Does Vandy actually give you until 12/2 to finish submitting your merit essays?
hey y'all, i originally thought ED would be out on 12/15 but then I saw some admissions reps saying it would be "mid-december" with no specified date. anyone who got in ED in previous years know when you guys got it?
Is it worth applying for the merit scholarships, I only have rough drafts of them and I rather spend time on BU. I would receive a full-ride due to income anyways
Hey guys I'm in the process of applying to vandy rn. I'm a Tennessee resident and applying the Vandy merit scholarships. Will I be in a lot of debt if I don't get the scholarships.
Is the deadline 11.59 pm on 1st or 00.00 on 1st
Quite honestly, I completely squandered my academic potential in high school. Despite that, I’ve done really well in college and am intending to transfer to Vanderbilt. Assuming I have ridiculous extra curricular activities and perfect college academics what would be my odds of acceptance?
Should I email them? fml
Hey anyone who got in can you tell that is this essay essentially a Why Us essay I mean it ask all about college so I can treat it like that right?
Also what did you write in your essay if you dont mind sharing?
Anyone who already has submitted their application or will be doing it, how many activities did you mention here and like in what format?
Did you write the same activities as your Common App, like what does Vandy want to see here, why can't they just ask for essay and see our main activities from Common App?
Thank you!
I'm applying to the Vanderbilt. I've just send the CommonApp, and all the required essays are in the applicant portal. It's said that application portal info will arrive in 2 days, and I'm afraid that it won't make it to Dec.1.
I tried to contact the AO, but it's said that they don't work until Dec. 2 due to the thanksgiving. Any ideas?
title! i am freaking out rn
Is IEEE even active?
Basically, Vanderbilt(with other 7 unis) is the part of this Computational Sustainability Initiative(link). I'd really like to engage with this institution--and, as far as I know, Cornell students are permitted to work on the projects of this initiatives. Can Vandy students do the same?
Would it be easy to change majors from environmental engineering to mechanical engineering (since mech e is more selective)? Idk if I’ll like environmental so I’m curious. Thanks.
If someone gets the scholarship while submitting application under the Arts and Sciences College, but later wants to change his major which is available in a different college, would the scholarship be transferable?
Hey!
I submitted my application using one email but withdrew it and resubmitted using another email. However now when i check on my portal, it says withdrawn on the new email! What should I do. Scholarship apps are close.
Hey yall, I had a question about the Chancellor's Scholarship application. I was wondering what the value of "scholarship" exactly meant in the context of the scholarship, as it is listed in the prompt.
Also, the prompt says to elaborate on 1 of my activities, but i mention 2 that are heavily related and intertwined with each other. I use a failure from 1 activity as the launching pad for another, and the essay is more skewed towards one activity than the other. Is this okay or should I air on the side of caution?
If there are any Chancellor's Scholars that would be willing to read over my essay and help me out I would absolutely love it, thanks for the help!
im in the process of applying for both of these scholarships but cant find anyone on yt or something whose gotten them. would love to talk to someone who got these scholarships for some advice asap pls!!
I'm going to be applying ED 2 and taking the SAT on December 7th. I would love to apply for merit scholarships but those are due December first Does anyone know if I can apply on December first and then send the December 7th sat score when I get it?
hi, i'm applying to the all of the vandy merit scholarship, but i want to talk about experiences i cover in my supplemental essay/common app because they are some of my best extracurriculars. does anyone know if the scholarship committee looks at your application essays as well? also, are individual scholarship applications viewed separately? i'm seeing conflicting answers about this online. thanks!
I reached out initially around class registration and sent a follow up email 8 days later, but I haven't heard from them. I also tried meeting them in person. What's the next step? Should I be worried?
I'm picking my ED2 right now and I have to decide between NYU Tandon school of engineering and Vanderbilt. Which one would be better?
My thoughts are that NYU is way more prestigious than Vanderbilt (internationally speaking), but it's also very overrated and gives little aid.
Info:
Int'l student
Applying to Vanderbilt without aid (hoping on merit)
Applying to NYU with aid
SAT: 1560/1600 (790 Math)
Decent grades, decent ECs. Regular essays.
hi, i have a package which is probably going to show up on friday when i have already left for thanksgiving. will they hold the package over break?
i’m looking to apply as a transfer to vanderbilt next year (i’m currently a freshman). does anyone know what transferring to vanderbilt is like? i’m worried about finding community/being left behind, especially with the way freshman housing seems to function. any advice/info?
Hoping to get more insight on who to take ORGO II lecture with next semester
Dr. Adam List vs Dr. Chi-Li Ni
( I looked on ratemyprofessor but List hasn't taught orgo II lecture for a while now.)
Any insight is much appreciated.
hello, I just got approved for off-campus housing and i'm still deliberating.
i receive full financial aid and according to my aid officer i would be refunded the full amount of my housing and meal costs but could still purchase a meal plan.
my question is, how easy is it to find someone willing to sublet/rent out a room for a low price somewhere in SHORT walking distance to campus? basically the main reason i'd want to live off campus would just be for having my own room and private bathroom. it seems that in the on-campus housing process its exceptionally hard to get both at the same time unless you have disability accomodations.
i don't have a car and i don't really want to have to get one either, i don't want to drive in nashville or have to pay the parking passes or anything like that. how is getting groceries ? ought i to just start having instacart delivered or whatever? i won't have much money in excess of the vandy refunds but thankfully my family has been willing to help me out up to this point so i could probably live off of instacart if i had to.
on that note, should i buy one of the commuter meal plans? or no?
im not very high maintenance at all I can live off of cereal and ramen and the little packaged fruit and chips and whatnot that you might expect to find in an elementary schooler's lunchbox lol so my food costs shouldnt be too high.
basically is living off campus worth the drawbacks of inconvenience and probably higher costs? im one of the few people on campus who really likes campus dining lol so im a little sad that off-campus folks can't get a standard meal plan but oh well
would i be better off going with some other type of housing (that rising juniors tend to have very good chances of getting?)
Thank you!
I applied cognitive studies. Also, how hard is it to get the merit scholarships that require an application?
