Hello all. I have a 89 Cabriolet and yesterday I went to take off and my shifter was extremely loose right to left. Forward and backwards I can feel it catching gears. I was able to limp it home in what felt like only 3rd and 4th gear. Any ideas on if this is shift linkage damage or internal to the transmission.
Any idea good sources for the smaller bright headlights for my 1989 cabby? I have one cracked/broken one and one fully functional. My mechanic said to try to find “he flat ones” because they are better and that is what I’m currently running. I really only need one because of a crack, but would prefer matching. Thanks!
They had always my go-to online store for my Cabriolet. Is there another similar online store?
Looking to install one in my cabby but I'm worried the upper lip of the dash or the ac controls will be in the way. Does anyone have experience here?
My other option is to fab a setup for a single-DIN one that I was given, but I would have to mount it on the dash or in the center console insert since it has a fixed screen that hangs straight down.
I just got my 1993 Cabriolet back from the shop after replacing the ECM, spark plugs, ignition coil, ignition rotor, and a collapsed vacuum tube (I don't have the invoice in front of me so I may be getting these slightly wrong, if more details would be helpful please let me know).
Driving home, the acceleration felt sluggish. Overall, the machine felt to be running more smoothly - previous to this repair, I was experiencing some issues idling and it would occasionally stall when the RPMs dropped too quickly; this often occurred when I was shifting down to stop at a light or stop sign.
I live on top of a hill with a considerable grade; typically I'm in 2nd gear for most of the ascent. Today, I had to stay in 1st, and even then it was definitely struggling to get up to speed.
Is there something in the nature of these repairs that would cause this? Does it indicate further issues, or am I lucky and it's something that will work itself out?
These all look beautiful by the way
i need a new wiper motor for my cabriolet and it seems that there sold out everywhere does anyone know where i can find one?
I have a 1987 vw cabriolet and the top is in terrible condition and I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can get a new one
I’ve always loved the look of this car, but I’ve never driven one.
Would I fit into the car?
Anyone here a tall Cabrio owner?
Thanks!
Does anyone have recommendations on front right axle brands to use?
I just brought my 85 cabrio into a shop of a family friend, He mentioned that I needed:
Upper strut-mounts, springs, struts in the back and in the front sway bar bushings
He suggested using used parts that he has found for the car. I was a bit hesitant to put used suspension parts in the car.
What do you guys think?
Thanks
I plan on looking to buy my first cabriolet Tues. Ac and heat does not work but the fan does blow air. What the worse case scenario to get the heat to work? Ac would be nice but not as important.
I have a 99' black automatic that I got for $4k 2 years ago. It has a total of 150k KM and both the interior and exterior is in great condition for its age. The rubber 'leather' part on the door handle is a bit rubbed off but overall, it's great. I moved across the country so it's currently in storage and my dad takes care of it (turn it off and letting it run from time to time).
Do you think, if I wait a few years, I can sell my cabrio a lot higher for what I payed for?
I swear almost everytime I make a turn from a stoplight I get just a little chirp, I have pretty decent BF Goodrich tires (Comp G2 maybe?) So I'm not sure why else it would be happening, I even make a point of not driving like a jackass.
1985 Cabriolet. 111k miles.
I don't have any history on the car.
I'm wondering how urgent it is to change the timing belt. If it is not an interference engine and the belt breaks it would be an inconvenience but I have towing insurance.
If it is an interference engine I'm going to change the timing belt right away.
Thanks.
