Mountainboarding, it's somewhere between skateboarding and snowboarding but now very much a sport in its own right. Invented by snowboarders back in the early 90s during the summer season when there was no snow to shred. The boards have come a long way since then with light decks, channel trucks, pneumatic tires and quick release ratchet bindings.
With instruction it's easy to learn and most are boarding within an hour. It is recommended that you always wear appropriate pads and a helmet.
"Mountainboarding, also known as Dirtboarding, Offroad Boarding, Grass Boarding, and All-Terrain Boarding (ATB), is a well established if little-known extreme sport, derived from snowboarding. A mountainboard is made up of components including a deck, bindings to secure the rider to the deck, four wheels with pneumatic tires, and two steering mechanisms known as trucks. Mountainboarders, also known as riders, ride specifically designed boardercross tracks, slopestyle parks, grass hills, woodlands, gravel tracks, streets, skateparks, ski resorts, BMX courses and mountain bike trails. It is this ability to ride such a variety of terrain that makes mountainboarding different from other board sports." - Wikipedia

Just asking. Thinking abouy buying a Flyer.
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone had any advice for which channel truck dampers I should go with for someone just starting out?
I bought a seconds hand trampa board (unsure of exact model) that came with channel trucks and a white spring damper which apparently is the most stiff.
I've briefly tried the board and found it really difficult to turn.
I suspect there is a combined issue of the dampers being too stiff with the original rider setting up for more speed stability and my lack of ability.
I was looking however at changing the damper so it is looser and have bought a yellow (soft) and a ?red (hard) damper but now having second thoughts. Should I have gone for the loosest (orange) to make it easiest to turn so I pick up the fundamentals quickest or is it very much a personal thing. Will dampers make huge differences?
The other option is it looks like the channel trucks can be moved more central, so they are closer together which again makes it looser.
A second question is how tight should the bindings be set. Should I have them loose enough to slip my feet in whilst being totally centred on the board or should I ratchet them down to lock myself in place. When having them loose I feel I loose connectivity with the board but I also want the ability to bail if things get out of control.
Any advice on someone totally new to the sport would be massively welcome!
Thank you
I pick a Vevor board and it seems like a decent quality board. I was wondering if anyone else has had there boards and what they thought about them?
I want to build or buy a board I can use with my dogs pulling me. Something with a hand break, and good to get started with.
My budget is around $600 to $700. I was thinking about the aeboard at2 but I donโt know a lot about them. I own three electric skateboards, but this is my first mountain board. Any suggestions?
Found these 2 (two) in a storage unit we bought. r/whatisthisthing responses were uncertain. However, some suggested that this thread may be able to help identify. Are these Mountainboards?
Any help is appreciated!!!
End up about 8 feet from the board. Ride great and is fast...now to avoid the hidden holes that are in the middle of the grassy field/hill. Hopefully just some pulled muscles and bruised bones
Muscle relaxers here I come........
Anyone have any replacement options...need to replace while I'm down...strap broke
any one from North Florida or South Georgia area and want to ride some time?
I know the first official mountainboard was invented in the early 90โs, but the first recorded session of what most closely resembled Mountain Boarding as we know it was in 1978, when Mike Motta went down Seven Bumps Hill in Malden, MA on a skateboard through the snow as a dare. My grandma lives within walking distance of this place so figured Iโd share with people who appreciate it! โบ๏ธ
Iโm trying to decide if I want to buy a summer board or mountain board. The summer board looks more fun because you can carve and spin easily on flat ground. The mountain board looks fun to hit jumps and ride trials in the woods. Do the electric mountain boards hold up well for mostly flat trails and woods tracks? Because if they are uncomfortable id rather get a board made for flat/concrete.
I want to get into mountainboarding but I don't have a lot of money, I'm looking for the best Budget mountainboard I can buy, preferably under or around 100usd, does anyone know a good place to start?
Hi! I've had a problem with my mountain board for a few months now. I bought an electric mountain board a year ago and use it for most of my trips. I'm very happy about it, but I notice that the more I use it, the more it naturally turns to the left without even being on the board. The problem must be with the wheels, but I can't figure out how to fix it. I've already tried dismantling the front truck, tightening the screws and forcing the springs, but nothing changes. To move around, I have to press hard to the right to go straight ahead, which tends to throw me off balance, right turns are almost impossible and I feel less and less safe on it. Does anyone know how to solve the problem, or do I have to change the truck completely? (I bought it second-hand, so I don't have the truck reference).
