Thoughts. This is the Second year in a row that our Offense has been lack luster against GT. Do they just have his number?
Guidry could this be his last season @ the U?
Is the Defense just young?
Or is Guidry's scheme too complicated? Or is it plain as Vanilla?
Like the title says I need help finding this shirt design, but Iām looking for it with sleeves. I canāt find it online, but Iāve seen a few fans wearing the sleeved version of this shirt at games. Just wondering if any of you have seen it floating around. Let me know thanks!
I Need to rant - I donāt understand all the hate on the coaches every single time things arenāt perfect. Football is not a perfect game but as a Miami fan, all I have heard for the past 10-15 years is āfire this coach they are horribleā from the fan base. At some point the players need to be held accountable as well for their execution. Multiple times watching the game live, LBs and DL missed obvious keys that would have shut down plays right away.
After my playing days were done and I graduated from college I got more and more into coaching while starting my career in education. I was lucky that I got to work with head coaches that let me move around to coach different position groups through the years so I could continue to learn until ultimately being promoted up to DC and then to HC at the high school level. I went on a lot of trips to coaching clinics and spent a lot of time listening to and talking with college coaches who were kind enough to share everything they had with me - especially Clemson who ran a great clinic and often would stay as long as you wanted watching film and asking questions without wasting their time. One of my biggest questions was to always learn how they defend power/counter. We see it a lot more at the high school level but it is beginning to come back more consistently in college again over the past few years. Do they read the backfield or the pullers? Almost every defensive coach I talked to, position coaches and DCs, said the same thing. āWe read the RB with the pullers at the bottom of their eyes.ā The way this was explained to me was that LBs get their alignment vs power/counter teams where they have to look through the guard to see the RB, and counter is repped in practice every other or every third play to read it correctly and move with the pullers. DL is taught when they are left unblocked to squeeze down and tighten the hole.
During the GT game I saw signs that this was coached. Alignment overall I thought looked good, they were in proper position to read the RB with pullers at the bottom of their eyes - but not great consistency. On a good amount of plays I saw pullers get jammed up by crashing DL when left free and LBs reacting to pullers on power/counter. However most of the big runs that came on power/counter was when either a DL did not crash to tighten the hole, or even more often, the LBs missed the pull key. To me, if players are aligned correctly, show that they can make the proper read and play the read correctly that means that it was coached through the week/season. But the few times it happens and they miss it, that is on the player and those plays broke big. This is the biggest example I noticed.
Moving on from this game the coaches need to make strides with disciplined execution. They need to use film to reteach and make corrections, they need to get a lot of reps in practice (because we will see this more after it worked against us) and they need to take people out that canāt play with discipline and put players in that can. If there are signs they are doing this, then they are good coaches and I support them. If not, then I agree they need to go but letās see what happens first. It is hard as a coach to have these corrections get through to players after they win because in the players minds, the mistakes didnāt matter. They got away with it and everyone still feeling good after they won. After a loss players are now more open and willing to make those adjustments. Remember the player only meeting earlier in the year? They knew back then it was on their execution and even said it! I very highly doubt they just sat around and bashed the coaches. We have been waiting for the team to be in this position for years and now that there is one single loss on the year we want to fire the coaching staff? Seriously?
If you made it this far, thanks. I hope as a fan base we continue to support these players and coaches. Go Canes!
With 10 games into the season I doubt they let Lance go (even though Iād love to see it) but they do get a bye week before playing Wake Forest so who knows. Iām just tired of seeing the defense be the reason lesser teams are even in positions to win games when our offense can do so much
Good game today, team looks good, some specific points to improve but like the title says, my first game at the Watsco Center, I enjoyed so much the experience, walking in the campus feels different, looking forward to assist to more games and Go Canes!!! š§”š
Where are the designed QB runs, or any trickery at all to gain a chunk playā¦flea flicker, anything!! We already know the defense sucks, why not pull out all the stops in a game like that
Nice to watch.
Did good work lots of ways. Nice offense. Nice defense. Both team and on ball. Nice rebounding even.
17 each for Nijel and Jalen. 4 guys in double figures. Ugo looked so nice again.
Back in the Gables Sunday for Coppin State. See you then.
Go Canes.
Interesting. I get it. But interesting.
Whatās even more interesting? ND is ranked ahead of UM 4 spots.
Don't wait. He's horrible. Allowing us to lose the edge all season. Listen players just don't decide to freelance stunt inside from the edge ALL SEASON. It is guidrys scheme and it sucks ass. This d is worse than donofrio.
Our secondary blows but the line play has been atrocious on the edge with talented guys.
I'd take mannys d back because at least he got pressure on the QB.
Re watching the game, everything went against us winning this game.
Offense - Clearly our worst game of the season. Cam/coaching are where i would put most of the blame there. BUT dude, we are 9-1 because of these guys. Due for a bad one sooner or later.
Defense -
D line: bad LB's: really bad DB's: my goodness LG: my theory on this is buddy knows he doesn't have the guys on the back end to run his base scheme and allow him to be aggressive which sucks but there has been almost zero adjustments in order to limit opponents strengths as the game goes on. Almost 300 rushing yards? Thought Manny was coaching Duke now......
Accept that this team is not championship caliber and adjust expectations accordingly.
How does the ACC tiebreak go? If Miami wins out, are they back in now that Pitt just lost to Virginia?
Miami controls their own destiny to the ACC championship again with Pitt going down!
ESPNās Booger McFarland just absolutely nailed Miami on the halftime show. Said Mario should have to answer about being a poorly coached team. Damn! š„¶š„¶
Iām so lost can somebody explain to me šš
Canes lost Georgia lost LSU upsets bama bama could be out
No game for us next week I hope we make some defensive changes because that defense shows up in the playoffs we are 1 and done .
Again just knee-jerk reaction/observation .. Go Canes šš¾
Our defense versus GT was the same defense theyāve been all year -not great, but keeping teams below our 48+points/game. Our offense lost this game for us, not the D. They scored less than half their average, the OL was porous and Cam held onto the ball way too long.
Am I the only one who thinks this?
Oregon or Miami. This type of loss epitomizes his weakness as a coach. Iām not trying to be funny but I think he needs to consult his old boss Nick Saban and/or a sports therapist. 9-1 is great though but we canāt play like this anymore. Weāll get spanked vs the elite teams
Or will it be Pitt or Clemson
Also I think Boise might take our bye if we get in
If you guys are patient. We will win a championship in two years.
We as fans cannot rely on coaching (weāre stuck with mediocre coaches). Itās going to be the personnel thatās going to take us there, not that SORRY ASS coaching staff.
Okay, the loss definitely sucks.
But don't let the braindead attempts at memes or comments about our loss from the cesspool of ignorance that is r/CFB or social media distract you from this...another Miami record for X.
We've all been blessed to watch this man play for the last 4 yrs and be a true Hurricane every single game and become Mr. Clutch and a Miami legend.
Let's try to celebrate this and enjoy his last few games as a Cane!
Let me start by saying that we are in the midst of one of the best seasons in almost two decades.
At the same time we cannot deny that luck played a big part in several games to keep us undefeated till today. We just ran out of it.
Where was our running game today? Why couldnāt we set the edge? How did we give up multiple plays of 3rd and long?
Cam Ward bailed us out so far, but we canāt win shit without playing a complete game
