I'm compiling a used car buying guide to the R53 Mini and I want to include a short testimonial from an owner. Ping me a message if you'd be willing to help me out :)
Hi guys, so i'm new with Mini. I just bought my first Mini and want to install an Android Auto on R50. It happens that i need the canbus decoder for this model and can't find it anywhere. Someone around here is able to help me find it?
I have a scan tool and know this code means it's running lean. They light will turn off and on without me doing anything and when it turns off I can feel it run better. I've noticed it turns off in warmer weather too. Anyone know what could be causing this?
Want to clean and inspect this sensor. Can't find anything that would indicate where this sensor is located.
Hello!
A couple of days ago my Mini Clubman F54 suddeenly reduced speed and had a Drivetrain error. Once i restarted the car this dissappeared. But since then, i am afraid to put my family in the car. I took it to my mechanic and had the attached erros. Would you have any idea what's going on from your experience?
I think i would need to take it to BMW and officially check it, as being on a highway and the car to suddenly stop, would be very risky!
Thanks
Took my F56 to the shop yesterday to get an oil chamge and to get checked out, and turns out an engine mount is broken. Probably the upper engine mount that seems to be a common failure in these cars. Those that have gotten them replaced, any idea how much you paid, or how much I should be expecting to pay? Wanna make sure I'm not getting ripped off. Thanks :)
2005 R53 with just over 70,000 miles. Car does run and drive however I stopped driving it soon as the sounds started.
So the other day my 2016 Mini Countryman experienced a strange issue during freezing temps in PA, the door wouldn't close or lock. Luckily my husband and I were close to home so he just held it closed until I parked at home and then we took a look. We weren't able to close the door by pushing on it but we were able to manually turn the latch and close it (it still wouldn't lock, though.)
I called a shop on Saturday and they said they could take a look at it on Wednesday. Fast forward to today, it was a super nice day here in PA (45 degrees compared to the awful freezing cold we've been having) and suddenly the door opens, closes, and locks just fine!
Anybody else experience this? Should I still take it to the shop on Wednesday just in case or did it just have something to do with the freezing cold? lol? Thanks for any help!!
Hi! I got my first Mini last week and it’s so fun to drive. I set up almost everything but had a few outstanding questions that the dealership tech guy couldn’t answer. Shot in the dark but do you guys know—
Can you reset the Openometer? I can reset the trip counter but not the Full lifetime counter. (I’ve drive one hour. But it has 254 hours on there from the previous owner)
On the heads up display, when using the scroll buttons to change the radio station, you have to click down, and then ok to change to the new station. Is there a setting to make it change the station as soon as you click down vs having to click down and then ok?
Various CarPlay questions that are too much to go into. But it seems really hard to get to / save a setting to have both Waze on CarPlay and XM stations on the screen at the same time.
Thanks! Can’t wait for spring to drive w the top down more.
Can someone explain to me what exactly my car is doing and why it's making that noise?
Hi! I picked up this 2012 Mini Cooper S about a month ago. It only had 68,000 miles on it and it’s up-to-date on all its maintenance. It’s my first time owning a Mini, and I love it. Question: is there any downside to driving it in ‘Sport’ mode the whole time? I love that it really moves when it’s in ‘Sport’ mode, and I’d like to keep it on whenever I’m driving. Will that damage the car in any way? Thanks!
Hey!
I saw a video in which the car was showing the RPM in core mode, does anyone know how to change it?
I don’t have an electric mini so is kind of stupid 🤷🏽♂️
Here is the link, it’s in the minute 5:30 if anyone can help or knows how? Thanks!
Grabbed this off eBay. Turned out decent.
manual r52 happens around 2300 rpm goes down with speed or goes away completely when I put in the clutch
Hey MINI community,
I recently replaced the oil filter housing gasket on my MINI, which required changing the coolant. Since then (or at least this winter), I've noticed that the heater isn't working as it used to. It gets slightly warm, but only about 30% of what it was before.
Here’s what I’ve checked so far:
Could this be due to air trapped in the cooling system? Or maybe something else like the thermostat, heater core, or a sensor issue?
I’d really appreciate any advice on how to diagnose or fix this. Thanks in advance!
Hi folks. I have a 2015 Mini Cooper S and I had my breaks replaced recently but they didn't reboot the computer so I still have the annoying break warning light on the screen and on the dash. I've tried to reboot the computer to get rid of it per some instructions I've found on Mini forums (see my video) but it still isn't working. I am able to reset the other options during this reboot phase i.e. oil, service, etc but the one I want to reset won't work! Any help or guidance is extremely appreciated!
how much do yall think US mini prices will be affected by these tariffs? i’ve been holding out on buying a mini until my current car dies (2011 hyundai elantra) but i fear i may have waited too long
there’s no real way of knowing really until it’s happening but was just wondering about y’all’s thoughts
I know it'll make the pops louder and give the car a more throaty sound but im wondering how much louder it'll make the car as a daily. I did a resonator delete on my speed 3 before and it sounded fantastic until you had to sit at 70 on the freeway. The drone was horrible. I quite like the way the exhaust note these things make stock. I just want to make it sound a bit more aggressive when you're really going.
I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I looked and couldn't find it.
Just got my mini earlier last year (august) The oil change isn't coming up for at least a month. Will this annoying yellow triangle just be on my display until then? Is there a way to clear it??
I want to buy my first Mini cooper, and when i was in London i saw the Union jack tail lights for the first time and they are so cool :D. But i will not be able to buy the new expensive Mini's so is it possible to put those on a 2008 to 2012 models?
I think i read they came out in 2014, but i just wanted to ask just to be sure :)
