I am a Mech grad student and am planning to work on a project in my additive manufacturing class. I was thinking of making custom gauges using 3d printing so that it can fit directly into the a pillar rather than using screws and glue. It would also be like OEM and not add-ons. I need some reviews and suggestions on this.
Thanks in advance
Is it generally the same process deleting a 3.0 as a 2.0? Did my 2013 Jetta. Just bought a 2015 a6.
Does this sound right
Other than VWs are tough
I’m a diesel guy (been a Cummins owner forever)
I think they’d be a cool fun daily
What years would be best or worst and what not….just looking to learn a lil more
Hi r/TDI,
Does anyone happen to know the horsepower and Torque number on a 2014 (MK6) Sportwagen that has been modified as per the dieselgate emissions recall?
I am looking at one on the used market and want to make sure it will still have some of that diesel torque feeling.
Thanks!
Don't need to touch subframe or axle, just need one cut for CJAA jobs
I just bought the car and the car was running fine until now. I’ve spent money on lower arm, steering rack and a good amount of money in this.plus I have a turbo kit and coilovers coming prepaid how fd am I ?
So I recently picked up an ‘03 Jetta wagon (alh) to be my daily driver. However it was an auto and I really wanted a stick. Just a week or two ago I found an ‘05 golf (bew) 5 speed that I picked up. Long story short, I still have both but the golf’s motor blew. Would it be easier to swap the trans and everything into the Jetta or the alh into the golf? Or should I just try to find a junkyard motor or rebuild kit for the golf?
Can I assume DPF cracked without checking underneath? 170k miles 2010 Jetta 2.0
I did my first timing belt job today on a CRKA Passat. it was stressful but so rewarding. I reread the repair manual at least 50 times. I used an oem cam seal and it seems to be holding up well. I don’t know how I would’ve done it without VW special tools.
Just curious how much driving it takes on these TDIs (2013 Passat) before it clears the code if at all. Had a p2478 EGT code that was throwing a check engine light prior to replacing the heater core.
After the core and about 50 miles of driving, the CEL turned off. I’ve put about 700 miles on it since, and it still shows the fault code with a scanner, but again, no CEL. Do I have to manually clear it, or will it clear itself with more driving?
I'm doing my timing belt and water pump at the same time replacing the cp4. I'm also adding the rail pressure sensor. I have a stock turbo and a stock clutch. Am I putting to much torque on the turbo and my clutch with this mod?

it doesnt do this tell its warmed up when its cold it idles fine
Hi, I live in Wi and park my 2014 Jetta Sportwagen DSG in a semi-underground garage (not heated though). For the past few weeks once the weather got a little cooler & damp I have started having long cranks in the morning and when I first accelerate some sputtering/hesitation for maybe half a block length. I had this same issue happen in previous years, had the battery and start system checked last year with no issues reported. I really only experience it in fall & spring so it seems somehow tied to the climate? Oddly, when it's actually cold in winter here I don't have the issue. Is there anything I should be doing to resolve this? It does seem worse this year, so maybe time for a trip to a mechanic about it?
I wanna upgrade my turbo at some point but THE VNT 15 SOUNDS SO GOOD compared to the VNT17 and other options (at least mine does) does anyone know of any other turbo options that whistle to a similar extent that the vnt15 does?
Hey, I've been told I need my EGR valves replaced. My glow plug light will start flashing when I'm driving on the highway. Is it safe to drive in the city for short distances? I think I'm going to try to sell the car, as I was told this could be a pricey fix ($4000) for the front and back. It has 190km on it but a new alternator, AC compressor and wheel bearings. Would you recommend selling the car or fixing the issues? I'm worried the turbo is next. I don't know much about cars and don't want to make any bad decisions.
2015 Passat TDI
My vehicle has exied the extended warranty period. I have had two DEF tanks replaced under warranty due to bad sensors and anticipate that a third one is going bad right now. Is this something that I should try to push to get replaced under warranty since it is a emissions related issue and this specific problem is recurring?
*Update: Dealership agreed to do the diagnostic and scan at a big discount. Had a positive and frank conversation with the tech and service manager.
Diagnosis was exactly what I thought it was, plus the feed line that sprays the DEF onto the filter. These are both things that have been replaced under warranty at least twice. Parts are out of warranty. They're going to talk to VW and it's a coin toss as to whether they'll make an exception. If they don't cover this under warranty, I'd rather spend the money on a more permanent fix.
I T-boned a lady today in my Forester. My dad and bro own different gen golf TDI’s. I am looking at 2011 Manual, TDI with 150k miles. Timing belt was recently replaced as were tires. Is there anything I need to worry about maintenance wise in the near future? I would be interested in a tune in the future to get the most MPG’s. Thanks
Stock minus EGR, 03 golf at half a tank 500 miles. Vented filled all the way up the neck. Can usually get 900+ miles on a full tank.
Hey guys, I'm looking at buying this TDI for the next couple of years while I'm living in the city.
It's a 5spd manual, 270k miles.
I'm a diesel mechanic, so I'm not worried about some minor issues, but I don't wanna have to fix it all the time or cost me a ton of money.
It sounds like it runs well, but I'm not very familiar with the TDIs, I'm used to the Cummins platform, so just wanted to get some second opinions.
Guy wants $2k, planning to lowball him for like $15-18 and just see what he says, it's been listed for months.
What do you guys think?
Thanks!
