/r/SFV - subreddit for the 818 - San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, CA
If you're interested in the many obscured gems around the San Fernando Valley, you're in the right subreddit.
From Glendale to Calabasas, we are “The Valley.” Home to Universal Studios & Citywalk, Mission San Fernando, NoHo Arts District, Van Nuys Japanese Garden, O'Melveny Park, Warner Brothers, NBC, CBS and Disney (ABC) studios. We produce and film nearly 90% of all legally distributed pornographic films made in the United States…and we like it that way.

What are your favorite date night style restaurants in the SFV or Northridge area? Looking for something with a good atmosphere (doesn’t need to be fancy), good food, and good cocktails.
Just wondering because they both have 88 and I don’t know the significance of the number.
Thanks

Just Looking for the yearbook thanks.
Want 8 new doors for my laundry closet. Not standard sizes. The custom cabinet companies say it's too small of a job for them to deal with. I totally understand.
I had 'a guy' who made doors in his garage, did a beautiful job for kitchen, but he's since moved to Arizona :'(
Supposedly since like 2022 they were gonna demolish it to make way for condos and some retail, no? But 2 years later and no signs of change. Does anyone know what’s going on with that?
What's the story with this place? Is it ever open? It looks newly painted and I'm more than interested but it always looks closed. On Lake Manor Dr?
I know this sounds completely ridiculous and very very sad. But i just cant take in anymore and i have tried every app and going out to meet people in bars. Is someone on Reddit interested in Dating or at least being friends and see where it leads? Anything would help or work. I am tried of just being all alone. Hopefully i dont sound as desperate as i think i am
I’ve had Salata, Whole Foods and Gelsons. Any other salad bars in the valley?
Thank you!
Do any of you get accommodation's, especially with taking tests, through the SSD office, and are you also taking classes at another college? If so, what is the test taking procedure at the other school?
I'm asking, because I'm also taking classes at College of the Canyons, in Valencia, and I notice that their test taking procedure way different than at Valley.
At COC, I would have to give the accommodation letters to my teachers as usual. But as the test time gets closer, all I have to do is remind my teacher to send the test over to the tutoring center, where I would take my test. And from there, all I have to do is show up on the day of the test, check in at the test, and I go to a room where there's a proctor with other students taking their tests for other classes. Basically, there's no worry about scheduling the test five days in advance or anything like that. As long as the teacher sends them the test, all I have to do is show up the day of. And a lot of times, I don't always have to show up at the time that my class is taking the test. Sometimes, I can just go in anytime before they close at the end the day. I think that depends on the teacher though. I don't remember.
Anyway, if you go to another school, other than LAVC, and you get test taking accommodations, is the procedure different at the other school?
Tarzana treatment center, they seem to be a branch and have 3 locations that does mental healthcare/outpatient care, atleast from what I've gathered.. They have one in Northridge, Reseda and Woodland Hills. I won't post their #'s here you can just look them up online. But they're a bit too confusing, their locations atleast...
So if you have Medi-Cal with adjacent co providers (I think that's what they're called?) such as Healthnet (I think it's merging with Molina?) Molina, LA Care & Blue Cross. If you're earning under 50k a year, you are linked or automatically assigned to one of the three. I used to have Blue Cross but chose LA Care as they seem to be accepted by more PCPs and psych clinics. And their service is not that bad.
The issue you'll come across with is the long wait or long service times. I mean, this is pretty much free healthcare but if you're especially seeking for therapy or mental health service, it's not too complicated. Here are other clinics that you can call up (if you're under Medi-cal + provider).
West Valley mental health in chatsworth. I really had a very mixed experience with them. They seem to get psychiatrists or therapists who just do not give a inkling, and for someone who has had PTSD (overseas work) it was hard to work with them and eventually switched out.
Encino ACP health & wellness. This is in Encino, I don't know if they're good or not.
Other places, Bridges Trust it's in Woodland Hills. There's also Java Psych who a friend recommended but I'm not sure they accept Medi-Cal + free provider.
Help to those struggling, so you basically sign-up for Medi-Cal IF you are eligible through one of the three providers. Why are there 3 other providers? I don't know.. But once you're accepted, any of the mentioned centers can get you in. The big issue that you or I have to come through with is the long service, I mean it's a free service anyway. Don't just go in because you want your adderall tweaking supply, you really need to have a reason, if you're in college a letter from their psych/therapist will give you a strong case especially if you're really a severe adhd sufferer or have any other issues such as PTSD. The group sessions I used to join in really helped me and managing my adhd through sessions as well as medication helped me get through college & well into my working life. Anyway, hope this helps. Add what you think I'm missing, here to get corrected I don't know everything that's why I wrote this.
Anyone here go to one? Anyone can vouch for one?
Hi! Could anyone recommend oral surgeons they've enjoyed working with in the valley? I'm hoping to get my wisdom teeth extracted soon.
Is there any shop like this in the 818?
I’ve been to a couple of locations and most I haven’t been lucky to find anything that great. I did venture out to the SCV and tried the canyon country one which was pretty good and nicely organized, but there has to be a good one in the 818 right?
does anyone have a recommendation for a mani/pedicurist? i get a gel pedi & dip mani. same shape & color every time. i tip well and come regularly
i live in studio city so closer is best but im willing to travel
i've had a lot of trouble with someone who is consistent in results and availability
What is going on this week in the 818?
Just have a college related photography project, anyone have a pillow case type of backdrop (the stretchy one) and with a solid color you want to get rid of? Or can lend rent? Thanks.
How is the quality of product they have there and are there any specialty in season products. I’ve been on the hunt for ramps (very similar to green onion), but I can’t find any.
Thank you!
Really hoping they do something with that building after 99 closes. It looks awful. Really depressing driving by with the amount of trash and graffiti. Anyone know if there are any improvement plans on Van Nuys in general? I feel like it’s wasted potential.
Hey guys, looking to see if anyone has any recommendations. We are looking to remodel a portion of our house, but have no idea who to contact to start getting it going. Was hoping someone out here might have some recommendations for anyone they might’ve used
Any one know where I can find a raspado person that sells an Arroz flavor?? I used to buy it from a guy near Telfair Elementary but I haven’t had any luck locating him there anymore 😢
This guy was road raging a poor lady on Reseda and Valerio and then proceeded to try to fight the man in the white car. Well no, the jeep guy fled like the pussy he is once it got real. If you know jeep guy tell him to calm the fuck down.
Born and raised, I’ve never heard anyone refer to it as just ‘Sherman’,
Is that just my bubble or do we all say Sherman Way every time?
Read a news article where the reporter referred to the corner of Sherman and x street and that it really threw me off.
I'll stop bitching about single engine planes on the weekend (not really) 👀
