2005 R53 with just over 70,000 miles. Car does run and drive however I stopped driving it soon as the sounds started.
So the other day my 2016 Mini Countryman experienced a strange issue during freezing temps in PA, the door wouldn't close or lock. Luckily my husband and I were close to home so he just held it closed until I parked at home and then we took a look. We weren't able to close the door by pushing on it but we were able to manually turn the latch and close it (it still wouldn't lock, though.)
I called a shop on Saturday and they said they could take a look at it on Wednesday. Fast forward to today, it was a super nice day here in PA (45 degrees compared to the awful freezing cold we've been having) and suddenly the door opens, closes, and locks just fine!
Anybody else experience this? Should I still take it to the shop on Wednesday just in case or did it just have something to do with the freezing cold? lol? Thanks for any help!!
Hi! I got my first Mini last week and it’s so fun to drive. I set up almost everything but had a few outstanding questions that the dealership tech guy couldn’t answer. Shot in the dark but do you guys know—
Can you reset the Openometer? I can reset the trip counter but not the Full lifetime counter. (I’ve drive one hour. But it has 254 hours on there from the previous owner)
On the heads up display, when using the scroll buttons to change the radio station, you have to click down, and then ok to change to the new station. Is there a setting to make it change the station as soon as you click down vs having to click down and then ok?
Various CarPlay questions that are too much to go into. But it seems really hard to get to / save a setting to have both Waze on CarPlay and XM stations on the screen at the same time.
Thanks! Can’t wait for spring to drive w the top down more.
Can someone explain to me what exactly my car is doing and why it's making that noise?
Hi! I picked up this 2012 Mini Cooper S about a month ago. It only had 68,000 miles on it and it’s up-to-date on all its maintenance. It’s my first time owning a Mini, and I love it. Question: is there any downside to driving it in ‘Sport’ mode the whole time? I love that it really moves when it’s in ‘Sport’ mode, and I’d like to keep it on whenever I’m driving. Will that damage the car in any way? Thanks!
Hey!
I saw a video in which the car was showing the RPM in core mode, does anyone know how to change it?
I don’t have an electric mini so is kind of stupid 🤷🏽♂️
Here is the link, it’s in the minute 5:30 if anyone can help or knows how? Thanks!
Grabbed this off eBay. Turned out decent.
manual r52 happens around 2300 rpm goes down with speed or goes away completely when I put in the clutch
Hey MINI community,
I recently replaced the oil filter housing gasket on my MINI, which required changing the coolant. Since then (or at least this winter), I've noticed that the heater isn't working as it used to. It gets slightly warm, but only about 30% of what it was before.
Here’s what I’ve checked so far:
Could this be due to air trapped in the cooling system? Or maybe something else like the thermostat, heater core, or a sensor issue?
I’d really appreciate any advice on how to diagnose or fix this. Thanks in advance!
Hi folks. I have a 2015 Mini Cooper S and I had my breaks replaced recently but they didn't reboot the computer so I still have the annoying break warning light on the screen and on the dash. I've tried to reboot the computer to get rid of it per some instructions I've found on Mini forums (see my video) but it still isn't working. I am able to reset the other options during this reboot phase i.e. oil, service, etc but the one I want to reset won't work! Any help or guidance is extremely appreciated!
how much do yall think US mini prices will be affected by these tariffs? i’ve been holding out on buying a mini until my current car dies (2011 hyundai elantra) but i fear i may have waited too long
there’s no real way of knowing really until it’s happening but was just wondering about y’all’s thoughts
I know it'll make the pops louder and give the car a more throaty sound but im wondering how much louder it'll make the car as a daily. I did a resonator delete on my speed 3 before and it sounded fantastic until you had to sit at 70 on the freeway. The drone was horrible. I quite like the way the exhaust note these things make stock. I just want to make it sound a bit more aggressive when you're really going.
I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I looked and couldn't find it.
Just got my mini earlier last year (august) The oil change isn't coming up for at least a month. Will this annoying yellow triangle just be on my display until then? Is there a way to clear it??
I want to buy my first Mini cooper, and when i was in London i saw the Union jack tail lights for the first time and they are so cool :D. But i will not be able to buy the new expensive Mini's so is it possible to put those on a 2008 to 2012 models?
I think i read they came out in 2014, but i just wanted to ask just to be sure :)
Also I have an aftermarket aluminum coolant reservoir. How do I check the coolant in it and can anyone tell me where to get coolant in East Tennessee area or do I have to buy it online?
Is the fan on a mini cooper S R53 supposed to come on after a 10 or 15 minute drive? My car isn’t registering hot, but I drove down the road just a little bit not a hard drive probably not even over 25 miles an hour maybe 30 and when I park the fan never came on. Is that normal?
I'm about 10 months out from my lease end. I wanted to get into another car and was willing to pay off the difference between what a dealer would give me and what my payoff is on the lease so I could get my new car.
All good, except BMW Financial said "yeah, no" when I started to put together a deal. They've basically said if I don't personally pay off the vehicle or buy another BMW/Mini I can't pay off the loan. They've said they will decline any 3rd party paying off the lease, even if it is for the full payoff amount.
Has anyone else encountered this and found a work-around or do I need to wait the lease out and turn it in? Seems like this is a nasty anti-consumer restraint of trade. As long as they get their money, it shouldn't matter who is paying it off.
Are the ones with the plate on the outside or something? The box they came in doesn’t say.
Hi! Looking to change my r60 countryman manual shift knob but having a hard time finding direct fits? Is there an adapter that needs to be used? Open to any suggestions.
Thank you!
Hi all,
Has anyone retrofitted the JCW sports seats to their F56S? I’ve got the regular S seats just now and find them quite uncomfortable during the warmer months and for longer trips, so I was considering swapping them to the JCW seats. In my area, these seats can be found from breaking JCWs for not a ton of money. I know physically they will bolt in, but does anyone have knowledge if the electrical connections will match up for the airbags or if they will cause my S to throw a code? (I have no worries about the heated seats, as my S did not have those from factory)
I came out of the store today to find someone who obeys the rules. Mine is the R57 on the teeny weeny wheels.
Today I had to take my 2014 Mini F56 Cooper SD in for a recall for the EGR, I had a courtesy car, 2024 Mini Cooper S, I will let you know some of my thoughts: good points, the heated steering wheel was nice as it was -1 today, bad points, the plastics feel very cheap all over, centre arm rest that does not open or you can’t adjust, steering wheel is very chunky, the heated seats and steering wheel come on every time you start the car up (I’m sure there is a simple way to stop this) the seats are the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in, they are a fixed back with the headrest curves forward, so I it felt like my head was being pushed down, I had to sit forward off of the seat so I could comfortably lift my head up ? Most of the functions are on the big touch screen in the middle, so per awkward to turn that heated steering wheel off while driving, to me it felt like the quality of everything has gone down. Also I thought I had been given a basic model, turs out it was a cooper S ? Or they just stuck an S on the grill ? lol I have always felt anyone that had a mini there would be a good chance you would have another, and I would have another in a heartbeat, but it’s going to have to be 2023 or older, I would advise anyone looking to get a new mini, get a 24 hour test drive and make your own mind up, but mine is made up, the new ones are 💩
Edit: The codes aren't related to the work. I'll be signing off on the repairs.
My Mini Cooper S 2007 is in for insurance repairs, they did some work on the wiring harness that runs to the horn and A/C and ambient temp sensor. Now it's done and they want me to sign off on the insurance repairs but the car has new DTCs I've never seen before taking them in! Namely:
00A8BF FRM (Footwell Module), rear fog lamp/left adaptive brake lamp faulty present 00A8B6 FRM: Brake light, left, faulty present 00A8AF FRM: Fog light, right, faulty, E90 M3: daytime running light, right, faulty Absent
The shop guy is trying to tell me that the codes are intermittent and couldn't be related to the repairs, but I have never seen any codes related to those on my OBD2 scanner before, nor have I had lights out, nor is there anything about them in any CARFAX from the car's history. So I was hoping to get some help from anyone that would know:
Are these codes really intermittent? Do they show up as a CEL light or something else? Would they show up in a non-BMW scanner?
Before, I did have an intermittent warning light on the little dash LCD that looked like a light bulb warning, but I would get out and check the lights and they would all be running fine. Could that be how the car tells me about those codes?
Any help would be awesome!
Hi everyone,
I’ve removed the nut from a rear wiper that broke (plastic broke). The wiper seems to have left this metal, textured circle on it which won’t come off.
Does anyone have any ideas how to take this off? I’ve sprayed lots of WD40 on it and no movement at all. I bought a new rear wiper arm, but the metal bit won’t fit over this.
Thanks
