I'm trying to get this particle emitter to follow the shape of the mesh but it almost always goes "through" it instead. All the examples I see on youtube are softer edges so it follow it but is it possible for the surface attarct to follow this harder geo angles?
In my example the path goes through the wall and then around it but i want it to to up and over the wall instead of through it..
I’ve been using Maya for 20 years now. All the shortcuts etc are burned into my brain haha. How to navigate with shortcuts and how the camera feels is all second nature but recently I’ve been wondering about c4d. I’m already rendering with redshift in Maya so that’s all good. But I just opened c4d and gave up within 10 seconds because the camera seems to pivot on its self like fpv.
Has anyone made this switch and found ways to make the transition faster?
Thank you!
Hello, I would like to train in Cinema 4D. I am familiar with 2D work using After Effects, but I am completely new to 3D and have never worked with it before. I’m looking for a course that will make me job-ready for a junior position by the end. I’m debating between the 2D to 3D with Cinema 4D course from Motion Design School and the Cinema 4D Basecamp course from School of Motion. Which one should I choose? Any recommendations or feedback? Is it worth it? Thanks in advance.

Hello. Thank you so much for your interest and support in my previous Hyundai Card project.
This time, I created a simple Instagram reel using Redshift and X-Particles Fluid.
Although I couldn’t fully develop the fluid simulation during my short vacation, I’ll try increasing the birthrate for the next render.
I’m curious—do users prefer X-Particles or Cinema 4D’s default particle system?
Which system do you think works better for fluid simulations? I’d love to hear your feedback!
I always get so much inspiration from the work and discussions of Reddit users. Thank you!

Hi guys, what's the best way to modeling this kind of objects ?
As some of you may know, Foundry is sunsetting Modo. Like many Modo users, I now need to move to another platform. So far, I’ve been told that Cinema 4D and Blender are the two 3D software options I should consider.
My primary use for Modo is 3D modeling and photorealistic product renders. I work extensively with beer brands, which are very particular about how their bottles should look. I have achieved excellent results with both Modo’s native renderer and Octane, particularly in rendering glass and liquid. Choosing new software that excels in this area is a top priority.
My secondary use is animation, which accounts for about 20% of my work. I don’t create anything complex, but I still need a platform that handles simple animations effectively.
I understand that asking on a Cinema 4D forum may seem counterintuitive, but I feel that its user base consists of more professional users compared to Blender, which tends to attract a large number of hobbyists and casual users who are very fan-loyal.
What would you advise? Should I move toward Cinema 4D or Blender? I know that Blender is free, but that only matters if it can perform as well as Cinema 4D for my needs.
My Macon account is about to expire, I wondered, did anyone yet try to get a discount on their membership through support? I went through some rough years and currently trying to get back on my feet, though the 1k is a hard cut to my budget.
I’m asking cause I know with Adobe, they’re basically giving out anything you want as long as they can keep you subscribed. (If you can tell them a good reason like newborn child - lost your job - low freelance rate etc.)
:)
Which renderer do you guys use regarding Redshift and Octane?
I am using Octane but will be using Redshift as I need to share a project for my next project.
I would like to know the advantages of each and how you use the different renderers.
I am thinking of using Octane as my main renderer and Redshift for team work and volume use.
Hello Free Spirits,
I'm taking 3D Design and Motion classes in college and to my surprise we're using Cinema4D instead of the popular(FREE) Blender 3D. Once I'm done with these classes i just want to know will the transition from Cinema to Blender be seamless or will there be a steep learning curve? I'm kinda bummed out that Cinema4D isn't free, its like I'm learning it to drop it eventually. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank You.
Please feedback if how can i make it better and roasts are welcome
Hi All,
I’m looking for step by step workflow / instruction for setting up this 3D Anamorphic Billboard or forced perspective effect using C4D + AE. I can only find partial tuts - nothing that demos all the steps for exporting, delivery, etc to multiple screens (a corner display specifically - 2 screens).
This technique is pretty ubiquitous now - where are the educational resources? :)
Any help appreciated - thanks!
Hi there, I'm struggling with a complicated procedural material in Redshift and procedural processes.
I'm trying to achieve a Geneva stripes finish for a watch texture. I'm able to create the stripes using a modulo and a ramp, but I need to add a brushed effect, as you can see in the attached pictures.
I’m able to create a brushed effect and choose its origin, but I can't get it to work with the modulo. Can someone help me with this?
Hi, i have an object inside a cloner, clone mode object - cloned to particle group
it shoes not show up in render when using sketch and toon
I then test cloning to just a cube object and i can see it in sketch and toon
so is new particle emitter not able to show objects if cloned
what should i do see not showing in render, and second screenshot shows it working if not cloned to particle group
I want to lose my mind. I want to understand the main bullet points of what this workflow should be. Example. We shot a plate we're going to incorporate a waterwheel into. What to do first? Do i just start in zbrush and sculpting basic planks of wood? Then bringing them in? Do I build the whole structure in C4d first and then export?
Do you just export an obj, or do you need UVs exported with it? How basic does your geo have to be? Are you just making displacement maps, or are you exporting actual geo from zbrush?
I think what i'm really asking is just like the simple text bullets of what this workflow is. It's so difficult to find just this basic like bird's eye view in a google search that's current, and like, I want to scratch up some wood planks, I don't want to make a crazy ass gothic door knocker from scratch. I can find the info i need once i get passed this very annoying initial workflow question.
I am working on a cloth simulation and have noticed that it appears very difficult to control the 'stretch' of cloth in C4D 2025.
Can anyone suggest the best settings to adjust to reduce the stretch of cloth? Thanks!
Scene File illustrating problem:
Cloth Stretch Problem
Another question since I may have missed out on how to do this today after not having used C4D for a couple of years now.
Here is a minimal Setup showing the problem that I've tested with C4D 26 as well as C4D 2025.1.0:
Processing img vojskydugcge1...
Render Settings:
GI with QMC first and second pass
Default Light off
HDRI Material on the Sky is a 32 BIT EXR. Material on the Background is a 8 Bit TIF.
Material on the plane is the same as the background with frontal projection.
Compositing Tags:
Sky has been set to:
Processing img z7chfwtghcge1...
And on the plane:
Processing img 365hrczmhcge1...
And I get this in the viewport:
Processing img usaafo0uhcge1...
And this in the picture viewer:
Processing img 3ts1qp7xhcge1...
Notice the difference?
If I convert the HDRi to a png with adjusted brightness I get this:
Processing img i3hnlmsqicge1...
ground plane compositing works now, we've lost the dynamic range of the HDRi.
To all the C4D Jedi Masters:
What is going on here?
Some problem with the color space? How does that affect the compositing tag?
Hey everyone, I need to create this effect for a project—what technique would you use? I tried using Fractal Noise in After Effects, tweaking it until the lines looked like bright, glowing strands, and that got me close to the look I wanted. However, doing it in AE doesn’t give me 3D control, which means I can’t track it in a scene or have it move around in a true 3D space. I also considered Trapcode Particular, but I don’t think it’s the best option because I need the lines to be in constant motion, as if they’re continuously flowing at high speed. With Particular, the line seems to form and just stay there, rather than constantly running or evolving in real time. My second attempt was in Cinema 4D, but I struggled to create a material that produced the same glow and luminosity. How would you go about achieving this effect?
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!
I am new to using Cinema 4D Cryptomattes and it seems like they can have a big halo around them, making them kind of unusable in this state. I am using quite low settings right now to just render out Cryptomattes afterwards and maybe that's the sole reason these come out looking like this, but maybe something knows if I can somehow decrese/increase the mattes a bit in After Effects?
