We support any protests against Reddit being an ass about API pricing. While we're thinking what to do, consider heading over to lemmy.ml to create new communities not limited by corporate greed.
Dancing is an essential part of human culture, regardless of where you're from.
We wish to promote this art form and to allow people from all around the world to share their experiences on the subject of dancing!
In addition to being art, dancing can be a hobby, a sport, a profession, a way to represent your own feelings and thoughts or a form of nonverbal communication.
There is no single purpose or goal to dancing, except enjoyment!

I'm a trained dancer, who danced professionally for a bit and am now a dance photographer working with many genres and levels. I'd love to answer any questions y'all have for me!
Any recommendations? I’m looking for something I can wear under my sweatpants for a little more modesty.
Honestly felt better here than before I took a break. But I’m just not as motivated to join events like before (like burn out with the tiredness [?]). No drive to even lab by myself, any tips?
Embarrasing af, but I'm having fun, so I'll spread the fun. Also, so others won't be nervous to post. Ha gayyyyyyyyyy ☝️
hiii, i’ve been finding myself super busy lately with both school and work that i haven’t really been able to squeeze in anytime to attend dance classes in person which sucks. i’ve been thinking about subscribing to an online dance class platform like TMilly TV but was wondering which one is better? TMilly TV or Steezy studio? any recs open and appreciated.
Opinions? Im new around
Hi r/Dance!
Dark Arts Software is developing TRIP THE LIGHT, a fully immersive partner dance app for VR and AR headsets. It's both a game and a learning tool. We've been working on it for a while, and are partnering with professional dancers and choreographers to ensure we do this right, so we can properly teach the basics of salsa, swing and other dances at home in a way that's never been possible before!
We just debuted it on Kickstarter and would love any feedback and support from members of this group!

Great event :) glad we could train and make a name for ourselves :)
Hey everyone, I’m reaching out because I’ve hit a rough patch financially and am struggling to afford my dance classes. Dance is such an important part of my life, and I don’t want to give up on it. If you can, I’d be incredibly grateful for any support to help me continue my lessons. Every little bit counts, and your generosity would mean the world to me.
I was told that I would be so much better in my style if I learn to transfer my weight, any tips / ideas??

I'm a South African Dancer, working his way up the chain.
Started dance classes in my early 20s with basically no background or prior experience. I mainly go to casual classes and notice the teacher often picks a group of students to dance with them at the end. While I understand that this is meant to highlight good dancers and allow others to learn from them, I can’t help but feel defeated or disappointed every time I don’t get picked. I think this is because I’ve been going to weekly classes for a few years now and friends who have been dancing less or started at the same time seem to be improving so much more/getting picked instead, and I can’t help but feel like I’m barely improving and don’t know how to get better.
I don’t really know what to do and how to overcome this mental block, any advice or support would be much appreciated. TIA.
It doesn't cost $70au shipping per kid. Being charged $150+ when costume on website (sticker to website was on costume bag) costs $60-80 ...
Why?
*Editing to add it's just a rural dance studio, nothing fancy. Really simple, really crap concert.
I teach a 7 and under pom class and I'm trying to find music for their recital. I'm open to any and all suggestions. If it helps anyone, their poms/costumes are red.
hii i'm 18 f and im gonna start going to start taking adult classes, any tips? anything really, also i'd like to ask what should i wear? and for shoes, they said no outside shoes so what kind of shoes should i bring?
Hi! I want to get some good ballroom heels without breaking the bank, where can I get them and the plastic caps that go on the bottom? (Not Amazon) I am learning and just want to have some shoes I can practice in that won’t fall apart.
Thank you!
I (16f) would like to learn how to dance and was wondering which kinds I should learn so I can have the opportunity to join a group or Atleast come close. (I was inspired by the Dream Academy girl group Kateseye)
I still would like to become an actor but at the same time, join a group. I feel it would also be less lonely. What kind/types of dance should I learn? 1-3 options if possible Please! Thank you!
I apologize if this seems like a stupid question, but I feel completely lost in regards to this. I've been wanting to learn how dance (particularly hip hop) for quite a while now but I'm very lost in terms of where to start. Should I just start watching videos on simple moves or something around those lines?
My friend’s daughter is 8 and has been dancing for a few years now. She’s the first in our friends circle to take on this activity (so we’re really clueless here). Are there dance accessories? Brands of dance necessities that would be a small splurge? We have her daughter’s name for a gift exchange and would like to get her something nice for or related to dance. Ideas? Help? Looking to spend around $50. TIA
Hi new here:) I was hoping if by chance anybody new where to start! Thankyou!
I've been learning to dance for about 2 years now and am now pretty good at picking up coreography, I can keep up with the other dancers and I can do the moves to the beats.
The problem is that I don't feel like I am dancing them, I'm just doing them if that makes sense. There is no personality in my dance.
How can I get past this stage and get better?
I was curious if anyone had any ideas on places I could work for my stay so I would have more time to practice my dancing/ juggling? I am aware of WWOOF, and of a few intentional communities in the US, but I was curious if anyone had any better ideas? Thank you all so much for your time and help!
As someone who has been dancing for 20 years, I’ve never been able to do more than a double or triple turn! I get through off straight momentum and no spotting! Turns are still the one area of lacking in my dancing! Please give me all the turning/spotting tips, tricks, and exercises!! (Yes, I have many years of ballet and technique training but never have been a turner!)
Hi everyone! I have a question for you)
I follow some dance influencers/dancers/choreographers on Instagram and they usually post videos from their classes with their choreography. I cannot attend these classes BUT I obsessed with a couple of dances. I want to learn it and also post on Instagram... I planned to tag them in post (like "Hey, this guy is a choreograph").
However, I'm wondering and worried if it is ok, if it is not stealing or something bad.
Help me :)
