Hello,
Through a series of online interventions, the third edition of the Thessaloniki Queer Arts Festival aims to offer the opportunity for underrepresented LBGTQIA artists, writers and activists from across the Balkans and other selected regions to reveal their practice to a spectating audience from 20-28 June, 2020. This year, TQAF will be showcasing selected works, performances and workshops digitally.
We welcome proposals across disciplines, such as, visual artworks, poetry and writing, workshops, performances, video and film presentations, community interventions and talks or lectures that investigate the question: what is fear? These will be presented through a curated series of social media, blog and website posts and live streams, according to the needs of each selected project.
I wanted to share it with the community in case you have any recommendations or people in mind you would like to share our open call with. For any questions, feel free to be in touch!
Thank you!
If the Mods let this 'promo' stay up I wanted to let you know about r/QueerSalon which is a new sub designed to fill what I saw as a gap on Reddit. Its for people who like to read, have an interest in arts and things a little more avant-garde. Its what we all make it, but the vision is a more grown up and worldly version of the generalist LGBT/ Gay/ Sex & Gender Minority subs - a fun, challenging, eye opening spot, with a focus away from coming out and more on people exploring further. Either way, we'll crosspost from here and promote this sub too.
Hello everyone, I don’t know who is reading this or even how reddit works exactly, but I’m a lesbian artist, my fiancée is a lesbian painter in Paris. I need to go there and marry her and make paintings together. I love her with all my heart and right now, I’m raising funds to pay for my plane ticket and passport to get to her. Please comment or message me if you want to help me out. Please be kind. Love wins!!!❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I am a gay man from Utah (I’m looking for people from anywhere and everywhere) who wants to start an all queer rap/hip hop group. I’ve recently started making music with some straight friends but they don’t take it as seriously as me and I want some queer friends cause I don’t really have any. I want to make it as queer as possible. I want singers, rappers, producers. Anyone who’s interested please message
Dear poets of /r/LesbianArtists,
I'm from a writers’ resources company called Winning Writers. Part of our mission is to find and promote voices and themes underrepresented in publishing, including (but of course not limited to) racial, cultural, national, religious, gender/sexual identity, body positive, and [dis]abled. We are interested primarily in the representation of the voices/themes in the poetry, rather than the identity of the writer. The Tom Howard/Margaret Reid Poetry Contest we are running right now offers two first prizes of $2,000 each. Ten honorable mentions will receive $100 each, and the top twelve entries will all be published on our site. The contest is international and the deadline is September 30. I’m posting here specifically because our long term goal is to change the composition of our entry pool to include more entries featuring diverse characters and themes. These voices need to be heard, and we are actively reaching out to find them.
Sometimes when I post, there are some replies worried about a scam, so in order to head that off I just want to say that our competitions are listed by The Write Life as some of the top writing competitions out there, and we’re in Writer’s Digest’s top eight sites for writers. Besides contests, we also offer a lot of free publishing and style resources, including a database of free poetry and prose competitions, at https://winningwriters.com/
I know this isn't a poetry sub per se, but there are a lot of talented people here and I just wanted to reach out in case anyone was looking for an opportunity like this. Thanks for listening, and have a good day.
Shreddy Lesbian Music by two identical lesbian twins from CT!
Hey there writers and poets of /r/LesbianArtists,
I'm from a writers' resource website called Winning Writers. Part of our mission is to find and promote voices and themes underrepresented in publishing, including (but of course not limited to) racial, cultural, national, religious, gender/sexual identity, body positive, neurodiverse, and [dis]abled. We are interested primarily in the representation of the voices/themes in the poetry, rather than the identity of the writer. At this time of year we're offering two contests:
The Tom Howard/John H. Reid Fiction and Essay Contest, with two first prizes of $2000 each, ten honorable mentions receiving $100 each, and the top twelve entries published online. The contest is international. The deadline is April 30.
The Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry Contest, with a first prize of $1000, a second prize of $250, and ten honorable mentions of $100 each. The top twelve entries will be published online. The contest is international and the deadline is April 1.
Since I started doing outreach on Reddit last year we've received hundreds more entries featuring diverse characters and voices. We're working hard to increase the diversity of our entry pool and give good writers the exposure they deserve. I know /r/LesbianArtists isn't technically a "writers' subreddit," but in the past some of our strongest entries have come from subs like this one, which ostensibly have nothing to do with writing. So, if you are a writer, please consider entering our contests. And if you know any writers, please consider passing this information on to them. Thanks for reading, and all the best.
