I don't think I'll make it to the deadline of my first game jam and it makes me sad

That's about it. It's upsetting, but it IS my fault for not setting enough time aside. Atm I'm mentally kinda exhausted to continue so I'm just sitting staring at my Unity project. There's a lot to do and the deadline is tomorrow 7 AM.

Tips for facilitating team-forming in person as a game jam organizer?

Hey! Our university association is hosting a small game jam and the responsibility of organizing and faciliating the team creation fell on me. I've only been to one game jam in person and I actually had a team, so I am probably the worst person to do this...still, it's my job now, so I thought I'd ask for some advice here :D

We are doing a brainstorming exercise on game ideas for about half an hour first and then after that people without teams are supposed to make teams.

My main questions are:

- What is the best team forming you experienced at a game jam?

- How to help stragglers find a group?

Thank you very much in advance <3

Why do people join game jams?

I've been thinking about game jams lately and I'm curious to hear from all of you: why do you join game jams? Do you see them as a fun hobby to participate in regularly, or are they more of a stepping stone to kickstart your game development journey?

First "game jam" guidance

Hello, I have been given 4 days of from work and I am planning on taking that time off to learn some game dev and trying my very best do develop a "game".
I have almost no knowledge about game dev and I want to try to learn as I go and try and make something in those 4 days, but I would like to know where should I start, what tutorials/courses should I watch, what game engine should I use given my short time...
I do not mind if don´t have anything resembling a game at the end of it, as long as I have a couple of mechanics that work and I learn some stuff along the way I will be happy.

ps. I am starting this monday :)

Tips On Starting A Local Game Jam?

I'm a manager at a small café in southern Louisiana that regularly host "Open Mic Nights", recently our numbers have been extremely low and my boss has asked me for any ideas to change things up around the café.

I've always been adamant about having something technological due to our location being right next to a college with a super popular and well known computer science program but I've never had a way to directly voice it to the GM.

The only problem is I don't want to bring up this idea unless I have mostly everything planned out and I thought this would be a great place to get any ideas or suggestions for this, or if this is even viable since I personally don't see many in-person Game Jams.

Team seeking 2D Artist for game jam

Hey all,

My team and I are planning to do a game jam in the upcoming week. We're coming from professional and academic backgrounds of software engineering and UI/UX design. Our game is going to be a 2D immersive sim with a similar design philosophy to the classic Looking Glass Studios games. We are looking for a 2D game artist who can do basic animations (all skill levels welcome). Our working style is very casual: part-time, focused on trying out new things, and having fun. For the purpose of the game jam, we're looking for someone who can stay on from Mar. 22nd to Apr. 1st. Post game jam, we may also offer you a more permanent spot on the team depending on how things go. If you're interested, please feel free to hit me up in the DMs.

Thanks!
