Hey,
I've not been dancing a very long time but i would like to create a training plan that i can do everyday
as a routine to improve my stamina and keep fit. What type of exercises/training can i do everyday that helps me build a better body for dancing?
When I was a little kid I took toddler tap and ballet. I know first through fifth position of plié… and that’s about it. I want to know if honestly, am I too old to start?
Amateur actor here who just completed a long run of a show with a lot of dance choreography. The majority of my dance was done barefoot as my character was mostly nude. About halfway through the run I started having soreness in the balls of my feet and acute pain in spots on my heels (bad jumps).
I made it through the run, and the show has been over now for almost a month. However the pain in my feet persists. I am not able to walk barefoot without a lot of discomfort. It doesn't seem to be getting better and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions.
And yes, I do have an appointment to see my doctor. ;)
For those who are wondering about perusing a degree in dance!

Hey! I’m pretty new to dancing. I like to go to a lot of EDM shows, specially in the genres of house and bass music. What are some good basic dance moves that can fit that style of music?
Hello! So I am very interested in joining my colleges dance team but I have no prior dancing experience and fear that I will make fool of myself at auditions. I want to take these next few months to learn and improve my dancing abilities. So could anyone provide me some pointers as to what resources I should be using, essential skills to learn (their dances are mainly hip hop style), structure/order and essentially anything else you think would be helpful. Thank you in advance!
Please give me some thing to help me with a dance similar to this https://youtu.be/je_R3gEtDbw?si=F4ede21oRoflTcTl

Hi, I've become interested in dance these days, but I'm very ignorant about the subject. Is there a specific name for this dance style that I came across while watching a video?

Hi! I have low ability in both of my arms due to nerve compression in my shoulder & neck regions. I have upper limb hypermobility and I can physically make most movements because of this, but the delayed effects of certain actions can be detrimental/take a long time to recover from. So ideally I'd be looking for a dance style that could have me participate meaningfully without the need for me to perform the following actions (although these limitations are not set in stone):
Note: Lifting from the elbow joint usually seems fine.
I'm willing to advocate for accessibility plans to be made in a space so that I can participate, as you can imagine I am very used to doing by now! But it helps if the activity is something that only requires minimal alterations.
I've always loved dance - I spent every second of my childhood dancing and singing, took jazz ballet for a few years as a kid then got into amateur musical theatre. My condition only showed up in 2015, has gotten far worse the last few years, and I'd love to find a way to keep active that helps as opposed to hinders, which is a frustratingly fine line. What prompted me to post this was the return of the urge I've often had to do tap classes, however I wanted to know whether it would be a viable option?
Thank you in advance for your help! If anyone would like more details on the condition it is called neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome, and mine is most likely due to multiple factors, including hypermobility, the presence of cervical ribs, adhesion of nerve scarring to bone in the brachial plexus, and trauma.
I'm pretty good at it I just need to get better
ok so this is basicall a skill ive been trying to get a hold of for the past a year, i was a firm beliver of ' you can learn anything if you put time and effort into it' , thats how i learnt a lot of things like drawing, i just drew a lot. but this doesnt seem to work while dancing, i dance a lot i watch tutorials, and spend a lot of time trying to improve, but i dont see any progress from when ive started to now, maybe dance isnt meant for me? no matter how much i try i cannot seem to improve, maybe taking offline classes might help but im not in a position to do that right now and can only rely on stuff online. any sort of guidance would be helpful. thanks!
It's like I get confused watching and trying to memorise. I can't figure out how to replicate what they're doing, like it doesn't compute in my brain. Halfway through it's like I get sick of trying to replicate and I start freestyling, way more naturally, and feel like I'm actually connecting with the music. I want to learn how to put the same energy and love for music into set choreo as freestyling as I'm hoping to join a dance group in uni, but have no idea how😭 please someone suggest some tips, or explain to me how dancers seem to pick things up so quickly just from what looks like one glance. I feel like there's a part of my brain missing, I know I can connect with music, why can't I understand how other's connect?
I’ve been dancing for a long time now yet I’ve always had a massive problem with keeping my eyes closed. Countless teachers have told me to open them and are so confused how I do moves- especially turns, with my eyes closed and my face sort of squished. I’m not a great dancer but I enjoy it but I look like I’m forced with a gun because of this issue 😭 Anyone else had this?
Hi. I (18M) have never danced before, but for easily 8-10 years I have wanted to give it a go and get into it. I never have as I was, and still am scared of being judged. I am a bit overweight and want to get into it for the passion and also to help me get into better shape. There is a dance studio near me however I am hesitant to attend as there are people there that know me. Ig I am looking for advice but not sure how to word it. Anybody got any advice?
I have been dancing for 4 years now . I was self taught until end of last year when I started taking classes. I have period where I get so frustrated over the fact that I want to be a great dancer. I love dance so much and feel frustrated because I am getting where I want ( I am in a " comfortable intermediate level" and I want to reach advance).
I see people same age as me making pieces and putting their art out there and I feel like I have so much potential and things I could try .
Anyway during this frustration period, it should serve as motivation but it takes so much of my thoughts, I don't know what to do to feel better
