Center armrest won’t slide back all the way?

This is so dumb, but I slid my center console armrest out the other day and now I cannot get it to slide all the way back. I usually never extend it, however I did on my way home from work the other day and it just won’t reset all the way! Am I stupid? 😂 is there a button that I’m supposed to be pressing? There’s nothing blocking its path, so IDK why it won’t go back. maybe I slid it out too much initially? Not really sure how that would be possible but it’s the only explanation that I could think of.

As you can see the opening/closing of the center console still works perfectly fine and locks into place at different heights normally. It’s just a sliding part that seems off for some reason. I have a 2017 1.8L SEL, in case that matters.

2017 1.4t w/ 5 speed trans fluid

Completing the 80k mileage service for my Jetta, says on the chart that the transmission fluid should be changed. Says automatic fluid non dsg, but I have the 5 speed manual, should I still change my transmission fluid, and if so how would I find information on fluid specs etc?

Taillight diagnosis help!

My rear right taillight is out on my 2011 Jetta se the break light still works but the reverse light and the normal running light is out, the bulbs and the module that contains the bulbs are working I already tested them they aren’t the issue. What do you recommend the next thing to check? (Please don’t say wiring I hate dealing with wires lol) but other than wiring anything else? Is it possible the each light has a separate fuse connected to each and one has blown? If so where can I find an accurate 2011 Jetta se fuse diagram, those that I have seen have been slightly unreliable.

Rough Idle

Recently my car, 2014 Jetta sel 1.8t, started randomly having a rough idle. It’s not consistent at all. Just today there was bad traffic and it was bad the whole time but after shutting the car off and getting back on the road, it was perfectly fine. My scanner is showing no misfires. It did have some a while back but I put new spark plugs and coils on and the misfire went away. Also after the traffic, the roughness stopped and the stability control light turned on, and my traction control button stopped working. I did just put the button in a couple weeks ago. Could that be related? It also went back to normal after shutting the car off.

AC making loud noise while idling

Bought this 2012 Jetta 2.5 last December. Now that is getting warm out I started to turn the AC on. I noticed that when the AC is on and the car is idling it will start making a high sound and then it will fade away and then come back.

This only happens when AC is on. AC works and blows cold air.

Looking for some opinions on what this might be and if it’s something I can do or take to the shop.

Thank you!

AC electrical issue. NEED HELP!!

Hey guys. So I had an issue with my battery dying and replaced it about a few months ago. Last month my battery died again and then my AC went out. Went to VW dealer and they charged me 130 for a diagnostic fee. After 5 hours of my car at the dealer they told me it’s an electrical issue that’ll cost another 330$. Keep in mind I am a e-4 in the US ARMY. I can’t afford to put 490$ into diagnostics fees. Is there any solutions yall might have for fixing a 2019 Jetta AC?

VLAND Brake light bulb replacement

Does anyone know if I can change the bulbs on my VLAND tail light assembly? Just noticed most of the brake lights are out, pretty much only the running light comes on when I brake and that’s not very bright.

Question: what sound system upgrade do you guys recommend?

My stock front speakers just blew out on my 2019 jetta, I need something that can support good strong bass.

I listen to different music genres but my majority is electronic dance music 🎶

2014 Jetta Tail/Brake Lights

I’m trying to replace the brake/tail light on my girlfriend’s 2014 Jetta. The owners manual doesn’t actually specify what type of bulb to replace it with (unless I’m blind).

Could someone point me in the right direction for replacements? Is the 1157 bulb type correct for the tail and brake light?

Edit: adding that I intend on replacing both the inner and outer.

Jetta RPMs skyrocketing after shifting

I've been having an issue the past few weeks, on gears 2-5 when I shift up, I'll let the clutch out and press the accelerator. Now sometimes when this happens the RPMs will shoot up way high, to like 4-5000. This is all happening without generating any extra speed or power. Not sure what's going on. I'm not good with cars but the best way I can think to describe it is it's like when you hit the gas way too early when shifting, except the clutch is fully depressed. Anyone have any issues like it

It's a 2014 jetta base model, 2.0L 5 speed and has 127000 miles.

APR stage 2 in the US?

So i just got the APR ultra link, and with it i wanted to go stage 2 on my 16’ Jetta Sport, but my dumbass didn’t see on the website it says stage 2 isn’t done in the US, and since i’m already stage 1, i can’t use the ultra link to tune any other part of my car. That got me thinking though, if i used a vpn on the laptop being used to tune my car and set it to a server not in the US, would i be able to get the tune? plz help 🙏🙏

2012 Jetta S - replace rotors/calipers with “ OE stock”, or would it be worthwhile to upgrade?

I’ve gotta do at least pads and rotors, and @ 132k miles, it sorta makes sense to me to do calipers and a fluid flush at the same time.

I don’t drive very hard, but my priorities for a vehicle have always been, in order…

  • I can make it stop.

  • I can make it steer.

  • I can make it go.

Would y’all recommend going with anything more than OE replacements?

Thanks for your time.

Upgrading horn 2015 Jetta Trendline

Hello - not sure if this is the right sub, hence I am cross posting this. Apologies if it is not!

So I currently have a single horn on my 2015 VW Jetta Trendline 2.0 (made in Mexico but I live in Canada). I want to upgrade to hella horns (preferably the sharptone). My issue is that there is barely any guidance regarding these kinds of upgrades for my car.

So far I have found the following and I am looking for guidance as to if anyone has any advice or expertise, and or if am going about this the wrong way!

I am looking at purchasing these. They are from ECS Tuning. However, when I watched a video from them, they were using a full kit but for the MK7 golf. This apparently has a full bracket set plus harness. Here is the kit.

The issue is that I don’t know if the MK7 kit will work. Also the MK7 kit video showed them using a relay and connecting to the fuse box and ground then using a wire harness from the OEM harness and connecting that to the new horns.

I also saw this video which showed splicing the OEM harness and extending the wires. Which completely contradicted the ECS video and didn’t include any relay etc, which makes sense considering the oem wiring should already be connected to the fuse box. However, their model has a dual horn so maybe that’s the difference?

Anyways, here’s my thinking.

I want to use the horns I’m thinking of purchasing (the hella sharptone) and then using a single to dual harness as shown in this forum, and then extending the wires of the single to dual harness to relocate the horns. That way I don’t have to splice into the OEM harness and I still get my relocation and dual horns.

Would this work? What are the issues that you can foresee? Does wire gauge affect anything? I assume I would need a wire guage that matches the horns? I know that by even asking these questions people might say that I’m not an electrician and I should take it to a professional. But I want to learn, hence why I don’t want to splice into the OEM harness incase I mess up and need to revert to the original set up. So please if that’s what you were going to say, please don’t!

Anyone else TIA!

2017 1.4T mods?

I have some 18” rims on the car, but I was thinking suspension (coilovers) because they scrape the fender like a bitch when I go over bumps and pot holes. Also, anyone know any good exhaust set ups. It’s completely stock save for tint, subs, and rims.
