2012 SE Window seal

Does anyone know where I can source a window seal for the drivers side? It is damaged and causes a whistling noise at highway speeds.

Friends new 2024 Jetta heat is no good. Doesn't get too hot, then after a little while on high gets cold.

Not sure not supposed to be like this in a new car. I told him to check his coolant but I don't think you should in a new car?

2007 Jetta GLI Fahrenheit edition

Does anyone know anything they did specifically to the Fahrenheit given it is 1200 ever built. I know they put a proprietary rack and pinion in it but that’s where my knowledge ends. I recently got one, specifically 918/1200 and have been digging through it and chasing anything wrong.

Alignment at dealer cost

Took our 2020 Jetta in for a sensor calibration since all the safety items are disabled and they said that it needed an alignment. They said it could be calibrated but the alignment was just enough out that it would eventually disable it again. Told me it is $800 to do the alignment and 195 to calibrate. Is that the going rate these days? I see posts from a year or two ago saying it’s a few hundred. I’m going to talk to my mechanic tomorrow and see what they quote but I’m curious if VW does something special to justify that cost.

Customize

My gf bought a new Jetta SE 2024 and is trying to change the lights on the Dashboard and I've looked all over the place and I can't find a tutorial on it, they all say car button but we can't find said button.

How much this would cost?

I was backing up, I stopped and start back up again slowly and out of nowwhere this pickup truck came and collided.

Wonder how much it will cost if I have to do it without insurance and if I have to do the minimum repairs to get it going side panel and taillight?

2015 VW Jetta push to start will not work in freezing temps, unless I heat the steering column near the key receptor with a blow dryer. Any idea what would cause this? It's not the battery. Once the car is started i don't have any trouble shutting it off and turning it back on.

Random misfire

Been getting a random misfire, one time with a too much pressure to the cylinder and traction control light came on. Other time not. Either way I turn off the car and cut it back on and it stops. It’ll misfire once every 300 miles or so. Not sure how to fix it.

Parking brake in Drive.

Not rlly a Jetta specific question but thought I’d ask anyways.

So my transmission bushing broke off (AGAIN) while doing deliveries so my car is stuck in Drive gear while my shifter is stuck in Park… Been having to use my parking brake for every stop til I get it fixed (part comes in on Thurs). Do I risk damaging/breaking something even more by doin this or am I good?

I’m not hitting the gas while the e-brake’s engaged (obv) jus only when I need my car to sit stationary while I make the drop.

I’m guessing premature wear on the brakes is the worse that’ll come from this? Jus wanna be certain before I screw something else up. Thanks.

Pull parts from Junkyard

2017 Jetta 1.4T, first car.

Going to pull some parts (windshield molding, side mirror etc.) from this junk yard. Any advices? Are there any parts worth taking as a backup?

Jetta sound system

Anyone else feel like the mk7 speakers suck a**? I had a mk6 and it came with 6 speakers and I eventually upgraded the head unit and that thing was bumping even better. But the 4 speakers really do suck 😒 anyone upgraded them yet? How were the improvements? Hmm 🧐

What is this sound? 2014 Jetta 1.8t

Not the ticking noise, ik that’s part of the injectors. What is the intermittent “knocking” type sound? It’s seems like it’s coming from what I think is the timing chain cover on the left side of the engine

Noise coming from where radio is at goes away when I hit the vents a couple times

It’s not constant but it happens every other day

Possibly far fetched question

My 2014 Jetta 1.8t se makes this HORRIBLE noise when you start it. It sounds like sticking a knife in a metal fan. The timing chain and all of the tensioners are fine and tight. Has anyone experienced this noise or had to fix it? My only ideas are the hydraulic lifters or the turbo (hopefully not).

Maintenance @ 120k

Purchased a 2015 1.8t SE 2.5 years ago at 104k miles. The attached list of work was completed at that time. The Jetta now has 120k & has required no maintenance beyond oil changes & tire rotations. Any recs on what I should do at this milestone to keep it going strong?

Fun times all around

First gear decided it wasn't gonna work anymore. A new lightweight flywheel, stronger clutch, and a TDI transmission solved that problem

New MK7.5 behind my MK6

Saw the new MK7.5 in person and I definitely can see the MK6 retrofit design onto the car especially the front and I do like it a bit however I’m disappointed with the fact it looks like a gen 11 Civic more than its own thing (I know that they mainly resemble Audi’s) the MK7 looks I think a little better but if it had a more aggressive profile like the MK6’s. Just wish the MK6’s had bigger motors they’d be sleepers that look incredible.

I accidentally put the battery in backwards

2017 Jetta SE....It was dark out. I wasn't focused. Absolutely stupidly simple mistake has now caused the power steering to go. Then we lost the windows and blinker and backup camera. On the way to the mechanic the accelerator went. I could tap the floor with the gas pedal with little rise in the rpms. We get it to the mechanic and while he is standing a few feet away with the keyfob, the car randomly attempted to start. I don't have my ODB reader anymore so I couldn't hunt the issue. I have intermediate car knowledge but I know enough that electric issues are beyond me.

Anybody ever deal with this before? What was the typical repair cost? I'm curious as to how badly I ruined Christmas....I am bracing myself for a procetag between $340-$1400

Mk6 to 6.5 Steering Wheel swap?

Good morning, Jetta community.

I have a 2014 Jetta SEL Mk6. We love the car, but my girlfriend, the primary driver, loves the steering wheel on the later facelift of the same generation. I have worked on steering wheels before, and I have already replaced her radio with a RCD 330. Does anyone know anything about the compatibility of the two steering wheels?

Can I get a later Jetta steering wheel and put it in my '14? Or maybe another car? MQB has been so plug and play so far. If anyone knows where to look or any information, I would appreciate it a lot!

2001 Jetta Remote Central Locking

Hi Guys, I have a 2001 MK4 Jetta 1.9TDi (Bora in my country), which has factory central locking by inserting the key into the door, without the remote key FOB. Is it possible to fit an aftermarket remote locking system with the key since I already have the base central locking in place. If so, would you recommend any kits online or such? Thanks in advance :)

Tail lights

I have a reverse light out on my Jetta and I thought why not just get new tail lights so I’m curious on what tail lights should I go for. I have a 2015 VW Jetta :)

Good price?

Hello, I have been having some random misfires on my 2017 Jetta SE with the 1.4T (126k miles)

Dealer says it is due to carbon build up on top of the intake valves, did lots of research, makes total sense.

To have dealer clean it, they quoted me $1,000.18. I’m okay with paying it as I have a loaner and am very busy at the moment but was wondering if this is high. I called 2 other separate dealers and prices ranged from my $1k all the way to $1,350.

This btw is the first real issue I have ever had with this car and I am the second owner and I bought it with 38k miles incase ur on here trying to gauge their reliability. I overall love this car and am very satisfied with it in basically all areas u could judge a car other than maintenance is a little costly if u cant do simple stuff urself.
