Vertigo diagnosis: Not convinced

I've been diagnosed with vertigo recently, but I'm not convinced it's only that.

In December I, F24, had a strange bout of what was diagnosed as vertigo symptoms that lasted on and off for about 4 hours.

I was fine all day, then on my way to a dinner, the world started to spin and I started to get very dizzy, to the point where I couldn't walk in a straight line.

I went back home, where, because of my dizziness I started to feel nauseous and then, because of my nausea, vomited. This cycle happened about four times before I decided to go the emergency room.

Because where I was staying had a very hot climate, they thought it might be heat stroke or vertigo and sent me back to my accommodation after a anti-nausea shot. When I came back home from my holiday, I went to my regular GP, and they diagnosed me with the vertigo.

Since then, I've had pressure in the crown of my head, my neck and behind my eyes. I also get random bouts of light headeness.

Something to be noted, is that my Mum and I suffer from migraines, and my Auntie (her sister) was recently diagnosed with Menierres disease.

Should I be concerned and ask for a MRI? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Started Wednesday evening

Been throwing up everything since Wednesday night. The only thing I ate that day was some homemade potato soup. It didn’t get really bad until Thursday evening. And then Friday I got my period and thought maybe I’m just having some weird pms symptoms…but it just seems extreme! I’ve tried eating crackers, apples, jello, oranges…been drinking water and pedialyte frozen popsicles…I keep throwing most of it back up. No fever and no diarrhea. I get dizzy and out of breath quickly.

Could this be a kidney stone or something else?

Do you think this could be a kidney stone or something else? F41. Had pain in low left abdominal area that felt like a dull ache, twitch, sharp pain when move. It would come and go. Then had light pink blood in urine when wipe for a couple days but urine looks regular mid yellow colour. Doctor thought it was uti but antibiotics did not clear it. Urine sample results came back showing no infection but some blood in urine. Took a different uti antibiotic, no pain or blood in urine when wiped for a week. Today it is now back again with the ache pain in low left abdomen and light pink blood in urine when wipe. No other symptoms, no pain when urinating and no back pain. This has been happening on/off for around 2 months now. Will get it checked.

Neurological issues

Hi! I’m 19, biologically female and have epilepsy. Throughout my life i’ve had small annoying problems like shaky hands, bad memory or memory loss and forgetting words. It seems to be getting worse as I get older. Is this normal? I have had a brain scan done when they looked for a brain tumour and there was none. My grandfather died aged 60 while his body stopped functioning one by one until it was just his lungs left. Does this sound like anything hereditary? Ive been trying to figure out what he died of but that is the only information I have to go off of. Mostly i’m just wondering if there is any disorder I could’ve gotten from my grandfather or maybe I have something entirely different which is not hereditary. I live in Europe so expenses aren’t a huge issue but I do have bad social anxiety so I only go to hospitals in really severe cases which is why i’m asking here first. Thank you!

Skin irritation on "neck" of shaft

For a few weeks I have had skin irritation in groin area. First week it was swollen and irritated, then the skin dried and started irritating more. Anyone know what this could be. Walk-in has not been able to diagnose what's going on but my skin is sensitive and gets irritated easy.

Husband illness

Trying to figure out if my husband is seriously ill and needing medical attention- it’s 1.am and I woke to him shivering so hard he was shaking our entire bed- house is 68 degrees so not cold (we normally sleep at this temp or cooler)

Symptoms started this week:

-3-4 days ago complained of upset stomach, could not eat that day and everything went straight through him (still going straight through him)

-2-3 days ago began eating again- he is in the bathroom within 10 minutes of every meal and every few hours
-complaining of being cold last 24 hrs. He’s been drinking liquid iv

  • last 20 minutes complaining it’s arctic cold, aggressively shivering - I got him a glass of orange juice thinking low blood sugar from being sick? And he immediately threw it all up.

I’m at a loss. His temperature is totally normal and he’s acting normal otherwise.

Is he dying and in need of hospitalization or (/s) is this a new strain of “man flu” ?

i feel like i go through “episodes” that only last for 30 mins-3 hours.

i keep trying to figure out what this could possibly be. i feel like i’m going insane.

i am 19f, diagnosed with adhd and on 30mg vyvanse medication. all of these symptoms have happened BEFORE i started going on medication in november. so i don’t think it has anything to do with that. my medication mostly just makes me slightly more anxious, i have a smaller appetite, and dry mouth. i am also 155lbs at 5’4’ if that helps with anything. i am also in canada, with a very dismissive family doctor.

for the 6 months or so (possibly before that?) i’ve been starting to have really bad mood swings. like, i feel good one moment, then for seemingly no i reason i get irrationally annoyed, not at anything in particular, it just happens. or i get angry, or i get depressed. but this happens everyday, multiple times a day. when i get annoyed or angry, i don’t lash out at people. i put in effort to try to not show people that i’m irritated, i don’t want to push that onto them, especially since there’s literally no reason i’m annoyed. i don’t have anger outbursts and i don’t yell at people either.

i’ve tried looking into traits/symptoms of different mental health disorders but none of them fit exactly. bipolar II fits me from an overview perspective, but any “mania” or “depressive episode” i have doesn’t usually last more than a day.

bpd matches some of my symptoms too, but i don’t have any dangerous behaviour, i don’t have the urge/don’t sh (despite occasionally getting sh and dying thoughts from my mood swings) i don’t have anger outbursts, i don’t have “favourite people” and i’m not impulsive. i do get similar feelings if that’s the word? where i have an extremely unstable self image and sense of self. i do have a fear of abandonment. and i do feel “empty” a lot of the time. but again, i’m not impulsive, which is almost the entire point of the disorder.

all of this IS impacting my interactions with my family, though. the random irritation and anger, random sadness. i’ll withdraw myself because i don’t want to accidentally express it or be seen as “bad”. so i’m quiet 90% of the time and they’ve definitely noticed.

i feel like a ticking time bomb sometimes because i have no idea what my mood is going to be. the only other possibility that i have actually researched is hypothyroidism. which i do have physical symptoms for, extremely dizzy standing up, cold most of the time, constipation, difficulty losing weight (before going on my medication), and tiredness. but i have seen that if it’s left untreated it can cause mood swings and depressive symptoms. but i have no clue if that’s what it could actually be. my research could be wrong and unfounded.

here’s a tldr/rundown of all symptoms:

-daily reoccurring mood swings usually lasting 30mins-3 hours -depressive symptoms -some mood swings are similar to mania but don’t last very long, or if they do, it’s both “mania” and depressive symptoms -unstable self image and sense of self -tiredness/fatigue -extremely dizzy standing up, almost passing out occasionally (i have tried iron pills and they have not helped) -constipation -sensitive to cold and other temperatures

i don’t know how many people this will reach if at all, but if you can think of anything please let me know, it’s greatly appreciated!

Ate undercooked chicken Monday evening, began vomiting Wednesday. ER claims bug. 21M

Ate undercooked chicken Monday evening, began vomiting Wednesday. ER claims bug. 21M

After eating the undercooked chicken, I experienced slight nausea and extreme bloating from Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening, I assumed this was just physiological. Wednesday evening I suffered from intense stomach pain and then non stop vomiting. Probably about 20 times in 3 hours. I ended up going to the ER Wednesday night due to the nonstop vomiting.

I ended up getting an Abdomen Xray along with blood tests, here are the results.

Xray: XAMINATION: XR ABDOMEN 2 VIEWS WITH CHEST 1 VIEW HISTORY: ORDERING SYSTEM PROVIDED HISTORY: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea COMPARISON: Chest x-ray 11/17/2024 TECHNIQUE: Frontal chest x-ray. Supine and upright views of the abdomen. FINDINGS: No pneumothorax, pleural effusion or focal airspace consolidation. Heart is normal in size. There is a paucity of small bowel gas. There are scattered air-fluid levels in the right hemiabdomen and along the transverse colon. No subdiaphragmatic free intraperitoneal air. No acute osseous abnormalities.

Blood tests: all normal besides: 110 mg/dl glucose 14 U/L Lipase 8.6 g/dl total protein 5.3 g/dl albumin 1.5 mg/dl bilirubin 14.40 K/McL WBC 13.00 K/McL Neutrophils Abs .41 K/McL Lymphocytes Abs

Are these not concerning? My research says otherwise.

Do these tests back up the stomach flu claim? Would food poisoning from undercooked chicken show anything different? Do my tests conclude it is some sort of infection?

Oddly enough, I have not vomited since the time I arrived at the hospital. I have had on and off diarrhea with lots of gas.

I did not run a fever Wednesday evening. I woke up with a fever and headache on Thursday, which continued through the day. I feel like I have been hit by a truck. I don't want to move.

It is now Friday afternoon, I am no longer running a fever but my stomach is slightly bothering me again. If it is the chicken vs a stomach bug, would I be treated the same? The doctor claimed yes, but isn't the bacteria in raw chicken extremely concerning? Wouldn't I need antibiotics?

Anyways, considering I ate undercooked chicken in the last 48 hours leading up to my symptoms, wouldn't you assume that is causing my symptoms? Or wouldn't you at least rule out the worst first?

TLDR: Ate undercooked chicken, showed symptoms of gastroenteritis. Is an antibiotic necessary? Is my bloodwork not concerning?

Tonsil and sinus pain everyday for months

Hey, I’ve been struggling with almost daily tonsils and sinus pain for the past 4-5 months. Since mid October 2024 almost everyday sometimes in early afternoon sometimes in the evening I’ll get horrible pain in my tonsils and ear. It feels like bad swelling, my ears hurt and get pressure, sometimes feels like the area under/ behind my eyes are swollen. I use allergy nose spray almost every, doesn’t make a difference. I do vape but I stopped for a week to see if that was the source, didn’t make a difference. I have a peanut/ tree nut allergy but I’m very careful so I don’t think it’s related. I moved to Seattle in august so thinking maybe it’s something in the air out here, but it over the holidays , I left Seattle for 3 weeks 1 weekend in nyc, 2 in Atlanta, and 1 in Mexico and I still felt symptoms there. I’ve been to two doctors, the first said to use a netti pot, didn’t make a difference. I went to an ent yesterday who told me to try pepcid and allergy medicine and wait for an allergist to call me. I feel like I’m going crazy the pain/ discomfort is basically unbearable. Has anyone felt this before? Any advice?

Mental illness and debilitating stomach issues

I have had severe anxiety from a young age. Diagnosed with depression (major) around 11. I’ve recently discovered that I suffer from PTSD from an abusive childhood, as well as being run over 4 1/2 years ago. I have PCOS as well as achalasia (had corrective surgery but things still get stuck in my throat). The past 10 years I’ve been suffering from a debilitating stomach issue. It started with cramps around my chest, stretching only worsens this so I hop in the shower. The cramps will dissipate but I’m left with severe discomfort from throat to groin, my stomach feels like it’s pulsing I hiccup a lot and they turn into burps. I will feel nauseous and sometimes throw up. I sometimes make myself vomit to feel better. I also get constipation during these episodes. These episodes can last minutes, hours, days, weeks or months. I don’t get the cramps so much anymore, but I am sick almost every single day. Feeling hunger makes me ill, feeling pressure in my rectum to go to the bathroom makes me ill, the bowel movement itself makes me ill, terrible menstrual cramps make me ill. No meds have helped so far. I can spend a ton of time in the shower trying to feel better. When I was run over and put into the hospital, I was sick almost 5-6 months (a couple good days here and there). I’ve been to emergency and have had multiple tests (told I was a mystery) docs are upping antidepressants and prescribing anti-psychotics (don’t help). Nurses have told me I should be on disability (this has been very hard for me to ask for proper help with this mentally, and not all docs take the situation seriously (new one seems to) but I’ve been told I’m too young g to be disabled and such. I can hardly leave the house, I can’t eat in public at a restaurant with my husband, I can’t go out for holiday meals or take long trips. I can’t do much of anything because I am sick multiple times a day and can’t be far from a shower and my couch and a bucket, lots of water and ice. I don’t know what to do and my husband is at his wits end dealing with me bing sick constantly! Any ideas?

Some sort of infection maybe

I usually bite at the skin on my fingers and yesterday I took way too much off. It started to bleed very bad so I put a bandaid on it and forgot about it for about 24 or so hours, when I took it off all the skin around it was white kind of resembling a blister and smelled like decaying flesh (not just the smell bandaids leave this was about 5x worse) im not sure if I should be worried or not about it, and not sure what I should do to treat it

Emotional rollercoaster 25F

Constant cycles of high highs and low lows. I know I do not have bipolar because the “episodes” don’t last long enough. I would say they last between 1-7 days. The high highs I have a feeling of being on top of the world, my mind is completely clear, and I feel joyful, untouchable, almost god like. I dance, sing, enjoy my hobbies, and plan all of these things I want to do. Make lists, plans, very detailed. Then I crash, and go into a low low where either I have very low energy, get sick, or just feel very down and depressed, insecure, no interests in my hobbies. Barely can bring myself to do anything I planned on doing. Very exhausting and I do not want to get on medication as I’m functioning. I live a very holistic and healthy lifestyle and I’m managing. But the instability is very exhausting. It feels like I have 2 separate brains. I haven’t found a correlation to my menstrual cycle / hormones yet btw. Help

37M Burning lung pain, coughing, and Low Grade Fever tonight

Age - 37 Sex - M

Length of complaint - last 8-12 hours

There are a lot of different upper respiratory illnesses going around at work (in an office) to the point where it seems everyone has been sick in the last week. Even last weekend I was sick with something else, but it was mild.

Last week two coworkers being out with rsv. Both back in the office the last 4 days, about 5 or 6 days after they got sick.

This morning woke up with burning lung pain and didn't think much of it due to living with gerd.

In the last 8 hours I've started to cough and in the last 3 hours I have developed a low grade fever of 100.3.

Which virus may cause the burning lung pain? Asking someone with asthma who also smokes cigarettes, what should I watch for when it comes to when I may need to visit urgent care?

I'm trying my best to hold off on Advil until right before bed. I know a low grade fever helps the body beat whatever virus this is.
