My personal favourite indie game is a small game you never heard of, called Grand Theft Auto Five.
Back story ----> About a year ago, I was playing around and created a Cover for a Mario Themed Issue of a magazine. I thought what if I could make this magazine for real for Indie Games.
So I laid out a story about Mario and had a prototype. Soon after that I had a writer signed on and my wife as Editor. We had enough to get something created.
We contacted Devs from interesting game we found. They even wrote an article for the first Issue.
It was a blast creating something and being part of something.
We had created the first Issue and went to print. We even did a Kickstarter before that barely funded $700. We didn't know what we were doing and lost so much money in International Shipping.....
Soon we were working on Issue 2. This thing was actually happening! We had a New Cover story and what felt like tons of writers signed on. I let loose and designed from my feelings and created a magazine that read great and was very unique with the layouts. I felt great.
Then our second Kickstarter failed to Fund and our plans for expanding into making merch was going up in flames. I was starting to feel as if this thing was destined to fail because no one wants it. The market for a Magazine is so low these days with the internet being able to feed out stories before we can assignment them to our writers.
We are now designing the third magazines with high hopes, but I just need to know if this magazine is something people want?
We want to bring what I call "Evergreen Articles" that stand the test of time. We are not interested in fighting for space, but rather create a space of thought-provoking articles mixed with great reviews/previews and fun guides.
In the next Issue we have found a great game for the Cover! You get the clean up water! We hope we can share our dream of a different type of magazine. Something worth the read!
Thank you for reading through that.
Is anyone even interested in a Gaming Magazine that is trying to change the game and bring thought-provoking articles about the Environment and gaming or The Effects of AI in Gaming into the realm of the video game magazine? All surrounded by the world of the Indie Video Game.
I got a long flight coming up and I'm looking for an indie game to pass the time.
In no particular order, some of my favorite indie games:
Into the Breach
Slay the Spire
Shogun Showdown
Steamworld Heist 1 & 2
Steamworld Dig 1 & 2
Balatro
Hades
In light of these favorites, what would you recommend?
Edit: ideally the recommendation would be for the Switch. I haven't decided if I will be bringing my laptop on the flight.

it was essentially super hot but military, where you take out military guys and have a limited amount of ammo in each gun and can pick up weapons. I watched a video about the game then completely forgot the name, any help would be greatly appreciated.

So I like making tiny window desktop games. The video itself is larger than the actual game window which is 256x256px. (It is meant to sit somewhere in the corner of your desktop).
Sooooo this is a desktop alien virtual pet kinda thing I'm working on called Mweeples. The lore is they inhabit one particular forest planet in a binary star system. The Mweeples are the most advanced species on this planet, and that isn't saying much.
They spend much of their life sitting in one place, but every so often they "pop" out of existence and go on little adventures (which you get alerted to as they travel so you can see what they are doing.)
This is the character creation screen (still WIP), which allows you to create your own Mweeple or select one at random, from there you would progress to a screen where you could care for your pet and help them when they go on adventures.
This is being made using Stencyl and Photoshop. There is AI involved in the creation of this project, but only for the individual graphical elements, all coding and image processing, etc is done by me.
I'm looking for feedback and feel free to ask any questions.
It’s a prototype I’m working on
It’s called BadJack
It’s kinda like blackjack
