Are all the white lines the plates in my face?

Besides all my missing bone, is there anything else worth noting? Just curious. Won’t be able to go over it with my doc for a while.

Doctor gave restrictions to my father which caused him to not be able to return to work and no is refusing to sign short term disability forms.

I hope this is the right place to seek assistance for this matter. Recently, my dad experienced a health scare that required hospitalization for a few days. After undergoing some procedures and monitoring, he was released from care.

Following his discharge, he took two weeks off from work and attended a follow-up appointment with the doctor who had overseen his case. He was then cleared to return to work with a restriction: he cannot lift over 15 pounds.

However, because this restriction is not related to a workplace incident, his employer informed him that he cannot return to work until he is cleared for full duty. This led us to apply for an extension of his disability benefits until the restrictions are lifted (expected to be resolved this week).

Unfortunately, the doctor who issued the restrictions is refusing to sign the disability paperwork, stating that this does not qualify as a disability. He advised us to contact my dad's primary care physician (PCP) for the forms. However, the PCP understandably declined to complete them, as they were not involved in imposing the restrictions and do not know when they will be lifted.

From my understanding of the ADA, this situation should qualify as a short-term disability since my dad cannot perform his regular job duties due to his recovery post-procedure.

I sought advice from a friend familiar with the medical field, who suggested requesting a denial in writing from the doctor to potentially encourage them to complete the forms.

At this point, I am seeking guidance on what other recourse we have. My dad has already gone two weeks without pay, and since he earns just above minimum wage, this is causing significant financial strain.

Ocular Migraines - Lasting Peripheral Blindness Worsening Over Time

M26, 6'5", 195lbs

Bi-Polar taking Lamotrigine, stable.
ADHD with Ritalin prescription which I do not take more than once or twice a month due to mood swings.
Sumatriptan prescription for Migraines, taken as needed when available.

No known health issues beyond those listed above.

I get ocular migraines whose cause is still unknown. I go half blind and the blindness then recedes and this has been the case for about a decade. However, I got a series of migraines back in May and since then I have had lasting blindness in my peripheral vision. When I get migraines now, these spots seemingly get worse and only seem to improve slightly over the course of several weeks assuming I do not get more migraines. However, some blindness persists no matter the amount of time between migraines and settles in a few spots around my main vision.

I have never received decent treatment for my migraines. Only being given Sumatriptan which has been effective in shortening the length of the migraine. The nature of them has shifted over the years but the main symptoms are the same

Am I allowed to ask my doctor to a referral to hospital?

So basically for the past 16 days I haven’t been able to eat any foods and within that time I’ve eaten the equivalent of a small pack of crisps. I can only taste food by chewing and spitting it out and there’s even times I can’t even swollow my own spit due to it feeling like my throat is blocked.

I was told to wait 14 more days but I don’t think I can as I’m so tired and can’t even cry because whenever I do whatever in my throat begins to choke me.

I’d much rather ask my doctor for a referral to get this over and done with then have to continue waiting around HOPING I’ll wake up better enough to eat some point.

It’s starting to get concerning as I’m noticing a decent amount of weight loss since I’ve basically been on a liquid diet and can’t even get milk or even milkshakes down sometimes just to cancel out the hunger.

I’ve tried just going up to hospital(s) but they tell me they need my doctor to refer me up because of the type of issue it is and I’ve been taking the medication since the second day it started.

Doctor only gave me 3 day eyedrops for pink eye?

I thought pink eye lasted at least a week, right? I developed symptoms last night and came in this morning, and he only advised me to use the eye drops for 3 days, twice a day. I haven’t had pink eye since like elementary school, so I don’t know how it works.

Sinus or bronchitis or pneumonia?

I’ve been under the weather since Nov 28th. I had no symptoms other than a scratchy throat. On the 29th in the evening around 8-9 I started sniffling. I am prone to sinus infections and already had at least 4 back to back earlier this year until I worked out a better allergy medicine plan (prescribed meds + Claritin + nasal spray). Might

On the 30th I started getting a crunchy sounding cough. It felt like I was hearing a rattle every time I opened my mouth. The rattle lessened on Nov 1st, but now I’m having full blown sinus problems - sneezing and stuffy runny nose, head feels clogged. Today I coughed up two globs of thick dark yellow mucus (photo attached). I don’t like going to the doctor bc I already go so much for my thyroid issues, just seeking advice on whether I should get myself up and go tho. I don’t know if this is a sinus infection (if it is I’ll wait it out at home) or bronchitis or pneumonia or Covid or whatever.

I've had back pain for 4 months. What do I do?

I'm a female, aged 18, 5'4 and I weigh 82kg. I've been having back pain since September and I've been seeing a GP whom have done nothing. I request an appointment and I have to wait over 2 weeks for each appointment.
More information about the backpain:
It travels from the middle of my back and up my spine and moves into my neck. If I sit in one position for too long the pain begins to increase to the point where I cry sometimes. The only thing to 'relive' this intense pain is usually to stand up or sit down, but that doesn't last for long. When the pain is at its worse I often feel it in my stomach. I also get intense abdominal pain but I'm unsure if that is related. Since this has happened I've had shortness of breath and my legs feel weaker than usual? I have had no injury, I'm fairly active (I walk often) but I do not go to the gym or do any major activities as that isn't my thing. I've also been struggling with sleep and will wake up in the morning (around 1-2 am) with terrible pain and be unable to sleep again.
I've had one MRI of the thoracic spine.
I've had two blood tests, all results come back negative. I've been tested for the following: Erythorcyte sedimentation rate (normal), Full blood count FBC (normal), Serum ANA pattern (Normal), Serum C reactive protein level (normal), Erythocyte sedimentation rate (normal), Full blood count FBC (no action required), HLA B27 antigen screening test which was sent for further testing and eventually came back negative.
I'm at my breaking point with this and I'm unsure what to do, I've been told over and over again it's "just back pain" but it feels too bad to be back pain and I'm WAY too young to have it? I've seen a physio who gave me exercises which I've been doing since the begging and its had no affect.
I've taken several medications such as: Paracetamol 4 times a day - no affect. Iburprofen - no affect. Naproxen for a week and a half with co-codamol - no affect. A type of muscle relaxers - No affect. I've tried heat alone and it doesn't change anything, I've tried an ice pack for 20 minutes then heat which has no affect.
I'm honestly not sure what to do anymore, I tried to book another appointment with my GP and the closest one I can get is the 12th and I'll most likely have bloods done again and be told that it's negative then have to wait again. Do I go down A&E? What can they do for me? Sorry for talking so much about this, I just don't want to be in pain anymore, reddit is my only idea for medical advice. Any other suggestions of what it could be or other things I can try will be super helpful. Thank you. (I also live in England if that helps.)

Feeling Rougher Than Normal During the Last Few Weeks

I dont know if I need to vent or what but I've been struggling again. To sum up my issues in the shortest way possible leaving lots out. Im 33M, No drugs, or smoking, or alcohol., 14 years ago issues started with neurological symptoms, numbness, dizzyness, etc...havent felt great since then, they took 3 years to mostly clear up. 6 years ago I started having more issues with fatigue, low blood sugar feelings, chest discomfort, heat sensitiy, more symptoms of dysautonomia. Had another round of heart tests, were fine, did find a hiatal hernia. 1 year ago I got Covid, and I got another step worse. Since I had Covid, I've been sleeping more, I've had more fatigue, I've had muscle and joint pains regularly, muscles feel tight, I've had stomach issues, bowels have never been totally regular since.

I had 2 full blood workups in March, both normal, had some more heart tests in March, also normal. Had an endoscopy last year, other than Barrett's which I knew about and the hiatal hernia, normal. But the last few weeks, I've been feeling even worse than normal. Lots of anxiety and some depression, Lots of nausea, and my stomach feeling a bit tight from time to time. More bits of vertigo than im used to, stomach feels like its acting weird. Lots more weird chest feelings that are what I get from my hiatal hernia. My muscles have all been feeling sore and weak. I did a sim race earlier (which is my biggest hobby, im an eSports competitor and after my legs just felt trembly and it was accompanied with more nausea. Im accustomed to some trembling, usually when I wake up, but its been years since I had it randomly and it really bugs me because I felt a bit sick with it.. I've had an off and on cough over the last 6 since it got colder. But it goes away, like I havent had it since thursday. Basically I just feel super weak, and its freaking me out. I've been sleeping a little more than usual too, even lately. I used to be someone that could run on 4 hours of sleep, not healthy, but I could. Now if I dont get 6 hours of sleep minium I feel awful. I doze off in my chair if I get super relaxed which never used to happen, even though im sleeping more than I have since I was in high school. But like...I can still do things. I rode a riding lawn mower thursday and edven though I felt bad I got through it. I went to two grocery stores saturday even though I felt a bit sick and more vertigo....but I dotn know...Also I said a lot of anxiety. I dont at all believe these symptoms are from anxiety. The anxiety comes secondary to feeling bad, but im also just kind of lost. I've worried I have cancer, some kind of muscle disease, all kinds of stuff over the last few months because I just dont feel good in so many different ways. My muscles do also just feel stiff all the time now. I am out of shape, but I dont see how im more out of shape now than I was 2 years ago. Also I guess compounded by the fact that im losing health insurance at the end of the month. I know its been 9 months since I've been to the doctor but im also burnt out with doctors explaining many symptoms and just being told im fine.

In the past I've had multiple heart echos, about 5 and 10 years ago, only found a PFO. Two endoscopies which found the hiatal hernia nd Barrett's, Chest X-Ray this year, two EKGs this year, two full blood workups this year, Abdonminal ultrasounds and CT Scans 4-5 years ago, Gallbladder ultrasound 6 years ago, probably more than im forgetting.

Strange itching/redness/irritation on face and ears + some other issues have me worried...

So this one might be a mess, but I would really appreciate any input. I'm a 30 year old woman from the U.S., overweight, no big medical issues. I have severe anxiety and haven't been to a doctor in a good while.

I've got one issue going on right now, but there have been another couple of issues which may be related or totally unrelated to it

So I'll start with the main current issue. Sunday, I noticed that my earlobes were itching. It was this weird itch that felt like it was inside of the lobe, rather than just on the skin. I also had a bit of similar itching along my jawline - again, itching that felt almost like it was under the skin. By the time I went to bed it felt like it was a little more spread.

When I woke up Monday, the lower half of my face was reddish although it's kind of hard to tell how much was just from scratching. My eye area also appeared just slightly swollen. That day and night, it sort of spread to where pretty much all of my face has had some of this itching aside from my forehead. My ears, jaw, lower face, on my cheekbones, all of it has this itching and somewhat of an irritated feel. The itch has a feel almost like when I scratch the skin it's not reaching it, like it's just under the skin. Even the back of my neck has itched a bit.

Then Monday afternoon or evening, I noticed that I also had an area of rash on the underside of my right forearm. It's just some very small bumps, some of which are reddish, and it was itching a bit on and off. And I noticed just one very tiny blister form on a finger on my right hand. Now, Tuesday morning, I feel an itchy small bump coming up on one of my left fingers that I believe is another small blister forming. And the other issues are still happening. I took an antihistamine Monday evening, hard to say for sure but I think it improved things a bit for a few hours.

Possibly related to this all or not, but I'd noticed this past week that I feel my eyes itching here and there. Now, I have mild seasonal allergy issues at times, and here and there I'll get itchy eyes with it that feels similar...but I wouldn't see what in particular would be causing it this time of year. But again, here and there I just get mild allergy symptoms, so this could be normal and unrelated to what's happening right now.

Now, there are 3 things that have come to mind as I've been racking my brain. One, I have a bad tooth or 2 on my left lower side that really probably should've been worked on by now. Both have fillings already from years ago, have caused me a bit of pain at different times, and it's been hurting a bit recently. I took a course of antibiotics for it a couple of months ago. I think, but am not 100% sure, that the weird face itching might've seemed to be happening a bit more along the left side of my jaw last night, which of course made this come to mind. Not sure if this could be the cause.

The second thing is... I had another issue that started about a week ago. I was having weird itching in my crotch area. Just itching on the skin around the labia area, in that whole area out to where it meets the thighs, and the labia minora a bit, all with a mildly irritated feeling. I had thought that maybe it was a reaction to pads or was a yeast infection, recently got otc meds but am still not 100% sure. It isn't at its worst but isn't gone yet. It just seems very odd to me that this is another thing involving itching that happened so recently.

And third, I'm overweight and frankly don't take care of myself well in recent years, haven't been eating great recently. I've worried about the possibility of developing diabetes, especially because I have a few relatives with it. I wouldn't think the symptoms I'm having would be how untreated diabetes would show itself (aside from the possible yeast infection)? But thought I'd mention it just in case.

I'm autistic with agoraphobia and very severe anxiety/depression, so I've put off going to the doctor for a couple years. I've avoided especially the dentist, because I genuinely can not handle it. I realize how pathetic this may sound, but please withhold judgment.

I know this is an odd mess, and certainly not a situation where the cause can just be diagnosed over a post of course lol. But I just wanted any input, what are some things that could possibly cause the issues I'm having? Any opinions?

Thanks in advance

Radiologist 2nd Opinion - US Para/thyroid Images?

41F wondering if I should get a second opinion/ask for CT or sestamibi scan?

Context: US thyroid was done looking for parathyroid issues after 1) a lot of so called "wastebasket" symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, balance problems, peripheral neuropathy, acid reflux/heartburn, nausea, and constipation, and 2) a DEXA scan (for bone pain) which came back with surprise osteoporosis, leading to 3) fasting PTH and Ca test for the first time in my life.

PTH and Ca came back 64 and 10.1, with Vit D of 30. Second set of labs (not fasting/off supplements for some reason) was 52 and 9.6. 24 Hr Urine was 76mg/24hr, 2300mL. I was told everything looked completely normal, but because my complaints have included a frequently sore, tight throat without illness and occasional problems swallowing (neck seems fine on palpation), the US was done.

Report: Enlarged right lobe of thyroid gland (6.5 cm x 1.4 cm x 1.6 cm, longitudinal x AP x transverse), normal size left lobe (5.1 cm x 1.3 cm x 1.6 cm) of thyroid gland without suspicious nodules. Isthmus measures 0.3 cm. Echotexture is normal. Vascularity is normal. No parathyroid adenoma is visualized.

The technician told me that she was having trouble visualizing the parathyroids and to follow up with my doctor about a CT or sestamibi? My doctor said after reading the report that everything was normal and the parathyroids were visualized and looked fine; the thyroid enlargement is normal asymmetry; and my TPOAb is also fine (last tested at 137).

Of course, I still have all these symptoms, so I was wondering if anyone here could offer a second opinion as to whether or not the images definitively exclude a parathyroid issue as the root of these problems or if, given the full medical context, it's worth requesting additional labs or imaging?

And if they do look completely normal..... anyone has suggestions on what possibilities to consider next, I'm all ears because I'm out of ideas

Burnt hand on pan - need for doctor

I burnt my hand on a pan that was in my oven at 400 degrees. It was like a second, but immediately made a mark and the skin is raised, somewhat lighter than my skin tone, and looks leathery. Is this an indication I should see a doctor? Or will I be fine treating it at home?

Buspirone side effect question?

Been on Buspirone 15 mg since 1/8/24. Started off at 7.5, bumped it up to 15mg 1.5 months later. My eye has been twitching STILL since March. Lower lid on the right side. THEN the last 4 months my left ear has been whooshing. I’ve had an MRI, seen a ENT, EKG, chest xray. Everything is good. Dr says it’s stress/allergies. And I just don’t believe it? Google said both of these can be side effects, but would the side effects happen this much later after taking it? 2 months later for eye, and 6-7ish months for “tinnitus”?

Research on changing eating habits in patients?

I'm a medical student doing preliminary research on techniques about working with patients to improve eating habits. I've searched all the big engines like pubmed, google scholar, etc, but I can't seem to find a single journal article about the best way to alter eating habits. Has anyone come across this?

Being as its for school, anecdotal evidence will not really help. I need to give a presentation on it and am getting pretty frustrated. Thanks!

What’s wrong with me? I’m sure I have depression and anxiety, but experience various, intense physical symptoms.

I have a history of fainting spells, tachycardia, panic attacks, low and high blood pressure, blurry vision, loss of appetite, extreme fatigue, numbness in my limbs, hands, feet, fingers, toes, face. I experience heart palpitations, weakness and dizziness where I get clammy, and either hot or cold or both. I’ve experienced incontinence in every way possible, constipation, rashes, history of missed periods, ocular migraines, migraines, tingling, shaking/tremors, chest pain, stomach pain, neck/back pain, dehydration, dissociation, heartburn, globus sensation. Doctors haven’t found much amiss and can’t seem to diagnose or alleviate any of the symptoms. Any ideas, suggestions?

I bought new shoes and got my feet ripped

I bought new shoes for sports and while I was playing sports, my foot began to hurt, I got back home after an hour or two of sport and I had a large blister, basically a bubble. After a day or two I accidentally ripped the bubble and I ripped off the rest because it hurt more with the sharp skin pressing down. Would this regrow and what should I do?
