We are driving from SF to SD over six days. Stops are Half Moon Bay, Carmel, and Pismo Beach, with 1 more night needed between PB and SB.

Torn between Malibu or Laguna — want luxe and as close to the beach as possible, like “hear the waves as you sleep” close. I love the Malibu Beach Inn, but can’t use travel points for it — considering a beachfront Airbnb….?

Worth noting the night will be July 3 so traffic and/or fireworks potential to consider, would NOT want to hear fireworks all night :)

I'm hoping to spend some time here on Saturday but couldn't find much info about parking. Are parking permits required?

Also, wanted to ask how concerned I should be about rattlesnakes and coyotes. I feel like rattlesnakes are everywhere right now and am not the best at being calm around them.

We are looking for a bar/restaurant of sorts for a group of gal pals celebrating a night out. We are hoping to find a spot that’s pretty laid back and not fancy because we’ll most likely be dressed in some crazy theme (shrek lol). Hoping you all might have some suggestions?

About 6 years ago I tried the best piece of meat in my entire life alongside the best homemade sauce. I have been trying to find this person again but have no idea what his name was or where he is located. The only thing I remember is driving by Malibu and making a pitstop at a shoulder. Here there was a food truck with ceviche, a person selling bonsai trees, and this man with a large charcoal grill and a blackboard with the menu. This man gave us a small sample. And when I tell you it was jaw dropping it absolutely was. We went ahead and bought a plate for, idk $25. It was absolutely amazing and I have been craving this every year since. If anyone has any info I would absolute appreciate it!!! Thanks please ase help me find this amazing cook.

The traffic is so horrendous and they have not tried to clear it at all. Anyone know when they’re planning to clear it? Or who I can contact to ask they hurry up? It’s made my commute 3x longer than normal and I can’t take it anymore!

We found a 14k white gold wedding band in the parking lot of the Sandstone Peak trailhead. It's inscribed with R❤️D 2018. If you're looking for it, we left it on the cement parking curb about three spots over from the bathroom.

Back in 2010-2014 I visited Malibu on several occasions. Somewhere off PCH toward the southern end of town, there was a sprawling Thrift Store. It wound through an old house, and outside, possibly through some sheds as well. There was a police procedural drama that filmed a chase scene through it at some point (my recollection is it was Criminal Minds, but it could have been an NCIS).

I am pretty sure it is gone now, but I am wondering if any locals can give me the name of it, what happened to it, and maybe even a cross street so I can find the place it used to be on a map.

We lose power for hours/days regularly. Multiple times a year we have to replace all the food in the fridge because it rots. Does anyone else go through this? How do you keep food for days without power? I can’t afford solar and ice packs just don’t keep it cold enough.

It’s particularly frustrating because I have no cell service either. So when the wifi is out I’m basically off the grid. It’s just crazy in 2024 Malibu how often this happens.

Very familiar with the area but that was yrs ago when I moved out is there must do things to do … I know the basics like malibu seafood and zuma beach but what else can I check out while I’m there?

I was wondering if anyone would share their favorite restaurants (family owned, lunch, sushi, steak, dinner, happy hour for drinks or oysters, fine dining, casual, literally anything!). Will be visiting for five days and driving to L.A. as well. I’ve found some nice cafes, places for friend fish, Cuban food, but struggling to decide on somewhere a little more fancier but wouldn’t brake the bank too much and that would have steaks.

Also- what is the best place to get a lobster roll from?

Hello, has anyone ever been on a charter through marina del Rey sport fishing? Reviews look good and price seems good. Debating between 1/2 day and 3/4 day charter. Any other companies you recommend looking at? Thanks!

Any places in Malibu area that are good for beach fires? I know most places don’t allow but are there any local spots that people know that would work? ie the times I’ve been to Leo Carrillo there’s almost always coals and remnants of a fire.

Doing some underwater filming at the end of the month and am looking for a place to shoot with very calm water so the cast/crew can work without getting knocked over. Anyone know of a good spot? Thank you!
