I was out earlier cruising, and I skated a few little hills; nothing I’d consider “downhill” or anything. It gave me a chance to practice speed checks, and I found that for me backside, or heel side seemed a little easier.
When I would try to kick out in front toeside, it would usually result in me getting bucked forward. I’m sure much of this is user error, but is one typically easier than the other?
I feel like once the board gets near the 90 degree mark it’s hard to right it back.
Heel side checks seems a little bit more mellow with less change in the degrees of the board and less over all shift from normal riding stance.
I need to work on getting air, but that's really just a commitment and timing issue. That said, rolling in was a huge fear of mine. I conquered that today.
This morning I was moved to toss the risers and 60mm 78a’s back onto my deck and take a rip around the neighborhood. For the last few weeks I had 56mm spitfires on my board and have just really been using my board at the park.
I feel I get so much enjoyment and almost more benefit just riding my board around unknown places, on rough ground, around real life obstacles than I do riding back and forth at the park over and over.
Don’t get me wrong, I love skating the park, it’s a great place to level up, but getting out and just skating the streets is very underrated. Plus, I’m not skating lines and grinding stuff—I’m just riding one end to the other and trying to kick turn the quarter pipe.
I would encourage anyone that is just sitting in their garage or driveway trying to ollie to 1.) get a nice little cruiser set up from Santa Cruz, Landyatchz, Arbor, etc.—or go to the shop and build your own
-or-
2.) go and get yourself a second set of soft wheels and bearings; something bigger like 56mm, then just swap them out with your park wheels and just go ride around. Forget about tricks and just go have fun. All the while you will be building all the muscle memory and neuro mechanical foundation you need for everything else. Plus it gives you a chance to work on real life situations like foot-braking and speed checks.
As the LY Team says: “skate and explore”.

The flip came easy I just cant get two feet on it.
I got two boards:
My main setup which consists out of:
My rain setup which consists out of:
Can different boards affect your tricks? Because at the same time I do have good and bad days on my main setup as well.
Do I blame the board or is it me 😅
One thing to consider here: i am in very bad physical condition; I'm out of breath and exhausted with barely any physical activity, I don't eat that much/well, spend most of my time sitting down studying and don't do any sports apart from skateboarding. Despite this, however, I am quite slim (genetics) so my weight isn't an issue here.
So I'm lead to two possible answers:
If it's 1, I'd appreciate some advice on how to fix it :)
New question...why is Fs so hard 😅
Hey, I've read some articles and I got confused by those. If I'm right or left footed what would be my foot on the board or what foot would be pushing, I'm really in a mess, please clear things up for me
Hey everyone! I just launched my own skateboard shop, and I'm stoked to share it with you all. Whether you're just getting started or a seasoned skater, I've got a variety of designs that are perfect for everyone. Check out the collection on my website, and feel free to browse, ask questions, or drop any feedback. Here's the link to the shop – hope to see you there! https://nomansland.threadless.com/
So I'm riding a 8 and got the trucks for it and all. She's about done for the board is anyways, thinking of getting this 8.1 skating the trucks I already have on my 8 on that deck shouldn't be a issue should it ?
Could got a better photo if the cat wasn't in the way
any tips??
I wanna experiment with new wheels and different brands as I’ve been riding bones forever . I wanna get wheels that slide amazing but don’t vibrate a lot (all wheels except dragons +soft sliders bc my skate shop don’t have em) .
YouTube is not helping at all
(Sorry about my English) I've been skating for like 3 weeks now, still look awkward on the board, I know.

New skater and I wanna do better Ollie’s, I know it’s low and I’m not worried abt that, I just wanna land consistently.
Will I learn gradually or do I need to start a habit of something?
