Stripped all the way up to a 3/8 extension
not sure how it happened I bought it like this. wondering If is something I can fix myself
I’m looking for a mini. Always wanted an early version with the supercharger. How much should I be looking at paying for such an example, and should I be worried about dependability with this model and year? TIA.
Hello, I have a 2010 R56 Mini Cooper S, that has suddenly stopped working. There is almost no compression in all 4 cylinders. The night before it ran perfectly fine and the years I had it, it ran into almost no issues except a water pump replacement. It was regularly maintained and I took very good care of it. The battery is working fine and it does attempt to start, but the cylinders have very little compression (and each one gave different readings). Any advice on probable causes/fixes and any tips or guides/manuals would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all! I love this car and would like to keep it, but sometimes that's not always the best option.
My R61 2013 Paceman S is idling roughly (juddering), with slightly unstable RPM. Otherwise runs fine.
Is it the cam solenoid, or a vacuum problem? What to look into first?
My car has had timing chain and pulleys replaced some time ago.
My son was out walking in L.A. today and saw this MINI with this odd contraption. He says it looks like a gauge of some sort and that it seems integral with the bonnet. Any clues?
Hi everyone :) So I have been having this mysterious leak that is a very constant drip. (it literally trails while I drive slowly) The leak is coming from the passenger side but from above the water pump. Originally I thought it was the water pump so I replaced it. The car still leaked so I sent it to a shop. They said the leak came up when they pressure tested it but they could not find the leak. So they tore a bunch of stuff apart and inspected everything. They said all the parts look fine and put it back together. Then they pressure tested it again and the leak was gone. When I got it back there was no leak for about a week then all of a sudden, low antifreeze/overheating light came on. My only guess is maybe the heater core. Any one else have any idea?
Looking for honest feedback. Have a pepper white 2 door hardtop. Thinking about these rims on them. What do you think?
Taking it to a Mini collision center tomorrow. Literally everything else is functioning and it drives. Three airbags deployed and the rest is external damage. Hoping it's not a total loss. 2018 Cooper S. Never knew they could spin midair and fly.
I drive a 2007 mini cooper s hatchback 2D, and when I fill gas tank it only fills up to here. Does anyone know why or if I should get it checked out?
For about 5 weeks my 2011 countryman (petrol auto) has been sounding and acting like almost a completely different car.
Very occasionally when I accelerate there is a slight fluttering sound from the engine area, apart from that the engine is just being so much louder.
My revs are also sitting so much higher as well. Like now when I drive at 70mph they’re at 3000+ but they used to only be at 2200.
It’s the same with other speeds expect not quite as drastic as that. I’ve taken it to several mechanics and has a major service done on it at Halfords (yes I know that’s probs a mistake) but it they all say it’s fine and I should just keep driving it.
It also backfires sometimes when I drive as well.
It’s defo not fine, otherwise it would be driving the same as it did 5 weeks ago.
Any help would be massively appreciated?
(I’ve narrowed it down to coil packs or the timing chain has jumped a tooth: I am no mechanic tho)
Hey y’all. Years ago I had an ‘03 R53 and it was the most fun vehicle I’ve ever owned. That said, I only had it for about 20,000 miles, so I can’t say how reliable it was. Now, I’m looking to get my wife a newer (but still used) vehicle.
What years should be avoided in terms of reliability? For reference, I’m driving an FJ Cruiser with 195,000 miles on it, and my wife’s current vehicle is a Honda Fit with 160,000.
Lastly, is it still somewhat doable to DIY your own maintenance? I do all fluid changes, I replaced the Fit’s condenser and recharged the AC, etc. Biggest troubles I’ve had with doing my own maintenance has been with suspension work.
Thanks, everyone!
Two r53’s in my two favorite colors.
Hi all
Bought my mini about a year ago now and it’s had a few issues since (solenoid valves have been replaced) but this is the current situation!
When sitting in traffic and moving off with low revs the car pushes out whitish blue smoke. I have had a major service and an emissions test done in January and it’s just passed its MOT with no advisories last week.
I was told at the time of the service there was inconsistent blue smoke but no oil leaks.
Coolant level is bang on in the middle and I regularly check my oil. I use 5w40 grade as it’s thicker and allows for better compression. Seemed to help for a while but now the smoke is more consistent (one thought was now it’s summer the car is much warmer).
I’ve been told about the engine design and the piston rings can ovulate and can blow back.
I’m trying to find the solution, would I need to try changing the piston rings? I imagine this is a labour intensive task as most things are with mini so I’d like to figure out the problem before trying a bunch of things and it not fix the issue.
Hey guys Does anybody know what part this is. It’s on the back right side behind the wheel cover thingy
I drive a 2013 mini cooper convertible. Yesterday my fiance and I went to her grandmothers (a ten minute drive), and spent a few hours there. We left and drove another 5 minutes to her parents house to grab something. We were inside maybe 3 minutes. When we come back out, my car wouldn’t react when the fob is inserted and won’t start. When the key fob is inserted, the “start” button lights up, but the brake doesn’t decompress, and the car will not start or turn. I do not have a manual key ignition either unfortunately to see if that’s the issue. The lights work, and it’s not a battery issue as I went ahead and got a replacement as the first step.
Any help is appreciated.
I’m going to be getting a mini cooper a 2 door convertible so I was wondering if there was any different between the cars from 2021 and 2024/2025
Or it should be fully disassembled and maybe some plastic changed? I’m talking mainly about geometry and mounts, paint and crack is another question. 🫣
I was away from my car for about a week and when I get back in town and drive down the road to the store the car started fine however once I parked and turned the car off the radiator fan kept running and now the car will not start it is a 2012 r56 Mini, after about couple of minutes the fan finally turns off and Im able to start the car again but the same issue arises once I try turn it off and try to start it again, the break pedal is firm as well. I am not really familiar with many car issues, I could only imagine its a relay but I am not sure, does anyone here happen to know the issue?
