**WBHG - ALL THE DAMA ALL THE TIME**

If a post on /r/Christianity or any other internet aspect of Christianity has you so pissed off that you can't laugh about it on /r/sidehugs, post your long-winded rants over here.

If you’ve got good news to share and want to share it without threat of bigots raining on your parade in the name of “telling the truth in love”, post it here.

If you want to talk about theology in a reasonable, well-moderated environment, post here.

If you want anything else from this community, post here

RULES AND GUIDELINES

Rules:

  1. No bigotry. Generally the idea would be "don't be an asshole", but for you Speaking the Truth in LoveTM types, we need to be clearer. Don't use slurs, don't call for governmental execution, etc etc.
  2. No doxxing. This is a site-wide rule, and we will enforce it hard.
  3. No brigading. We're not your personal army, so don't try to get us to be.
  4. No blogspam. You can post your blog (I guess), but you have to actually participate in the community beyond that.

And guidelines:

  1. Posting here carries an inherent risk of being banned from /r/Christianity with the current moderator power structure in place. You assume that risk when you post or comment here.
  2. While we encourage NP linking for personal account safety and courtesy, the moderators of /r/Christianity have made it clear that it does not stop banning, and we won’t ban you for failing to do so. That said, username pings (writing /u/user instead of just user) are heavily frowned upon and may get your comment removed depending on circumstances.
  3. Use a tag! We have a few tags for public use, and these will help make our community a lot more streamlined, so consider tagging your post as either [Rant], [Discussion], [Personal], [Venting], or [News].
  4. This community is a spinoff of /r/Sidehugs, but our focus is on /r/Christianity. While we may have issues with /r/Christianity, they're still our brothers and sisters, and their mod team does a lot of hard work. So temper your blind rage with love, and don't be an asshole, asshole.
  5. The mods have a lot of discretion here, and are allowed by our great overlords to use it. You won’t gain a lot of ground arguing the wording of specific rules, and the nitty gritty.

Mothersub is shite at picking mods

Seriously Bruce, a drunk monkey toddler has a better chance than you at picking mods. The first of the new five noped out immediately. The Ants left because of you I'm guessing, as tenured mods just don't leave as soon as a new batch comes in.

Then his hand picked fav, Raboni drops out after defending bigots when a trans teen is killed.

And now, another is down after making sorta bigoted remarks regarding a hate crime involving an affirming LGBT church in Spokane.

That is 4 mods down in about a month. Good job Brucie, good job. Way to pick those bigots!!

Overlap between r/196 and the mothersub

Hear me out.

If we took all these "is it a sin to..." posts, and swapped them for their "fellas is it gay to..." posts

We'd be back where we started!

Mothersub new mods

There hasn't been an announcement yet, but it looks like the mothersub got 4 new mods 9 days ago. -

Nateorade, augustinus_de_hippo, lonelyVaultdweller, and Brucies homophobic BFF rabboni.

I don't see McClankey staying on long as rabboni has a history bitching about him.

Anyway, there are the new mods - looks like the bigots are eating well tonight.

My church has got more than a little bit fundy

When I joined my church a year ago, I found it to be a refreshing change. It was music, and prayer, and peace. After struggling to find a church I fit in with, it was so nice to have something that felt like home.

Since then, I feel like the nearby university christian union has basically moved in and taken over. And I know that complaining about the younger generation is how you know you're old, but I'm complaining because *that used to be me*.

I spoke to two young women today who told me about having a "Light party" - for those not in the know a Light party is a Christian halloween alternative. Everyone seems to live in shared houses with other Christian students. One older guy was telling me with pride about his friend that threw his daughter out of the family home for "doing stuff." He pulled the "hate the sin, love the sinner" bit which tells me the daughter was probably queer.

What happened to my church?

Rod Dreher Megathread #26 (Unconditional Love)

/u/Djehutimose warns us:

I dislike all this talk of how “rancid” Rod is, or how he was “born to spit venom”, or that he somehow deserved to be bullied as a kid, or about “crap people” in general. It sounds too much like Rod’s rhetoric about “wicked” people, and his implication that some groups of people ought to be wiped out. Criticize him as much and as sharply as you like; but don’t turn into him. Like Nietzsche said, if you keep fighting monsters, you better be careful not to become one.

As the rules state - Don't be an asshole, asshole.

I don't read many of the comments in these threads...far under 1%. Please report if people are going too far, and call each other out to be kind.

/u/PercyLarsen thought this would make a good thread starter: https://roddreher.substack.com/p/the-mortal-danger-of-yes-buttery

A small rant on the state of media coverage of Christian nationalism -

Something that's been bugging me lately. David French has been talking about Christian nationalism quite a bit recently. Obviously he was in the middle of things a few years ago, inspiring Sohrab Ahmaris crazy "against David Frenchism" manifesto. But with the election cycle coming up he's been back on the topic.

He's competent enough on the subject. And he's an.... Ok writer. Obviously he's prone to purple prose. But he knows the subject well and writes fairly persuasively on it.

But he's still a neocon. He was (for the most part) fine with First Things and integralists before Trump. He wasn't extremely concerned when First Things had Robert Bork declaring that American democracy had failed and only insurrection could save it. He didn't have big issues with Bork or Gingrich or some of Chuck Colsons more unhinged ideas.

What he detests about Trump most of all is how Trump is a crude, unmasked, unfiltered man. If Trump was polite, French would probably support him with little criticism. It makes his critique anemic. He wants decency, not goodness. Many neocons in "the resistance" are like this.

Liberals on the other hand, tend to be fairly poorly informed. Not that what they're saying is wrong, but that it's shallow. Like Bradley Onishi of "Straight white American" Jesus - he can be great depending on the subject. But his coverage of natcon and it's theological speakers is bizarrely non-existent (at least from what I've listened to so far). He like many leftists spends his time dunking on turning point and their ilk and doesn't spend enough time on the people who are most profoundly impacting Washington at the moment.
