Help me to decide the Mainboard!

Hey MSI community,

I need your Help! 🤝🏽🙏🏼

I’m a content creator and I’m having a hard time deciding between the MSI X670E Carbon WiFi and the X670E Ace. My current setup includes an RTX 4090, a Ryzen 9 7950X3D, and 64GB of DDR5-6000MHz RAM. My entire PC configuration can be found here: PCPartPicker.

I need to replace my motherboard with an MSI model because my current one has a defective chip. The Ace looks amazing and seems to have great features, but is it worth the price?

Prices here in Europe:

x670e Ace = 800€(860$) x670e Carbon WiFi = 460€(500$)

Considering the price, I want to ensure that my system is future-proof and that I won’t encounter any issues with potential upgrades like a 5090 or new SSDs. Currently, I’m using 2 x 2TB SSDs, and I plan to add more in the future.

I need at least 8 USB ports and possible more in the future too.

I would really appreciate any advice or personal experiences you could share to help me make the right choice.

Thanks in advance!

LATEST BIOS FOR B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI CAUSES BSOD FOR MY SYSTEM!

I have a Ryzen 7800x3d, rtx 4080 system. Before the update, everything was just fine and super stable but because I am an idiot I suddenly decided to update the BIOS from 7D75v1E to 7D75v1G and boom! Windows gives "Kernel Security Check Failure" BSOD on the desktop every time. Interestingly, this BSOD does not occurs when I do some heavy task or gaming. Anyway if you guys having blue screens with this BIOS, give it a try to rollback.

Confused about max RAM compatibility about the X470 GAMING PRO CARBON, does it support 64GB or 128GB RAM?

I am building a home server with the X470 GAMING PRO CARBON and an Ryzen 5 3600, which role is gonna be an hypervisor and i would benefit from having 128GB RAM to create more VMs. But i am kinda confused on which source i should trust. On their website, in the compatibility section, it states it supports 4x 32GB DIMMs with my CPU, ive marked it in the first screenshot. But on the otherhand, the documentation about this board says, it supports up to 64GB RAM and also referrse to the compatibility page. Which statement should it trust? Also has anyone tried going for 128GB, if so, how did it went? Thanks in advance.

It supports 128GB with 4x32GB?

Max 64GB supported, but also referrse to the section about the other screenshot ive made

MSI G244F E2 Panel Bit Depth

Does the MSI G244F E2 Monitor have true 8-bit color depth? or is it 6-bit + FRC ? Wanted to confirm as 'displayspecifications' says it's 8-bit with no FRC and most monitors at this price segment do use 6-bit + FRC.
https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/c6d135f2
I'm looking for a true 8-bit monitor, so thought I'd ask a trusted source.

Also, would it have accurate color calibration out of the box for creative coloring needs?

[Fixed] MSI B650m Project Zero “No Wi-Fi Networks Found” issue resolved.

Finally found the solution to a strange issue I was having with my PC not being able to detect any networks, so I thought I’d make a post in case anyone encounters this in the future.

Recently, my PC randomly stopped being able to detect any Wi-Fi networks. Just powered it on one morning and poof, wasn’t able to find any networks. Within the WiFi tab, there was just a message that said “no wifi networks found.” I troubleshooted to oblivion, trying everything from deleting and reinstalling drivers, a network reset, a motherboard BIOS update, and even a fresh windows install. Watched countless videos and read thread after threat but nobody else’s solutions were working for me. I decided to try taking my GPU out (Radeon RX6750XT) and suddenly my WiFi was back and working again. I have no idea why my GPU would have been preventing my PC from detecting wireless networks, but low and behold, removing it seemed to fix my issue. Completed some updates with the GPU out and then inserted it again. WiFi continued working after I put my GPU back in.

I have no clue if this will work for other people having this issue, but thought I’d make a post in case it helps someone else in the future who is looking for a solution.

My PC specs: MSI B650m project zero, AMD 7800X3D, Radeon RX 6750XT, 32gb DDR5 6000mhz CL30.

Stealth 16 AI V1FG Terrible Frame Rates

I recently purchased a Stealth 16 AI V1FG (i9 with RTX 4060). I did a full wipe and reinstall of everything, getting drivers from the MSI website and updating the latest Nvidia drivers.

I get about 8FPS on BG3, Horizon : FW, and Assassins Creed : Odyssey. On an older game like Titan Quest I get 13FPS. My older GT60 performed better on TQ than this new laptop.

I know something is misconfigured, but I can't figure out what. I have MSI Center installed, and I tracked CPU and GPU temperatures while running and nothing overheats. Everything works great in Windows and the performance is good there. Just in these games.

Problem with an old Mobo

Hi everyone, I have an old motherboard that my aunt gave me. It's an MSI K9AGM3. Problem is, it doesn't want to turn on. When I connect a power supply, the orange light on the lan port keeps flashing, and I can't turn it on by clicking the power button. There are no fans spinning, not even from the power supply. I have this Mobo currently beside me with everything disconnected. Only thing that's plugged in is the power supply. The orange light's been flashing for about 10 minutes now. Also, I tried to test the power supply by powering it on with a paperclip, and it seems to work fine. Anyone knows what might be the problem?

MSI Mystic Lights not detected/working

Hi, I've been trying to get MSI Mystic Lights to work on my old X370 Gaming Pro Carbon. I downloaded the MSI center and tried installing Mystic Lights through the features, but it did not show up. Based on some posts I found I did multiple "delete everything and download -- version" runs, but none of them made Mystic Lights show up. Another post said to download the MSI Gaming App through the Utility page from the MSI website, but the Utility page doesn't show anything anymore besides Nahimic and SteelSeriesEngine. I also tried changing the RGB through Open RGB but the motherboard is not detected. Is there any way to still change the RGB on this board?

Installing new M.2 doesn't boot into windows

My motherboard is an MSI MMPGZ490 Gaming Edge Wifi. I already have one M.2 installed into the first slot. But installing a new one into the second slot would give me an error message. Going into bios, my OS drive says its remapping. I looked at the manual and noticed where it says if a certain sata is used, certain ones aren't available. So I rearranged my satas accordingly. Still, I get the error. Can someone help?

valorant high fps=high ping' low fps=low ping

Anybody experienced in valorant having a high fps will also have high ping, or low fps with low ping? i dont know if this is a bug in valorant or my msi laptop but when my laptop is charging, i have a high fps 144-240 (with or without v-sync) but will result to an unplayable ping of 100-3k random values. But when i remove the charger i have 30 fps locked but also 19-21 ping. Valorant is the only app installed in my laptop. Am using MSI gf63 thin 3050 i5 10400h.

Stuck on MSI screen at boot up

TLDR: computer stuck on screen showing “MSI” and nothing else.

Hoping to get some tips here for next steps.

I’m upgrading my PC from AM4 to AM5. I purchased the bundle available at MicroCenter with the MSI B650p motherboard, Ryzen 7 7700x, and G.SKILL 32G 2X D5 6000 RAM.

First issue I had was that it failed post with debug lights showing for the CPU and RAM. I switched which slots had the RAM sticks, which resolved that issue.

Now the computer is turning on and seems to post fine, no debug lights turn on. But it’s not booting up. It boots to a screen showing MSI in the center and nothing else. No loading indicator or anything.

I’ve tried:

  1. Restarting
  2. Giving it an hour
  3. Making sure the boot drive is recognized in BIOS
  4. Flashed the BIOS

I’m out of ideas at this point.

Is msi stealth 14 studio really worth it (Requiring a 14 inch laptop to travel and content creation + gaming.)

I was checking on laptops and i landed on msi, i saw the stealth 14 studio and i really liked the specs, but i am not sure if there are any better laptops than the msi stealth 14 studio that could do content creation and game very well at the same time?

Is the display cable in the monitor box not good enough to output at QHD 180Hz?

The HBR3 cable included in the box for the monitor has the option to use 180Hz, but when I play a game which is outputting at 180Hz, the monitor suddenly turns off. It seems to be only when playing games at 180Hz. If I turn it down to 144Hz everything works fine.

I then tried a HDMI cable, and that seems to be capped out at QHD 144Hz. Im assuming I buy a better quality HBR3 cable from amazon, is it because the one in the box isn't great?

Or is it because my GPU (RTX 2060 Desktop) isn't powerful enough to output at 180Hz QHD continuously which is my monitor suddenly turns off at times?

Issue with volume level on external speakers

I recently bought the optix G271CP monitor which does not have built in speakers but does have a headphone jack. I only use the monitor for Netflix, my ps5 and switch. I have the logitech z150 speakers however when plugged in properly, the sound level is very low even when out on the speakers max level. Is there a speaker that works better for the G271CP or is there a price I need to up the power coming from the monitor to the speakers?

CPU light on B550 motherboard help

Hello. I’ve been going crazy trying to figure this out:

I have a MPG B550 Gaming Plus motherboard with everything installed; CPU, GPU, ram, drives all plugged in. Pc turns on and off well but there’s no display and I’m getting the CPU debug light.

Because I can’t get a display I’m trying to flash bios with the button on the back.

I’m using a 16gb usb stick. I press the flash bios button while eveything is off. The red light flashes immediately and then everything turns on (psu, cpu fan, ram, etc). Red light flashes for a while.

Am I doing this correctly? The bios is supposed to update within like 10 mins but it’s been longer than that. Any help is greatly appreciated

New Beta BIOS for MSI PRO Z790-A WIFI - Includes "Intel Default Settings"

https://i.imgur.com/h8ZAc51.png

Has anyone tried the new beta BIOS for MSI motherboards? I specifically have the PRO Z790-A WIFI board, but I'm sure this beta BIOS is out for a bunch of other MSI motherboards too. According to MSI's Support page for the PRO Z790-A WIFI board, the BIOS was released 4 days ago on May 15th, 2024. The previous day, a non-beta BIOS was released, but the changelog only lists "Improve memory compatibility."

I'm more interested in the beta BIOS though because the changelog states:

- Replaced MSI's own tweaked system power settings with added Intel Default Settings, and users can still optimize system performance with alternatives from MSI.

I'm very curious what they've changed in the BIOS if you enable Intel's Default Settings. I know I've watched videos from Buildzoid on YouTube and he talked about testing out motherboard's from other manufacturer's that put out beta BIOSs for Intel's Default Settings and he wasn't impressed with most of what he tested. So I'm curious if MSI got it right or not. If anyone has tested the new BIOS and the Intel Default Settings, do tell!

MSI Center

I just upgraded my MB from an AsRock to the MSI Thomahawk MAX Wifi. So naturally I uninstall all my AsRock MB support hub and polychrome and try to install MSI Center. Except I can’t. After it finishes the install it says “restart MSI Center and click ‘ok’” or something to that affect. I restart MSI Center and I’m stuck in an infinite loop of it installing and telling me to restart and click ok.

I’ve restarted computer. I’ve clean uninstalled all MSI programs I’ve ever had along with AsRock programs. All drivers are updated. I’ve used open as Admin. I tried installing it from the Microsoft play store thing too instead of just unzipping and installing the program from the MSI website (I tried both.) And same issue.

Is this a common issue?
