As the title suggests, how can I attract new clients for architectural visualization?
I have experience in the field, and my current clients are very satisfied with my work. However, they don’t often have consistent projects for me. Because of this, I’m considering finding additional work through freelance platforms, but I’m not sure how effective they are. Would sending my portfolio directly to architecture studios be a better approach?
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I am really struggling to stay motivated to keep practicing 3ds max (barely started) because I cannot tell if an archviz artist is in high enough demand in the Toronto area. I am wondering if I should start figuring out how to cast a wider net and learn about other jobs a 3d artist in general could have and learn Blender instead as it has many more structured tutorials and a much more thriving community from what I can tell.
I don't know if there are enough jobs in Archviz in my area and its hard to tell if Archviz is even a thriving profession. Nothing shows up on Indeed.ca for example. I live just outside Toronto, Canada and I have found about 10 companies that have pretty good websites, that may or may not hire someone with no experience who taught themselves software relevant to Archviz. I don't know if that is enough. Would I just cycle through all of them sending them all an updated portfolio every so often, when that is ready? Is that the thing to do until I'd get hired? I would expect there to be a lot more average archviz studios. How likely would it be for an architecture firm to hire a self-taught individual with no experience? I have been hesitating to call because I expect there to be a barrier to talking to the relevant person.
I don't know if freelancing would be an option having no experience or if that is something one does only after gaining experience working in a studio. I want to be able to work with someone or a team who could teach me the workflows and advanced techniques. I would hope a good portfolio could bring me to such an opportunity because I'd feel alone and clueless about professional workflows. If portfolio is king and I can manage to make convincing images, I would hope I learn the right workflow afterwards on the job. On the other hand if I could even work for free on the side freelancing, and gain experience that way, that could help me get a job in a studio.
I don't know how to meet people who work in this profession in my area. Meetup.com for example does not have anything. I want to find someone like a mentor who can give me a bird's eye view of the profession, but I also just want to meet regular successful professionals in this area.
I envy those who have the intelligence to participate and succeed in all the popular programming and IT courses on Coursera for such low cost and actually learn properly, acquire such tangible, marketable skills for such high-demand jobs. How can I keep the faith teaching myself and make it to an entry-level job on my own in this profession?
I am a beginner in the interior design industry, And I am looking to start freelancing I only want to focus on providing digital design services and by that I mean 3d renderings / cad
In terms of experience - I have done an internship where I was the site supervisor / drafting person and 3d viz person as well.
And currently I am on probation for a company So far I have done 3d renderings and cad drawings for this company I am also the sole designer in this company.
I would love any advice that can help me get started with this. I am not looking to charge higher prices as I am aware of the lack of experience i hold I am looking to get the word around that I provide design services.
I would also like to get started on social media
ANY ADVICE IS HELPFUL
Edit- I stay in the gulf and advice on pricing for 3d renders / cad drawings is appreciated
How to make it more realistic? I’ve been trying to play around with exposure to make the scene lighter buts it’s just now working. I’m using sunlight and rectangle light outside the window. Additional feedback would be much appreciated!
Sketchup & Vray
Not sure if this is the right sub (Please direct me if not) But for the 3D Interior designers/Renderers out there what programs would you use to make something like this? I have a client requesting this but it is NOT my area of expertise. Doesnt seem doable with Photoshop by any means. Ive heard blender but I need to do more research. Any suggestions?
I want to create a wall similar to this one. We can clearly see some noise or imperfections, though I’m not sure what exactly they are.
My question is: was this achieved with a pre-existing texture that includes these details, or is it a combination of a texture with bump and displacement maps? Could it be a PBR texture, or are the imperfections part of the actual physical wall, like with just a with texture and how it's done?
For example, in the case of a brick wall, I could apply a PBR texture (especially with displacement for depth) to a flat surface, and the results would look fine. However, would the results be significantly better if I modeled the bricks directly into the wall and then applied a normal texture or a multi-texture?
Hello everyone, Need help on how to do this in 3ds max. cant find a way around it
Hey everyone! I’m Parikshit, 23 years old from India, with intermediate skills in 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering. I primarily use Blender for modeling and Unreal Engine for rendering and real-time visualization. I’m looking to transition into Archviz freelancing, and while I know more complex projects are ahead, I want to build my portfolio step by step.
Right now, I’m focused on creating a portfolio and finding ways to land freelance projects. While I’m not an expert in CAD or architectural dimensions, I’m working on getting around that and improving my skills as I go...
Any tips on how to approach Archviz projects in Blender and Unreal Engine, useful resources for building realistic scenes, or advice on attracting clients would be really appreciated. I’d love to hear from anyone and everyone who’s successfully started freelancing in this field
Here's my instagram to see where I'm currently on a skill level... I know I need work 😜 https://www.instagram.com/parikshit.belsare/profilecard/?igsh=MTg1Ynk5ZnVodnphdQ==
Working with D5 to visualize the interior of a home library. Any thoughts?
In these days of black friday/cyber m. and with all the ads we are seeing I´m a bit confused with all of these opportunities and don´t know if this would be a good time to invest in something that can be usefull in the future, but will probably not use them yet.
I usually render in the cloud and saw an ad from Rebusfarm offering to double the render points on one purchase during these days , there are also some libraries on Evermtion, and globe plants which i really like and are at a very good price so it got me thinking if I could make some big purchases and save myself some good money in the future, (I´v e always bought just what I need for each client)
However the thing is im a freelance and I usually work alone, so all these things would help me but will it really be worth it? ... especially since being a freelance you know how it is the thing.
How do you deal with this? Do you invest on this kind of deals given that these are purchases without an specific project in mind. Or would it be better to continue working as i´ve been doing, buying things as i need them?
Hey guys, I'm wanna become professional in ArchViz and software I currently use for rendering is V-Ray/SketchUp, I'm stuck between choosing 3ds and blender, I've seen some really great works on both but blender seems to have the upperhand (from what I've seen). But it seems 3ds Max is better suited for architects' workflow. Need your opinions.
Hello, this is my first time trying D5. I've been using 3ds Max and Corona for about 5 years now, but I've seen great reviews and amazing results from people using D5 Render, so I decided to give it a try.
The first image was rendered with Corona and some post-production in Photoshop, while the other two are purely rendered in D5 with no post-processing.
What do you think? With some practice, do you think I could achieve the same level of quality as I do with Corona?
What do you guys think about this setup? Would you change anything?
I am currently on the budget, so only 64 gb for now, 96 or 128 in the future. I am doing mostly interiors, sometimes small exterios.

Hi everyone,
I am trying to model a sculpture. I have a fireman i have downloaded and i need to make it look like its made out of iron rings. I used an alpha map to do this but it looks really bad. I think maybe because its wrapping around all the tiny details which wouldnt normally happen and also the rings have no thickness when i do this. How do you think i can model this better?
you will see i tried to use a vray dirt map but i couldnt control it very well. I was trying to get the edges to not cut out with the alpha. Almost like 1cm around the hat for example, it would be just an uncut area, and this i thought would give it that realism. But the dirt map is not giving me that, its just giving me occlusion areas.
any suggestions? what i want is something like the photo below
